Welcome to the Cappuccino Cup, a series featuring the Race Modified version of the Suzuki Cappuccino (EA21R) ‘95, an incredible little car that is a blast to drive and a challenge to master. Here you will find all levels of driver skill resulting in a unique mix of racing that produces battles throughout the entire field. It’s a series for newcomers to cut their teeth and for experienced drivers to sharpen their skills. The first three seasons were run by BrandonW77 and were very successful. I'd like to thank him for allowing me to take over the series.

Series Information​
  • Tier: Tier 1
  • Qualifying Format: Pre-Race Hotlaps
  • Qualifying Length: 15 Minutes
  • Race Format: Single Race
  • Race Distance: 65 or 90 km
  • Lounge: GTMSA_CappCup


Racing Regulations​
  • GTP's OLR applies.
  • In the event that the below rules conflict with the OLR, assume the rules below to be correct.
  • Cars must be run to the specifications given by GTMSA.
  • You must keep 4 tires on hard surfaces and 2 tires between the white lines on the edges of the track. You may have two tires on rumble strips as long as all 4 tires remain on a hard surface.
  • You may change lanes twice to defend your position.

1st: 15
2nd: 12
3rd: 10
4th: 8
5th: 6
6th: 5
7th: 4
8th: 3
9th: 2
10th: 1
DNF: Last Place (If applicable)
DNS: 1/2 Last Place + 1 (If applicable)

Your worst finish will be dropped at the end of the season, so if you have a bad race or miss one, it won't hurt you.

Incidents​
  • To report an incident, send a PM on GTPlanet to myself, (LancerEvo7), or another GTMSA official, stating the race, lap, turn, and drivers involved.
  • Do NOT use the in-game chat function to talk about incidents.
  • GTMSA officials will review the incident and apply penalties if necessary.
  • If you are deemed to be at fault for an incident, the following penalties will be applied depending on the severity of the incident:
    1. First Offense: Warning
    2. Second Offense: 30 Second Penalty added to finish
    3. Third Offense: Disqualification from one race
    4. Fourth Offense: Suspension for remainder of season
  • Stewards may also impose other penalties based on their discretion.

Tips & Tricks
  • Shift your Capp at 8,000 RPM. Even though the redline is somewhere north of 9,000 the torque curve drops off sharply at 8,000 and you will quickly lose power. For those that prefer automatic transmission, this car is not suited to an automatic because of the sharp power drop off after 8,000 RPM. Auto vs. Manual transmission will cost you 1-2 second per laps on most tracks, all other things being equal.
  • Give your tires plenty of time to warm up. This is a lightweight car with low-hp and it sometimes takes a while to get heat into the tires. Some tracks take longer than others.
  • Keep an eye on your horsepower, when you see it start to drop it's time for an oil change. It seems the Capp likes its oil changed after about every 4-5 races.
  • Clear your cache before entering the room! This will help reduce connection problems.

Prizes​
1st in points - Any NCD car under 1,000,000 Cr.
2nd in points - Any NCD car under 750,000 Cr.
3rd in points - Any NCD car under 500,000 Cr.
1st in an Endurance Race - 1 Suit and Helmet, and 1 Paint Chip of driver's choosing.

Any of the top 3 finishers may also choose a one-of-a-kind tuned model from East Coast Cars.

I'm interested. When you say you must be tier 2, do you mean at least tier 2? Does any organized series count towards your tier?
 
Yes to both. Just from us racing together, you're definitely good to go.

EDIT: Making it tier 1, anyone can join. I was going to do a feeder series, but that seems like too much work at this point.

For anyone reading this thread thinking that the Cappuccino won't be much fun because it's only 137 hp I can tell you from experience it is a lot of fun to race, especially on SS or RH tires. With it's short wheelbase and lightweight it's somewhat challenging to master but very rewarding when you do. Many good tunes are available for the car as well and I'm sure several would be posted in this race thread, if not copied and pasted over.
 
I am very interested depending on time slot/day. I cut my online racing teeth in this series and have been looking forward to a shot at another season in this little wonder.

Welcome all. I'm looking to start this in early June, since people may be more interested in GT Academy, I'll be in summer vacation and have more time, and I won't be here at all Memorial Day weekend.

Once again, looking for suggestions, epsecially for the final track.

I say shuffle it round a bit, using Nurburg GP/D as the final track, and putting High Speed Ring in the slot where the Nurburgring was, mainly as you don't really want to lose the title because of a draft-fest.

Correct. It was in the running for Capp Cup Season 2 and Flyin' Miata Season 4, but got cut during schedule changes for both.
 
Holy wide course batman! I'd love to see deep forest reverse again...just saying :P I'd like a retry at that last lap pass from season 1 :P
 
Updates:
1. The GTMSA_CappCup PSN has been created. Send a friend request, as that is where you'll be able to download custom tracks, view shared setups, and most importantly, access the race lounge.
2. The Castlehill round will take place on the narrower version of the track made for Flying Miata Super Cup to make the course more challenging.

Entry list is up-to-date. I've also added a little length to the races, at 50 km distance they only would've been about 10-15 laps, depending on the track.
