Hello everybody,
I am new to this forum. I think this write-up section is great.
So I thought I'd share my endurance experience.
The mission
1st objective: 4hrs Nurburgring, and make it a bit challenging. There's nothing I hate more than starting an endurance only to find out I've lapped everybody a dozen times halfway through.
2nd objective: use normal tires (n1 or n2 or n3). Never used these before, thought this was a good opertunity.
3rd objective: Not buying anything new. Taking notes from the accounts of Mr. Scrooge.
Checking a typical line up. The fastest car wil usually be some NSX, at least it was with me.
From the cars I currently got I selected the Ford Escort Rally Car '98 with a stage3 turbo already installed. I thought this would be an effective combination, a race car with al little wing: downforce to cancel out some of the decrease in grip from the normal tires.
After a test run with N1 tires I found out that these take a staggering 2 laps (yes that's over 40km's
) to warm up.
I bet they would have lasted for ages, but they weren't working out with the ford escort.
On to the race than. The field:

Honda NSX Type R '02
Chevy Camaro SS '00
Pontiac GTO '04
Evo VIII MR GSR '04
Honda NSX type S '01
And me of course. Ford Escort Rally Car '98
We're off. At about a quarter lap, I have overtaken the Type S, Evo and GTO. My tires are cold, which I forgot
trying a bold overtaking move on the camaro. But it's only a matter of time. About halfway through the first lap I overtake the camaro.
Now I start paying attention to the track section times, and I notice something a little disturbing. I'm losing loads of time on the leading Type R NSX. Well, with my tires now warming up and a little extra effort, I try to minimise the time loss.
At this point I'm counting on the Type R, which I see as the main opposition to pit in lap 5, with me pitting in lap 6.

I carry on, with things looking bleeker every minute.
I manage a 7:59 lap, but other laps so far have been in the 8:05 to 8:10.
A few lawn mower moves in lap 4 led to me being overtaken by the other NSX, the Type S. With me now about 40 seconds behind the type R, I'm thinking of quitting.
So I give it another lap. I figure, I have about 30 minutes invested in this, and if I can't win it, I'll let Backwards B-Spec Bob finish it for some Cr.'s.
Well it's the end of lap 5, and Woohoo the Type S is pitting in ! 👍
But wait, there's another blue dot on that track map, that has passed the Start/finish without pitting. Nooooo, the type-R is gonna run another lap ! 👎
With my back tires going dark yellow and the front ones going light orangyish I need to get another good lap out of them.
Oh hell, I'll give it a go. I've come this far.
When I cross the finish line I'm 46 seconds behind the type R. So I try, and I try.
T1-45 seconds behind. Now that's some good driving.
T2 42 seconds behind. Hang on, I'm not that good. 💡
T3 40 seconds behind. There's something rotten in the state of denmark...erm I mean on the Ring.
T4 33 seconds behind. Could it be....no....YES, that stupid AI has sent the type-R for another lap on worn tires.
And sure enough there it is, "parked" in the grass. These are the moments you'd wish PD had put in a horn.
Now another race starts, after the type-s has also overtaken the type-r.
The type s is about 30 seconds behind me with fresh, cold tires, with me going faster despite the now orange tires. I pit at the end of the lap, and come out with a 10 second lead.
On cold tires the Type-S is gaining, when the tires are warm, I win on good laps, and loose on bad ones.
Laps 5 - 30 show a reoccuring predictable pattern, of me loosing a little when on cold tires, but gaining more when Type S is on new ones.
I pit every 6 laps, the type S pits every 5 laps.
The Finish: I win (obviously) with a 2:01 lead on the Type S in lap 30.
Mission Success.
Let me know what you think,
Cheers,
