So far it seems the US is the only country able to register. If this is the case after today then we can merge this post into the (NA) thread.

To be eligible for the National Finals in July, you MUST register through the National Event Registration Form between June 08, 2012 to June 24, 2012. Failure to register before the required deadline will result in disqualification of the National Finals, even if you make it to the top 32 leaderboards. So don’t wait, register immediately

This is the first true step of the journey for the winner of 2012 GT Academy. So get it out of the way and register asap.

Good luck to every one, there's going to be plenty of heartache and glory to go around, that's why we look up to motorsport, that's why we're doing this! May the best men go on!

It’s hard to believe, but the online competition of GT Academy 2012 is quickly coming to a close. Since May 1st, nearly 900,000 competitors have driven more than 118,000,000 miles and reattempted 124,000,000 times for their chance to become this year’s GT Academy Champion.

With only two weeks left on the clock, you must take everything you have learned from the eight-round training program and put it on the line for the one FINAL online time trial challenge – Round 8, Event 5. This event is only open from June 11, 2012 to June 24, 2012 so make it count! Only the fastest lap times will be recorded and entered into the national leaderboards so you must improve your results to move up in rankings. The top 32 players (pending eligibility verification) will be flown to the National Finals in July where they will compete against each other to be one of the 16 finalists.

To be eligible for the top 32 players and compete in the National Finals in July, you MUST register through the National Event Registration Form between June 8, 2012 to June 24, 2012. Failure to register before the required deadline will result in disqualification of the National Finals, even if you make it to the top 32 leaderboards. So don’t wait, register immediately

Good luck. Your destiny to the GT Academy – Top 32 National Finalists is just two short weeks away.

Just registered, even though I have no idea if our eligibility has changed. As of last week our "inside man" was still working on it.

Edit: Someone pointed out that the new rule sheet doesn't say anything about last years finalists being excluded...

I noticed that too, although it's still in the FAQs. :indiff:

Too bad I'm too young to actually participate :( Good luck to everyone!!
Too bad I'm too blind to actually participate :(

Can't wait to try out Motegi as I always had difficulty with the track in GT4 due to the sun. Now I've got hundreds of laps of practice with it in Forza 4, so I'm chomping at the bit to give it another go in Gran Turismo.

Okay, I have a semi long question, but it may apply to more than just me.

I've been playing GT Academy using an account that has a non-existant email address linked to it. Also, in that account, I lied about my age for security reasons and therefore cannot change it. Now, according to the official rules, your PSN information must be confirmed to be correct or that user may face disqualification. Also, it states that if a user plays GT Academy and post to individual times using different accounts, they may be disqualified (Although I'm not sure if that applies to rounds 1-7). So as of now, I'm not able to compete due to the rules/my previous actions.

I just realized that between working WWDC and taking my wife on vacation I'm out of town for the next two weeks!

A true first world problem though I think! :)

OFFICIAL WORD: 2011 Finalists NOT eligible.

👎

Oh well, I still want to see where I stack up. They can just skip over me.

That sucks man. Hopefully you'll be eligible again in the future. Sucks being penalized because your good.

Cool :D, I never realized that was you.

EDIT: Then again I never read people's signatures.

Could you not just create a legit PSN, register it, gold all events and be ready for 8-5? Honest question, but if you can't change current PSN info seems that would be the easy way to go about it instead of risking DQ.

Yes, that's what I'm planning on doing (I'm waiting for a response from Sony on this). Here's where I may run into trouble. According to the official rules, "Contestants may only register once. If a contestant registers more than once, Sponsor may disqualify some or all of that contestant’s entries." Now, by "register more than once", I assume they mean someone who tries to register more than once on Gran Turismo.com, rather than someone who's simply posted two separate event times with two separate accounts (For rounds 1-7). Also, I believe these rules apply only to round 8-5. However, I am the son of a lawyer, and with fine print, you cannot assume anything.

True. Although chances of us making it again with 3x the participants was very slim. Would have been nice to have a chance though.

Give them a reason that they should have let you participate. Go get you some R1600 .

One chance for everyone. I think it's fair. GT Academy doesn't give 2nd chances and im fine with it. ;)
