Two years ago i ordered a PWTS with the clubsport Deskmount. The PWTS was delivered and the deskmount was not in stock, so in stead of waiting a few months, i cancelled the deskmount and started making someting myself.
The requirements were:
-Easy to mount and dismount (not more than 10-15 seconds)
-Rock solid installation
-Nothing sticking out underneath (like the big bolt in with clubsport deskmount in the middle)
-Angle adjustment since i like to have almost no angle on the wheel rim
-No damage or bolts through the desk
I made a lot of "prototypes" through the years but decided to make a new one for the CSR Elite.
I had three extra requirements for the CSR Elite deskmount:
-Adjustable back and forward (the new wheel sticks further out)
-Easy to mount an other wheel (if i'm also buying the CSW)
-It had to look cool
This is the base plate with two rails which alow the adjustability from back to forward. I made it out of simple mdf which i covered with carbon fiber foil. The two rings are there to protect the plate when i tighten the bolts.
On top of the rails i made a bracket for the CSR Elite. With the four bolts i can easly remove or adjust the top bracket. Again with that nice carbon fiber foil. If i will buy the CSW also, i will only make the top bracket for that wheel.
Any other adjustments (like angle and hight) can also be made by altering this top bracket.
The plugs for cables for the CSR Elite are on the back of the wheel, so i adjusted the bracket for easy acces to the plugs. The wires will go underneath the bracket to the front of my desk, where they dissappear in a wire sleeve.
The bottom of the plate is covered with rubber, this makes a very very solid mount possible. Here you can also see how the top bracket is mounted on the bottom one.
I made two clamps, also covered with rubber and carbonfiber foil, for easy and quick mounting to the desk. Because of the rubber on the bottom of the plate, i don't even have to tighten them that hard.
Here's a picture with the base and the tempory mount for my PWTS, untill the CSR Elite is finally here. Here you can also see that i changed the angle from the PWTS to almost zero. I will be using the CSR Elite without the angle bracket, but this is just a personal preference.
Here's another picture, with the old clamps. Haven't done anything one the look of the old PWTS bracket, since i won't be using it after next week.
Because the desk is pretty heavy i have no movement at all. The mount feels like it's bolted to the wall. This was also very important to me.
My deskmount is ready for some awesome CSR Elite force feedback.
