Options are yet to be decided but I welcome any ideas to further add to the concept.
A full GT grid would be great as long as the cars were all fairly matched.

I'm also considering imposing a weight ballast of around the average weight of a race driver to bring more depth to the race. I use this method all the time, it makes racing more exciting.

Thanks for the input Mitch. 👍

Possibly scab Jav's GTPFIA specs for GT1 and/or GT2? (Probably a good idea to message him first). It'd be like the FIA GT of old with the proper endurance races and I'd love to finally take part in one online.

Have you got a link? I'd like to check that out to see what ideas I could borrow.

GTPFIA GT World Cup

If you do get to use those specs you're unlikely to be able to add the average weight of a driver for some of the cars as some need the full 200kg of ballast to reach the weight limits.

I had been doing some testing to try and use the older 90's GT1 cars (McLaren F1 GTR, Merc CLK-LM, Nissan R390, etc) using their stock weights and 600hp limit but they weren't the most even...

Thanks, I'll check that out and see how it can be adapted to this race.

Also, I may add a poll for possible tracks to be used. If it's too long it'll cause grief for anyone damaged who needs to get to the pits, if it's too short it will be too repetitive.

Well my skill should be called medium and stabil/clean...

But It sounds like great fun. So count me in if the date suits me and i fit in the race

There are no dates announced as of yet but keep tuned into this thread for more details if you are serious about taking part.

Any thoughts on a one-make race but each driver allowed to use their own suspension/ transmission set up?

I'm in! Just can't do Mondays and Wednesdays. Other weekdays will have to be worked out for me. Weekends are always open.

Also I like Mitch's idea on using Jav's FIA GT specs and cars. That would be great. 👍
I hope this kicks off and becomes a success. :)

Oh and a one-make race... depends on the car. I wouldn't want to do it though.

How about if it was the GTR V-Spec Academy car?

I was driving it last night doing some testing and although it's not the fastest thing on wheels it has a good cockpit view, rides well on SS tyres and has great damage modelling . It would create a very level field and make for an enjoyable race.

Also the track. I toyed with Tokyo and Suzuka, the latter being maybe a bit stale after the 1000k in GTlife. I think it would be better on an open circuit though as opposed to a walled, city track.

I'm open to suggestions although it must obviously have a pit!

Monza? Haven't had a proper enduro there yet.

One make would be alright if a) I had the car and b) if it's on atleast Racing Hard tyres.

I do like Javs specs but I'd like to add the Nissan GTR GT500 Stealth as I'm keen to race it but it's not allowed in the SuperGT series'....

Monza sound like a good bet, I'll do some testing there tonight.

RS you say? I'll need to test some appropriate cars then. I think a one-make could see the closest contest with power and weight being the same, but drivers allowed to tune their own suspension and gearbox.

Wait. Is this is a spot race endurance? Stupid question probably.

Also, the GTR Academy car? Sure, that was a god car. I don't have one but I have two accounts and one I can still get it. It'll take some time though.

Tokyo sounds great. Suzuka is dying for me too. I've done so many long races on it....
How about... ehh... I can't think of anything else. Eifel Tarmac? Would require some serious testing though.

Meaning? (Feeling a bit slow today sorry)

Ah, sorry, I should have explained better. I've just woke up myself.

What I mean is I need to figure out what weight, power and PP the car is going to be.

So I'm thinking maybe SuperGT cars? They're all fairly equal and fast. The faster, more powerful ones can be capped with a ballast to keep PP levels the same across the grid.

I was worried about that, it's not exactly original.

That's why I suggested the GTR V-Spec academy version.

Possible an M3 race. They're enjoyable cars to drive.

Proper race cars would be better imo but not really SuperGT....I'd just go with Jav's GTPFIA specs.

FIA specs are a fair option but does it allow a level field. Do some cars have the advantage over others or are they all evenly matched?

The that's great. Do you think he'll mind if I borrow his statistics? I'll PM him now. 👍

So GTPFIA spec endurance it is then!

Wouldn't it be more realistic for the drivers to drive premiums though as I know for a fact I would get a little crazy driving bumper cam for 3 hours!

Personal preference isn't it? I prefer to drive premiums (and will drive the McLaren F1 Stealth for these races unless the GTR GT500 Stealth can be equalised with the GT2 cars) but not everyone likes to drive with that cockpit view...

Your right, it should be personal choice. OK so I'm going to say, providing Jav responds to my PM, that the GT class cars should be used. GT2 class seems preferable as it opens opportunities very close racing.

Do you think that drivers entering should have a referral/ proven track record so that the race doesn't end up with people dropping out after damaging their car after a few laps and not being bothered to finish.

Also GTP racing rules would apply.

You'd hope all that sign up actually are committed to staying for the full race, I know I will be. A track record maybe just of series' competed in and number of 1 hour-ish length races completed (you know, just to ensure they are the kind to hang about) would hopefully ensure the right people are asked to show up for the races.

If you're keen on going for one class (GT2?) that'd be a pretty fun way to go as 15 cars all competing for the overall win would be very entertaining.

That's what I'm thinking. No points system to worry about. It's all for the win!

I don't think I'll be racing as I'll have too much to do behind the scenes. If anything I'll appear as a spectator to film it from the 'Watch Race' screen and put it on-line.

I've yet to check but is there a live timing monitor that can be viewed from the race spectator screen or is it just live track view. I'll check tonight but just wondered if anyone knows if this can be done?

Possible to have a 2 monitor setup with timing on one and racing on the other? (Funds permitting?)

Other than that, you could also act as race steward. As the cars come round after a pace lap (yes?) you could countdown 3-2-1-GO to ensure no-one jumps the start. Penalties for contact and abusing track limits could be handed out too if you wanted to get really realistic (get out your stop watch for stop and hold penalties in the pits).

I could try to arrange a dual monitor set up. I use my projector mainly but I'm sure I've got an old LCD lying around. I know there's a guide on here somewhere to setting it up.

The steward idea is what I was hoping for myself and a few others to do but that would limit the place in the room even more. For any dodgy driving I was thinking a drive through penalty would suffice.

Warm up lap behind the pace car, yes, I've been wanting to include that from the start.
