!Sundays 11am EST/4pm BST, Hosted by TomMcD!
time subject to change

sanctioned by PURE

Welcome to the inaugural season of the GTP Grand Am Sports Car Series presented by GTP America. This is an endurance sports car series devoted to the drivers of the GTP NASCAR and IndyCar series. Races will be distance/timed events with 1.5 hour time limit on tracks that are or closely approximate the tracks used in the Grand Am series in real life. In addition there will be a 3-race Grand Am Endurance Championship featuring 2 hour timed races at the Nurburgring GP/F and Indianapolis Road Course, as well as the marquee event of the series, the GTPlanet 2.4 Hours of Daytona.
There will be 2 classes of car competing at the same time; Daytona Prototype and Grand Touring. The DP class is represented by the Pagani Zonda R. At 550hp and 1070kg the Zonda R is a car that wants to bite your head off, brutally punishing mistakes. The driver who can tame this beast will be crowned Daytona Prototype Champion. GT will be a game of consistency. A manufacturer’s battleground with entrants from Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Ferrari, and Mazda, each car has its own characteristics. The Audi and Mazda rely on their handling, the Ferrari and Camaro on power, and the BMW and Corvette on their all-around package. The Grand Touring Champion will be the driver that can maximize the strengths and minimize the weaknesses of their car.
In addition to the two Drivers Championships and a Manufacturer’s Championship in GT, there will be a Teams Championship in both classes. Teams are as follows:

Preseason Schedule:

Indianapolis Road Course Tire Test: 19/8/2012
PURE-style qualifying test through the week
Tokyo R246 1-Hour Exhibition Race: 26/8/2012

I would like to try out PURE-style qualifying during the week, 4 lap races, warm-up, two hot laps, cool down, with Stewards attending and writing down times. Then an hour or half hour warm-up before the race on Sunday, qualifying times having been released a certain time before the room opens.

Mid-Ohio course is available to download, send Friend Request if you are interested

it is obviously not a perfect replica of Mid-Ohio but the layout is similar especially the first sector and fourth sector. the middle sector has a downhill chicane on the backstretch that has no relation to anything on the real Mid-Ohio course but it is in itself a very challenging set of corners. There is a pseudo-Carousel and the final corner is a faster version of the Keyhole.

yeah broken in it has 555 lb/ft of torque, reason for stage 3 engine upgrade, wanted to give it more of a V8 nature.

requires some patience when putting down the power but once you get used to it its a really rewarding car to drive.

You think that one is hard you wouldn't want to try this one...

There is a Tune from Den could be moded for your less weight/power car, and yes it on racing hards too 👍.

Still concidering joining but thanks for the invite.

Just downloaded your Mid Ohio track, it gets two big 👍 from me. Really fun to drive.

Look there is only room for one Rolex series here on GTP. I think its clear which one needs to go and it isn't the one going on to its third season. So either you shut down your Rolex series or we will take matters into are own hands. The drivers of my Rolex series aren't happy. They won't stand for it and neither will I.

Thanks for making us look so hostile James.

James, first it's Polars series not yours. 2nd Polars isn't idealy suited to most UK/Euro players due to it being after midnight for them. 3rd this is a completely different concept race hards and 1 spec DP, instead of 3 onrace softs and GTs are min DF race cars and 1 full DF road car again on race hards.

That said I'm not sure I'll be joining this anyway and maybe dropping out of Rolex due to a new job. (If I get it ofc)

 have you been drinking James? I mean that in all seriousness, because you PM'd me all day yesterday asking about joining this series and talking **** about the Rolex series you are in!

And thank you Paul, the Rolex is Polarbear's series, the only opinion that really matters to me regarding this is polarbear's.

James this is designed as something totally different in DP and GT, i've been providing a bit of backroom assistance with this. The hostility is totally unreasonable. Also you cannot tell someone to shut down their series, it is their call and their wish. Stop complaining and rather than trying to stir 🤬 up how about trying to co-operate. :)

Hello. I am Tez_SP17, one of the current racers in the Rolex Sports Car Series. I've been involved with the specification of the GT class cars of the series since the very beginning of its creation on GTP, and helped in my own way to shape the series into what it is now. I'm not Polarbear, but I've done enough for the Rolex series to warrant my views on par with his.

Seeing this series, which is the first time seeing it at about midday today, I can't help but ask a couple questions, want to expand on what I feel is the possible reasons.

The first question is.... What? What really makes your Sports Car Series different to the one already in place?

Aside from the fact that this series has RM versions/Race Car versions of most of the cars in the other series, they're basically the same cars. With that respect, they're not technically TOTALLY different. The only true difference here being is using one make for DP. Also, while you're using custom tracks, the Grand Am Endurance Championship part is essentially the NAEC for the RSCS. I can't help but feel that behind all the tiny things that make this different, you're covering up the similarities. As a sidenote, the quali note-checking and releasing on the day of the race seems a lot like my GT World Series' qualifying procedures. I don't know how long you've been using this system (given I never bother looking at any PURE threads), but I find it suspicious that I see it here after my own series will impliment it.

The second question is.... Why? Why is there a need for you guys to insist on making a second one?

There is already one Sports Car Series, the Rolex one, in place that has been in place for at least 6 months. IF you really wanted co-operation, there was nothing stopping you guys from putting your thoughts towards us as plans/ideas for Season Three via PMs or comments in the thread. There was nothing stopping you helping us with regulations for incidents and what not, or joining the series for a few races and giving feedback on what maybe or may not need considering for next season, and helping the original series grow.

Instead, you make your own "unique" series. Hmmmm.... Forgive me, but in my eyes, that's not looking for co-operation. Whichever way you want to look at it, this does seem as though this is a series trying to feed off of a lot of pre-organised groundwork of an existing, barring the exception of a few tweaks. Thus, this will look from an outside viewpoint as a series trying to directly compete with one already in place.

^^^the time zone suits most of us better and it was meant to be a NASCAR and Indycar thing. Also just because someone uses a similar style quali to you, doesn't mean they copied you. I have seen many other series that use pretty much the same specs run fine together, WTCC with TOCA, many of the Super GT championships, so why can't these?

Storm with all due respect bar DP this is just a down tuned version of the Spot race we had back in January (Was before Rolex existed). Fraser was given them or used them as a base so imo this is just a continuation of those regs. Also the biggest difference is the time difference 4pm BST is more suited to Euros that can't stay late, past midnight.

As Gokart and I have been trying to say is that this is more different to BTCC/WTCC differences etc.

Since there are mostly UK drivers here, they don't feel like racing at 3 AM, so this fits better.

Having raced in that series I do think this might be a little more organized, and cleaner.

I'm not sure if you read Wardez's post on your interest checks thread but it kind of explained everything. There's a few differences in spec and execution of the series and also, our time is easy to make for European drivers, whilst yours isn't really; not a complaint, just an observation. The qualifying system is standard PURE procedure by the way.

The series will have two completely different sets of drivers. We won't 'steal' any drivers from you because all of our drivers will most likely either come from GTP America series or PURE. I think we all need to stop arguing and co-exist because these arguments are putting people off both the series and giving off a bad image.

I'm kinda hoping it doesn't affect interest, since the thing I'm worried most about is this new series the current one. As I said, I pay no attention to other series', so if PURE's procedure is similar then fair enough.

I still stand by the thing I mentioned about co-operation, though. I mean, even if it was a "we're doing some slight changes to what you guys are doing in your series, and we're doing our series on a different day, do you mind?" that's still co-operation in my books. Maybe something like this was mentioned via PMs, but I didn't see any mention in discussions I've been involved in.

Frasier talked to polarbear whom I understand is the series host. They originally agreed, then some other people got involved and 'offended' and now the situation has diffused slightly. Let's keep it that way 👍

EDIT: I can almost guarantee it won't affect your attendance.

I want to apologies for my post last night it was completely uncalled for. I should not have flipped out like that. I am sorry for posting what I did. If you don't mind I would love to be the team owner for Stevenson Motorsports if you will allow me to. I hope you accept my apology and maybe are two series can sometime work side by side toghether.

I'm happy with the response I received. Thank you for your patience.

I think I was just worried that the series Polar planted the seed for would be overshadowed, left to wither and die before it could bloom and flourish.

I'm a little confused about the OP where it says devoted to the drivers of the GTP NASCAR and Indycar series. Does that mean you had to have participated in those to do this or is it open to all?

its open to anyone, this series is simply under the GTP America umbrella along with NASCAR and IndyCar so I wanted to encourage drivers from those series to participate in this
