Anyone remember this pre-release photo? The "lost" Mini Cooper? It would've been a blast to drive, shame it's not in. Any idea what happened to it and if there are any other cars that never made it to the final game?

Maybe the base model is the one in the game and just the livery/wing was removed? I think I remember someone in Sorg's thread say it was a scrapped RM?

It looks nice too.

This has happened in previous Gran Turismo games so I'm not surprised. Such as the Stratos missing from GT3 etc.

If we see it after the release and known that we haven't gotten the car then we would be excited to know that there's another missing car, but if we had it from the release of GT5 then we would look at it like another ordinary car in GT5.

It's because it crashed prior to the release of the game.

Seriously: It does look like an RM, apart from the weird looking number decal on the side and the rear window. Might have been an early concept? It also doesn't look very modified in the body work, apart from the wing. Other RM's and especially the TC's have more modified bodywork. There also seems to be a name and a flag on the side window, I don't think any other RM / TC has got that. Could it be a replica of a real racing car?

Eks

Would have to be an RM. The body such as the bumper and side are different then any of the MINIs we currently have.

I wonder if it's hidden in the game's files. Maybe a decent hacker can revive it?

Sorg has said time and time again: "There are no hidden cars in the game files of GT5 that we don't already know about"

Has anyone seen any other pictures of it? I could only find this one. Sucks it wasn't in the game, GT5 needs a racing Mini.

First time ive ever seen it, shame it didnt make it into the final cut, who knows why it didnt, PD move in mysterious ways sometimes !

Good find though

There's also a video out there of an orange version of it. I sadly can not find this video. It was however found in a 2009 games show or store version of the game where you drive the 2008 Impreza rally car around Tokyo R246. Since then it was never to be seen of again.

hmm looks like a Mini Hot Wheels Car with a different livery. Maybe it was a TC concept? Either way it looks kinda cool.

It's racing against a Blitz R34, Focus WRC, SX4 WRC, Wedssport IS, CT230R, C4 WRC, and an Impreza WRC so it must have been pretty fast. Wish it was in the game.

This may sound stupid, but I'm not sure if it would work. If you put any part from another car and go into GT Auto you had the option to RM the car even though it wouldn't do anything.

So if you put anything from another car into the Mini Cooper then go into GT Auto then you RM it maybe it would change the visuals to the lost Mini Cooper.

There's another car in the game that was not released but, it was in GT5P. The Tuned Z06. Look at the photo for the Nurburgring 4hr. You will see the white Corvette at front LHS of the pic.

I just saw a video of that Z06 you're talking about. Looks insanely fun to drive! I never played GT5P though, only the official GT5. The menus and music feel more inviting than GT5's menus do. They have the feel of a driving game from years ago like R:Racing Evolution. Why can't GT5 have that same feel?

Played GTPSP like a boss. My FPB GT VS the zondas, and beemer at that french course on B grade 3 laps.

WINAR!

@GranTurismo916 nice eyes man i didnt see those frontrunners.

and yeah, it musta been fast to keep up with the Hipermax Evo.

Has there been an updated answer/reason as to why the FPVs were left out/omitted?

Another oddball is we have the body kit for the Tuned Clio V6, the proper Rays wheels are not available as on the Tuned Clio in GT5P.

Back on topic: there was definitely room to make a Mini Challenge. It is only one car, 16 numbers and 16 colours to provide. Even a body in white and pick your number, still would have worked for the Mini Challenge event.

The normal and RM version's are completely different cars in the game.
It's not that your car gets modified, your car gets replaced by a RM model.
The race-car visuals cannot be applied to any other car then the 17 RM models.

You need a livery editor for it...which hopefully comes with GT6 (wishful thinking)

Oh, ok. Thanks 👍

That Corvette can be recreated via hybrids. :D
Give the Z06 some spoilers, Z0 RM Chassis + Bits Suspension, Brakes .etc and there you go!

That's usually indicative of a rally car. Mybe it was meant to be one of the few we got.
