In the event of a field of 13-16 drivers we will disable mics and race with one grid. With 17+ we will split the grid.

(table will auto update approximately every 30 minutes)

Eligibility

This WRS-Online event hosted by 3D3 Racing is open to GTP_Registered members only. If you are not currently on the registry run the GTP_Registry qualifier and join now!

Registration Instructions

The following must be performed by every driver for every event:
  • Click the registration button above, fill-in and submit the online registration form (use your GTP_ tag ID)
  • Leave a quick note in this thread to let us know you've registered and any other comments.
The following must be performed only one time per driver (not per event):
  • Send a PSN friend request to GTP_3D3Racing, GTP_3D3_A and GTP_3D3_B from your GTP_tag account.
  • Submit the 3D3 Racing Online Driver Database Entry Form. Your information will need to be verified before you are added to the db and before your ID will appear in the registered driver table above. You can view the official driver database here.

There is a 32 car/driver limit for this event (per region) and slots are awarded on the grid using a first come first serve basis. Reference the registered drivers table above for availability. This is a stand alone race and points are not tallied for a series. Future WRS-Online races hosted by 3D3 racing may have different driver limits and will require re-registration using the same first come first serve basis and participation in future events is optional.

Registration Changes

If you want to change your time slot, add a time slot or update your color choices just click on the registration link and fill out the form again and submit with new values. Your last entry will override any previous entries.

Cancellations

If for some reason, after you register for the event, you are unable to attend please click the registration button above and complete the form again selecting "cancel" as your status. Please also post a note in this thread as the table above can take some time to update.

Delaying or Restarting Race Start

Once the race countdown timer has started, the race will only be restarted in these cases:
  • Multiple drivers report a black screen/hang, instead of the 3-2-1 countdown.
  • One or more drivers get disconnected before race-pace has begun ("GO" for grid-starts, end of formation lap for rolling starts).
  • Steward realizes there is a condition that would lead to an unfair or poor race experience.

Once the race countdown timer has started, the race will explicitly NOT be restarted for:
  • Latecomers, even if you've registered
  • Driver realizes he picked the wrong car parts (ie, tires) or driving options (ie, Auto tranny)

  • Be cautious and courteous in the first turn. Dive bombing will be penalized and will not be tolerated.

Standard Clean OLR Rules Apply:

  • Unless otherwise specified, all rules from the original WRS event apply.
  • You are expected to drive clean at all times as if you are racing in the WRS. All participants are required to follow the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules & Guidelines.
  • 3D3 Race Stewards (who are taking part in race, but will review the replay) reserve the right to kick out or invalidate the result of any driver from the Race Room for driving offensively. If you ignore any warnings from the stewards and are kicked out of the race room, you will not be allowed to participate in future 3D3 events.
  • Contact with walls should be avoided. Wall riding/bouncing to gain time will be penalized and/or can result in disqualification.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • Runoff areas are not part of the track including green painted concrete.
  • Limit your contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • No hybrids
  • No cheating of any kind
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • Passing and Blocking: Aggressive blocking is not permitted, but the driver in front has the right to choose his/her line and braking point and drivers behind should respect that line. Be especially careful when you are on older tires than the competition as the speed difference may be significant. These events are "for fun" so just play nice and take a conservative rather than an aggressive approach when possible.

Good Luck, OLR Team:gtplanet:

Still considering whether or not I will run this combo, but might I suggest the starting point for the races be at the line for T3 on the GP circuit? Should give ample time for the field to get into order and probably the best place for a race start before getting to the Nordschliefe. An 80km/h (50mph) formation lap might help as well if you do decide to use that point for the race start.

Hi guys. Back from Austrian GTA-finals this weekend, you know how to keep me racing. How can I miss a race on the Ring?

Any suggestions from the guys that ran the offline TT regarding setup? Is the Praiano one competitive...? (I'd especially like to know before I install the rigidity improvement... :sly: )

Registered for the EU race, really looking forward to the race 👍

I used the Praiano tune and it work really well in my opinion.
We'll see what the admins decide about the final specs of the car tough.

The specs of the car are very unlikely to change. We are considering open tire choice, but otherwise will run at TT specs.

So tell us about the GTA-finals!

Ok, (relatively) short version, since off-topic here...

Day 1: 3 Time-Trials
Warm-Up: 5 minutes 370Z at Tsukuba to get familiar with hardware, etc.
TT1: 370Z at Tsukuba. 1 warm-up lap, then 2 fast laps, fastest counts.
TT2: GT-R SpecV at Grand Valley East. 1 warm-up lap, then 3 laps, all of which counted.
TT3: 370Z Tuned at Suzuka. 1 warm-up lap, 2nd lap counts.

I finished 2nd, 4/5th and 1st in these - was probably 2nd overall. (they didn't tell us, just who got through and who was out)

General rules where what the game allows as a correct lap. Red laps where counted with 10 sec. penalty.

After this, 18 remained for day 2, which only consisted of 1 TT to find the top 12.
TT4: Nissan Calsonic on Nürburgring GP/D. 1 warm-up lap, then 3 laps, all of which counted like on TT2.

I didn't take any risks on that one, because I had to go first and couldn't look at other people's braking points and because I didn't figure I had much chance overall, so I ended up 4th on that one, but I was through.

The last 12 got to take part in a media interview and then to drive a 370Z around a handling track. You got 1 sighting lap and then 2 timed ones. (and I'm afraid I was pretty bad on this one compared to the others, because I had no experience with a car like this at all)

Last was a pretty gruelling fitness test, which I sucked at, as expected. I cite age as the main reason. :sly:

Summary:
- The 2 best guys overall get to go to race camp, so it was fair.
- I got to drive the 370Z, which was my goal. Me = happy. (And everyone agreed...we want that car! It's THAT good)

Sounds awesome. Glad you enjoyed yourself and got to achieve your goal and drive that 370Z. 👍

I'm debating about this one. I have a feeling that after we get onto the Nordschleife (sp?) I won't see anyone again. Still, I like the car and love the track, so it might just be fun anyway.

Yes, that happens somewhat. We ran something similar for "9 Lives" and it's a tough race. There is some heavy action at the start and if you stay clean you'll pass guys as they recover from incidents, but it's definitely more lonely than your average track.

The bigger the field the more likelihood of having some company of course so hopefully we get some good numbers. If it's only 6-7 it will basically turn into a battle of splits and staying clean...

That type of race can also be fun, but would be much more so if there was a way to see splits of the driver just in front and just behind. Having only splits to the leader definitely takes away from the fun factor in this type of race.

I guess we'll have to learn all the corner names and call them out on the mic as we navigate them. Come on Kaz, look what you've made us resort to.

That is so true. Even the ancient Grand Prix Legends tells you splits in front and behind.

Has anyone tested tires yet? Will the R3s wear out before the end of a lap or so? How far do the R1s take you? It's a long lap to miss on pit strategy.

Yes, you can get two laps on R3 tires if you manage them at all. For just one lap stints you can push the car to the ends of their grip and beyond and still make a full lap no problem.

I think we are going to pass on the open tire choice and stick with softs only. Based on my testing you can make one or two lap stints and the times are *very* close... so strategy is still a factor and less testing is required for each driver. I'm waiting for some feedback from the other admins before we finalize that decision, but so far that choice is unanimous among admins who have given me feedback.

Your decision will come down to pushing like crazy and pitting every lap... or holding back just a little and running 2 laps. Should ease the burden on every driver as far as testing different tires and scenarios.

Note that if you push like a time trial on two laps without pitting you are going to be in trouble unless you know exactly the limits of the tires. You also may want to investigate a tune that's a bit easier on the front tires if you are planning the 2 lap stint strategy.

It took a lot of work for that one to sink in!

...that's what she said. :dunce:

Practicing. Feel free to join, even if you want to practice for enduro. I don't mind either.

I was just thinking of trying a couple setups. Be there in a few.

Trying to get in, but keep getting a lobby server error.

UPDATE: PS3 reboot worked... I'm in now.

R3s should be fine for the race. depends on the # of laps, but it definitely gets easier as fuel goes down. I was able to do two laps both with full and lighter tanks (and that included a few spins... trying to multitask and watch the Olympics). Would be nice to be able to us ASM for the Carousel on the 2nd lap though!:grumpy:

Normally when I find the carousel slippery, I take the flat outer portion of it. It's just as fast and you won't get thrown off balance by the transitions.

Thanks, I'll try that. I spun there a few times on my second lap.
