So, how much effort do you actually put into a WRS week?

I do around five sessions of maximum 60 minutes each. I've noticed that marathon sessions only make me slower and more frustrated.

Likewise. If I'm not fast within an hour, it aint happening. Same with the DS3 as it is with the wheel. I have spent up to 12 hours racing on a few of the WRS events, probably on the weeks where I've finished up near the top or at the top because I desperately wanted to convert! A lot of that extra time though was just toiling over a few hundredths....

Most of the time now it's a couple of hours, just trying to be competitive these days as time is short and logistics of dragging my kit into another room is awkward.

4-8 hours.
Although on Week 36 (my first WRS) I did a 8 hour stint in one go (._. no lifer I know) and about 20 hours overall (with my best time in the last hour lol).

Average week about 3 or 4 hours maybe less depending on how long it takes me to figure out the combo. A few events (like week 1) I've spent between 8 and 12 hours on. But those are rare exceptions when I love the combo. I don't always improve after the first 3 or 4 sessions though, I just get addicted. :P

Like Thomas, sessions of more than an hour usually result in me getting slower again.

Normally get about 3 to 4hrs a week to do WRS and like others have said over an hour stint and it gets frustrating and slower, but I got a chance to run the Kart for about 10hrs in that week and it showed in my final time.

This is pretty much me as well.

I think I spent about 10 on the qualifier, but normally an effort of about 4 hours gets me within striking distance of my current handicap, the middle of the board, and the middle of D2. ;)

Weeks that I make my own tune are probably the most significant exception. Normally, I need 2 sessions of about an hour each just to get the car dialed in. Then I still spend the 4 hours or so that I normally would getting my time down, while making much smaller tweaks to the tune.

I would also say I can spend less time on tracks that I know intimately. Particularly the Prologue tracks.

I voted 4-8, average is probably 6hrs. Heaven would be the Chuk poll option.

Combo's I've spent the most time on, off the top of my head, and were all more than 8hrs:
Mini Me
R8@Nordschleife
C9@La Sarthe
SIARPC
KazSpa
Gee Tee Eye

Nice poll. 👍

I voted on 4-8hrs, depending on the combo it varies, if it's an addictive one like week 6 monaco, week 8 TGTT I will spend an hour or two a day trying to shave off even the smallest amounts of time.

Most weeks I will probably be close to my limit after the first session, then I grind the week out for that extra tenth or so :D

It's difficult to give a straight answer, since a lot depends on the combo. If the combo is attractive I'd say 3-4 hours a week or a bit more, and when a combo is not 0-1.
Counting over the past years it's frightening to think of how many hours I've spend on WRS related matters such as the combos and the leaderboard :D

Around 10-12 hours. Only started in GT5 and the first days are to know the track.
On week 40 we had our first rerun and needeed much less time.
But this thing is really addictive so if i have the time i find myself taking some more laps to shave the last tenth.
(and why did i start to make a excel spreadsheet on every week :ouch:, that think is always saying that i can go a bit faster )

Have to stop a really bad habitat to start over everytime i crash on the first sector, as it looks it shaves time but it´s the opposite

I voted 4-8 hours but sometimes it's more.
Taking a break each hour is necessary. And I usually beat my time after those breaks.

Yeah, years of doing this has taught me that running several consecutive laps despite the mistakes and actual result are the best path to improvement. 👍

And with that time commitment, yeah, you're an addict. ;)

...and that makes you the pusher, Kev. Tsk, tsk.

Voted 4-8 hours but definately had a few 20+ hour weeks. I'm lucky in that I start work at 2:30 in the afternoon so when I'm really enjoying a week I'll be in the seat from 10am until I have to leave. Usually less seat time on the weekend. But I'm a slow starter, it takes a couple sessions before I start to put together decent laps so I need all the time I can get. Weeks like Spa I put in 20+ but my best lap happened around hour 10. After that it was fast lap screw up after fast lap screw up.

I voted less thsan an hour as I typically will run for about 10 minutes per night, but not every night. There have been occasions where I've run for longer, and for some events it's been up to 10 hours in the week.

I've not turned a single lap this week unfortunately, but the Christmas holidays are coming ;)

Jon!!!
You do some amazing results for the time you get to drive! 👍 Hopefully we'll get the chance to race together again soon. I'd like that! :)
Hope all is well.

Hey Chuk, great to see you around these parts again - and thanks! It made me laugh when I typed it, as I spend infinately longer on the forum than I do driving. It ebbs and flows really on available time dependant on work and what we have going on at home.

For the last three weeks we've been decorating and finishing off numerous jobs to put our house on the market - unfortunately it's meant that my set-up is....well, not at the moment. Hoping to get a temporary set-up fixed up in the garage next week though so that I can start running some laps again (coming into summer here so it will be fine of an evening to duck in there - it's where the beer fridge is as well 👍)

I keep discovering my beer fridge and racing set-up tend to always be in close proximity to each other. Must be the need for the CPU's to take advantage of the extra refrigeration!!! :sly:

4-8 I think about average. Don't think I ever did more then 8 though, probably never submitted with less then 3 hours either.

I voted 3-4 hours but 4-8 hours would probably be closer to the truth, now that I think about it. It's just that time goes by fast when I'm doing this. Also, every time I start a new session, it seems like it takes forever for me to just get back to where I left off... :grumpy:

I'm a lot busier these days w/ shopping for Christmas and now that I have a Super Gaming PC I'll probably have less WRS time considering that I'm going to try some I-Racing and I'll be working on my Newsd Miata

Voted 3-4 hours, now we are having holidays maybe I am close to chuk, but this is the week routine

I can honestly say I do 30-40 hours a week on average for WRS. I may drive for 60 hours, or B-spec for hours, but that is my usual amount. At least half of that would be totally sober, but I've done a hot lap at 4 a.m., not being sober, and then never matched it. Not often, but it happens. My best laps come after 1-2 hours of practice, and it almost always takes me 5-10 laps just to get ready to go fast. But when I do get a time, my entire leaderboard will be within a tenth of each other because that number will truly represent my speed on that combo.

Wow Chuk

That's a lot of hours, maybe admin need to start paying you :sly:

Don't forget to make sure they are paying you double or treble time for all of those overtime hours you are putting in, after all, it seems you have a fridge that forever needs stocking :D

I voted 4-8, but never drove for more than 6 hours... which is a lot of time. I give up with qualifier after 60-80 minutes, following admin guidelines for it:

Please give it your best effort as sandbagging is highly frowned upon in the GTP OLR community. It would be greatly appreciated by all GTP Race Admin and participants if you would dedicate at least as much time to the qualifier as you would to a regular WRS event.

Actually, I can't be competitive in qualified division with less than 4 hours of TT :indiff:

Actually ran about 8 hours for the wk46 event in the BMW and got a half decent result to show for it. Will be back down to 2-3 hours from now on though so I'll need to try and maintain my, but I agree with what Duck says (^) that at least 4 hours is needed to be remotely competitive.
