AP Electrix Load Cell Mod for the Logitech G27 Pedals

I have installed this mod and it works very well. The best feel and ability to feather the brakes (threshold braking) is great.

Does anyone know if this will work with the PS3 allowing for calibration in GT5?
It works in GT5. Pedal calibration in GT5 is just pressing the pedals their full distance as you start the game? It works for me whether you do this or not, I'm not sure if pressing it when starting is actually doing any calibration though since there is nothing to tell you so. Please enlighten me if I'm wrong.

I had a look at how GT5 calibrates and I think you are right. When you first start up the game, the first time you put the car on the track the gas and break pedals "learn" the travel distance. I'm going to guess the load cell upgrade doesn't work as well on Gt5 as it would on a pc where you set the calibration yourself. I have a feeling in GT5 each time you press the load cell harder, it changes the amount of pressure needed to break for your next corner. Basically braking pressure would not be consistent for each lap.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong please. I'm trying to decide between upgrading the spring or going with the load cell mod.

I have not noticed this problem. The braking is consistent throughout any racing session that I have experienced. The best part is that you can jab the brake to get it slowed down and then let the pressure off to modulate the brakes as the weight transfers to the front. Very nice control and able to keep front end handling while slowing down.

@ StudeJeeper

What Oshawa-Joe say is possible
from What I understand, the point to calibrate the pedal for logitech is not on the Start right
Even within the game after starting, you can calibrate the pedal...no?
(i dun have PS3 so not sure)

but judging by PC connection with a DFGT
the PC Software page where it shows the Steering wheel/buttons and brake/acc pedal activation
For the 1st time connection both pedals will be super sensitive
with 1mm travel will = max pressure
but if you push halfway, the max limit will be there
and all the way, the limit will change to there

I am guessing that the signal is not how many volts through the potentiometer
but more of the change of volts between the initial with the pressed
in another words, the unit will lock on the 1st time volt sensing, and any pressure to the pressure will change the volts,
this change will be span across the range of the sensing
so if the change is minimal i.e. little change between initial and max press (~2mm)
the system will see the 2mm travel as the max pedal travel, so it become super sensitive
pressing further and further will span the range more enabling to be more precise braking/acc

so a pot type with the limit of pedal travel will have a max resistance
whereas, a load cell will have variance with the range spanning bigger and bigger, every time you press harder than before

things I need help to check out my theory *cough* blabber *cough* above
1. A G25 connected to GT5, with no pedal calibration on the start of the game, go into a race, and slowly press the Accelerator (halfway) and then all the way down, to determine if it calibrates there and then. Do the same with the brake pedal

2. For Load cell type, @StudeJeeper, are you using the above mod? If so, can you try something like this. Get something to press on the pedal (like standard weights or water bottle) start the game and calibrates the pedal with the lightest weight. Check to see that inside a race, the pedal register the lightest weight is maxing out the range of the pedal. If not, then it seems the system remembers the weight it supposed to be max, so no problem there. But if it do show max with the lightest weight, without quiting the race, use a heavier weight to press on the pedal. See it register as the max (obviously) remove the heavier ones, and placed back the lighter ones. If this register as the maximum range, no problem there but if it register any lower value, then you *might* have problem in race with some degree of variable (fresh legs/high adrenaline - push the range max back, while fatigue legs unable to reach maximum brake level)

but it just my theory, that I cant prove (no ps3, no G25, only DFGT to go by)

TLDR: What Oshawa-Joe might be true, from what i see how the DFGT work with a PC system

I've installed this mod too. but it doesnt work (even in GT5 or PC).

I follow the step from the website, but still not work

can you tell me the position of the 3 connector (red white black)?

thx

(sorry for bad english)

edit:
It works on PC, but even I press harder, the axis raise only a little. do i need to calibrate again??

and how i can calibrate pedal in GT5?

Edit: Problem Solved!

Working Perfectly in GT5, even with ABS 0, Brake Ballance 5-5, my tyre are rarely to locking. WOHO!!

Are you getting 100% braking indication on the braking power bar?

How did you solve your problem?, considering buying one..

for the first time I didnt do any mistake at the installation (I realized that very late, sorry).

JUST PRESS THE BRAKE REALLY HARD!!! until the brake bar full.

Are you getting 100% braking indication on the braking power bar?

yes, but it was so hard. need to press the brake with my full power.

it is 30kg pressure.

Can someone answer how this mod works on PC when wires are assembled for PS3?
Is making a jumpwires out from G27 pedals only solution for using this on both PC and PS3?
I don't have Bodnar.

Since every PC software I know allows you to map the brakes then it's doesn't matter how you wired the load cell. So wired it for the PS3 to work for both. For example on the PC instead of brakes being set to Z+ it would likely read Z- instead.
I have mine wired for the PS3 and it works for both PS3 and PC (I don't have Bodnar either).

Ok, thanks Zoom!Zoom! for this really helpful information what you gave to me.
Now I just have to wait manufacturer response to my email.
Anyhow gonna buy one, not yet sure is it going on my pedals or friends.

I've just fitted one, you have to do the Bodnar setup (swap ground for live) to make it work in GT5. Otherwise it's inverted and not much use. Seems to work well so far. A lot less travel but the pressure is a lot more controllable. Well worth the £60 and 10 month wait :D.

Yep just fitted mine too, was on order since April. I have pedal extension arms fitted too so pedal travel is still good. The feel is much improved and the ability to control the braking precisely when in heavy braking zones is a huge advantage. I don't play gt5 anymore so use it with the bodnar cable on pc sims.

These http://www.simracingstation.com/GB/SRS_GB.html

They're good, have adjustment up an down and also space out the pedals a little more too. I now race with kart boots on, feels much better than socks...and as you know with the ap electrix you need to put more pressure on which isn't good in socks....

You have a pedal combo that seems to not exist!

No word from the AP Electrix guy, and no ordering info from simracingstation.

Clubsport Pedals for me it is then! (By default)

There is a long waiting list for the AP Electrix mod. I waited over 6 months from pre-ordering. Not sure about the extensions, the links don't seem to work anymore, maybe they've stopped trading...
