Description:

Welcome to the 2012 GT5 Daytona 500. The great American race.
This is a race of pure commitment and skill. If interest gains in extreme numbers, there may be several lobbies, each with their own host. So, if you're interested, just sign up, and await the big race.

Important Notes:

1. If you are to sign up, please be at least 75% sure you are committed to being at the race. If there are any last minute calls, and you cannot attend, the first person to have signed up in the next lobby, (if there is one), will be put into the prior lobby.

2. Be sure to clear your cache before coming to the race. To do so, just follow these steps. Options > Network Options > Clear Network Cache.

Reserve Drivers:

Rules and Regulations:

- Clean racing at all times. Any dirty racing reported will result in a penalty.
- Advancing position while under the yellow line, when unnecessary, will result in a penalty.
- Returning to the track prior to turn 2, after exiting the pits, will result in a penalty.
- 2011 NASCAR models only to be used. (Max. 2 of each model, per lobby.)
- Tyres: All tyre compounds up to Racing Hard may be used.
- Tuning Regulations: Oil Change, Rigidity Improvement & Desired Tires.
- PP Limit: 635.
- Aids Restrictions: All aids off, except ABS 1, if needed for pit stops.
- Car Setup: You may toggle as many available settings as you wish.

All penalties will be issued after the race. These will be decided after reviewing the race, and using the replay as a reference.

Lobby & Event Settings:
(Lobby Opening: 22:00 GMT / 17:00 EST)

When the host/s have made a lobby for the race, they will post the room number/s for racers to join.

- Race Start Type: Rolling Start Dbl. File

- Penalty: None.
- Race Finish Delay: 180 sec. (3 min.)
- Visible Damage: Off
- Mechanical Damage: Light.
- Slipstream Strength: Weak.
- Tyre/Fuel Depletion: On.
- Grip Redution on Wet Track/Track Edge: Real.

Practice Sessions:
(For connection testing, and practice.)

- 21st January 23:30 GMT / 18:30 EST
- 28th January 23:30 GMT / 18:30 EST
- 4th February 23:00 GMT / 18:00 EST
- 11th February 23:30 GMT / 18:30 EST
- 17th February 23:00 GMT / 18:00 EST

These sessions will consist of numerous 10-50 lap races. This is a great time to test and practice. Also, the perfect time to find some drafting buddies for the race.

1st: 7 Tickets / Cars + 35 Paints + 3 Sets of Gear
2nd: 4 Tickets / Cars + 20 Paints + 2 Sets of Gear
3rd: 3 Tickets / Cars + 15 Paints + 1 Set of Gear
4th: 2 Tickets / Cars + 10 Paints + 1 Set of Gear
5th: 2 Tickets / Cars + 10 Paints
6th: 1 Ticket / Car + 5 Paints

I would actually like to do this, but the heavy damage will prevent it. Too easy at Daytona for others to completely ruin your race. Other tracks, I could see it. No bump drafting either.

I didn't realize how much the heavy damage damages the car when bump drafting. I'll set it to Light.

I'm interested if we limit tires to racing hard, and ditch the full damage. Not sure if it's best to do it on the same weekend as the actual race though. Maybe the weekend before?

I've ditched the Heavy damage, as mentioned above.

The weekend before might be a bit more convenient. It's been changed. :)

About the tires, I've changed that too.

So, are any of you interested now? :)

If I'm reading this right, 2300 GMT is 1800 Eastern Standard Time (USA), correct?
If so, I might just be crazy enough to do it.
A lot could change though as I will be changing shifts at work within a week. If I do not have work obligations, I will do it.
