Haven't bought the dlc track yet so went online to try it out, saved a replay and have just watched it.

Now is it me or are there going to be extra parts to this new track?

I say this because if you look ahead from the start tunnel there is a bridge which loops from the left then across the track to the middle on your right! Now once you go round the first banked corner onto the second main straight look to your right just before the tunnel, there seems to be a series of extreme banked corners one banking left then another banking right before rejoining the main straight!

I also noticed the number of tunnels at the start - SEVEN!

So does X mean for "XTRA" or just simply "10"? (there were only 7 special stages?)

What are your thoughts?

Could be. I'll shoot down your X theory now, however. There was a SSR11 in GT1 and GT3.

I drove around and I checked out that loop on the course. As far as the camera can see in photo mode during the replay, it does NOT connect back to the track at all. It just goes up the mountain and disappears. Some are talking about a dome like area, but from the other side it looks like nothing special. There is an airport with 2 runways but there is no way to connect to it. Looks just like an area to see and thats it.

But there other features after the first banked corner onto the main straight before the tunnel on the right (inside the track) it joins back there! maybe thats were the bridge takes you?

No, I checked the mountain. That bridge just goes straight, it does not curve back to the track or this bowl like area. The bowl just loops around but it ends abruptly at a wall. It is an incomplete area to race on. Go in photomode and check it our for yourself during a replay.

I have but it's hard to see exactly where the bridge would take you as you can't get high enough!

If you look at the second extreme banked corner there is a coned off section after it that leads back onto the straight?

Remember this is a massive track so anything could be possible!

EDIT- Just been round it again, there is a red barrier where it looks like it could be removed you could rejoin from there, after the extreme banked corners.

Also, to get to the middle of the circuit you would need to exit tunnel number 3 some how?

Lastly, if you look from the raised part before the first corner in photomode you can see some of the other features from there including where the bridge may take you?

I have stopped the car at the highest point on the bridge, and had the lens zoom in as far as possible. I didn't see anything with a road going to that area. For all we know it could be an access road to the airport, that is just walled off for high speed runs/ races.

I was thinking the same about those banked turns. Route X may have a double meaning, being route 10 or if those banks are linked to the straights it will make the track into an X configuration. I hope they do get unlocked because those banks look wicked and it may also help with the G-force test settings

Well whats the point of all that work designing it if you can use it? (before you say it, i know you can't fly a plane and land it there or unload that big boat) all that detail i know is there, but come on admit it does it not make you curios?

Look before the start/finish tunnel, theres another red barrier leading to tunnel 3 which would take you to the bridge, other GT's have tracks with more than 1 configuration and barriers preventing you access to different parts depending on which 1 you were on

I'm with killer tiller - g force tests? that would be a good way to test it.

Now this is just a theory but you know that shipping yard just after the bridge, it looks like the same shipping yard that was used in the first GT86 Concept I Video, the part when it is being unloaded from the back of the lorry, so could this mean that Route X has been around for a few years and that PD have kept it under the radar?

Maybe Route X is the ULTIMATE course.
I planned up a course like this one time. It is a course that will have variations into all race types (on-road, kart, and off-road). It is a "base of operations" for your GT5 garage and sorts.
If more courses start coming out of SSRX, then this is what I will be thinking will be going on.

I was thinking this too. I would have thought it would be a waste of time designing that area just for the video, then building a new one from scratch for this track. I'm wondering whether the Route X track would link up with SSR7. If anyone did the breakout glitch on SSR7 there was a fully moddeled stretch of motorway that was blocked off from the rest of the track (it joined on to the main straight but was blocked off by barriers).

I'm thinking it could be made part of a free roam circuit maybe?

The numbers on top of the tunnels seem to be for the flood way or canal under them. I think that lane 3 could be opened up for 1/4 mile online drags but the 1000mtr mark has a bridge support too close to the track. The others have no road and are probably just for the water to pass through.

The loop could be something you enter from a straight at high speed, do a full loop and re-enter the straight. This would serve no purpose other than to see how many G's your car can generate. But what happens if you slip? Where would you go? I do not see this happening.

I understand what you mean about SSR7 but it's in a city while Route X is in a magical land of massive lakes and distant mountains and satellite farms :dopey: so it might be a pretty long drive to connect the two  but if it were a mountain pass with switchbacks then I wouldn't mind it being too long ;)

Imagine this.. the ultimate test track, high speed oval (route x) then up that road to the mountain (to driving heaven) there lays a fully functional drag strip, drift and gymkhana playground, a kart test circuit and handling test circuit, and finally a beautiful driving road, which then leads on to Special Stage Route City. Yeah.. imagine that.

Route X leading into the tunnels. Lane 1 is the pits. Lane 2 is the normal track. Lane 3 is a possible extra lane for drag racing.

The exit of the tunnels. Lane 3 has a run off area. Lane 4-7 are aquaducts only. The water flows under the other 3 lanes.

The end of 1000m lane 3 has a support on the track.

Bridge supports with nothing on top. Could this be the future other half of the banked loop?

Special Stage Route X_4 by Milldrum, on Flickr

The exit to the banked section. How will a car exit there in a smooth manner?

A wider shot of the banked section.

You guys seem to have quite a jarring misconception on a vehicle's ability to generate cornering gs.

Lateral gs of a vehicle can only be determined on a completely flat and level surface with no banking / camber. On camber banking will artificially increase the gs generated and is not an accurate measure of a car's grip level.

Furthermore, on a banked curve such as the one pictured below, which is basically a vertical wall, the gs generated will be directly related to simply how fast the car is traveling and will be a force vector that is solely perpendicular to the car's floor plan, not lateral to it - i.e., it will give no indication to the car's cornering capabilities ... at all.

You know what that reminds me of? That white free-roam area that sometimes plays in the main menu. Could...could it be?! :scared:

The 4 empty aqueduct's and the bridge support's remind me of the ongoing construction on SSR 5. In the way that each new version had construction area's, then in the next game there would be something new in that location with construction continuing elsewhere. Only problem here is there is no construction equipment.

I like chips! :dopey:

I agree that the G's measured would be a different type of G's. But I also do not know if PD would record them as the same thing. I do not know any reason to have this at the new track. If this existed in real life and they copied it, then surely we would know all about it.

So why is it there? Is there a skate park around the bend and that's the exit? Does Indiana Jones live nearby and large boulders keep rolling onto the track?

Do the bridge H pylons trigger any questions?

Did PD say what type of G-Force was to be measured? Don't think so, look at the picture of the speed test screen (the red menu) it simply says "Max G-Force" so could be to measure any type of G-force? It's not a grip test (I know that grip is linked to G-forces but most cars can hold 1 - 2g's anyway) How would you test extra G-Force = Speed round a large banked curve would induce massive G's? I'm no expert just wondering thats all.

Edit: this track is about eXtreme - extreme speed, extreme size, so why not extreme G-Forces

@ Milldrum
There are some anomalies, agreed, but it does get you thinking though? And thanks for the pictures 👍

Like I said I haven't bought the track yet so can't try out the tests.
We simply don't know why all this stuff is there? only PD!

OR..

Maybe PD is just messing with us? Only time will tell.

EDIT: If you look to left of the banked corners there are some displays on top on the track it says "END OF KNOW CANT" what would that imply?

Now this is what I call evidence!

I have to agree with most people, Route X does give vibes that there is more to come...fingers crossed. 👍
