Welcome everyone. This thread is for the upcoming pre-season practice race that is happening this Friday, March 9th, 2012 @ 9pm EST. All info you need to know is listed below. If you have any questions, feel free to ask away.

  • Loosely based on actual V8 Supercars structure, except Ford vs. Holden is now Lexus vs. Mercedes-Benz
  • Friday, March 9th, 2012 @ 9pm EST
  • Please be in the room before 9:45pm EST
  • Race will be 35 minutes long
  • **Track TBD - Please vote above**
  • Race run with NO tire/fuel consumption
  • Cars are limited to 6 Gears ONLY. Penalties will be issued for not following this rule.

I should be able to make that. Is this mandatory to be able tot run in the actual series when it gets going? Oh and why is tire wear off?

Not mandatory, no.

And I think the cars feel better with tire wear off. I may change this in the future after some more testing. The problem is, I want the grip level of the Medium tires, but they would wear out too quickly.
 
Gotcha. How do I avoid using the 7th and 8th gear on the Lexus?
 
They are still there technically, but you won't need to use them. (or be able to - per rules)

You can, but it might make the car understeer more. Up to you. I'll put it up as optional.

Yes. You can have the gears any way you want, as long as you don't use 7th (both cars) or 8th (IS-F). In your case it would be 7th.

So how would you recommend avoiding this? I already set my cars gears according to your posted specs, but lets just say my knowledge of gear ratios is "limited".
 
With the recommended gearing, you shouldn't have to use the top 2 gears at all. If you need a bit more top end on a straight in 6th gear, just stretch it out a little more.

The tracks in the Poll above were where I tested the cars and most of them are tight tracks that use lower gears. Shouldn't need to even think about it.

Not 100% sure I can make it. Depends on what work I can find. I'll let you know if I have to drop out as soon as I know myself

I dont think you mencioned the aero parts in the first post... and if they are allowed do they provide both cars with the same range of downforce adjustment?

I might join if welcomed, I will just have to make some testing with both cars and see if it is compatible with my schedule... I will report tomorrow (if it is not too late)
 
I'll get the aero parts up here shortly. Basically its anything you want from front aero, and your choice of rear wing.
