Welcome To:
Season 3 of The Rolex Sports Car Series!
Welcome to our third season! We've made it this far, and are starting to get the hang of this! After a second season of highs and lows, I believe we are ready to bring our most complete, and fair season yet! Without further ado, I now present you the list of new additions to Season 3 of The Rolex Sports Car Series!
- The Viper is no longer eligible in GT.
- The Evora is now the 5th GT car.
- There are now Stewards.
- You will now be able to "Drop" a race from the championship.
- We have taken off tracks that have places to corner cut.
- We will now use Racing Medium tires, softs are banned.
- DP cars are now lighter, and very close to real life Grand Am specs.
- Only Aid allowed is ABS, ALL others will be banned.
General Information:
Since this series is based off of the real life Grand Am Rolex Sports Car Series, we try to recreate the racing that series offers, on Gran Turismo 5. Since the game doesn't have any Daytona Prototype (DP) cars, or Race car Grand Touring (GT) cars, we have thought up some great substitutions! Since we don't have any DP cars, we use Group C cars. These cars definitely look like the real life DP cars (With a bit of imagination) and provide some excellent racing! Since we don't have the race versions of all the cars in the real life series, we use their street car counterparts, with GT Auto aero upgrades! These make the cars look pretty darn close to their real life racecar versions. This system has worked great for us in our first two seasons, and we hope it does the same in season 3!
Cautions And Start Procedure:
We will be using the same caution system as season 2. What will bring out a caution? A crash between 2 cars. When the crash happens, both drivers MUST type "Caution" into the chat box. Once BOTH "Caution" messages have shown up, Both class leaders will drastically slow down, and their respective classes will catch up. Once both classes are together, BOTH classes will pit at the same time. After everyone has exited the pits, both classes will line up, and continue around the track at 60 mph. This start will be staggered, so the GT cars should give the DP cars plenty of room to restart without the two classes having problems with each other.
The start procedure will be like this:
Race will be started and everyone will show up on the grid. The GT cars should let the DP cars past, and both classes will get into order based off of their qualifying times. This will all take place on the formation lap. The formation lap will be a slow first lap at 60 mph. The start will be staggered, so the GT cars will give a gap between themselves and the DP cars. The race will begin once the class leaders cross the finish line.
Stewards:
New for season 3, we will be having stewards! There will be two representatives from each class, to steward the opposite class. So, GT guys will steward DP incidents, and the DP guys will steward GT incidents. ALL incidents should be PM'ed to myself, polarbear345, either here or on GTPlanet. I will from there forward the message to the appropriate steward. Steward List is as follows:
DP:
Cnd01
Polarbear345
These will be the people doing the GT stewarding.
GT:
Tbwhhs
Anirishnirvana (Damuemogirl)
These will be the people doing the DP stewarding.
Championships And Times:
We will be running four championships again, the regular championship, and the NAEC. NAEC stands for North American Endurance Championship. The NAEC is a three round championship with longer races at three American tracks. Daytona Road, Indy Road, and Laguna Seca. These races will be longer than the regular race, at about 1 hour 45 minutes in length. The regular race will be about 1 hour 15 minutes. Race day schedule:
Every Saturday!:
6:20 PM EST: Room opens, and qualifying starts!
6:55 PM EST: Qualifying ends, grid orders figured out and getting prepared for race!

That's all!
Can't make all the races? No problem! Just sign up as a general reserve for the class you'd like to race in! You should have all the cars for your class, because you'll be added to a list that the regulars can use to find a replacement if they need to miss a race. The registration form is the same.
