OMG why does it need a HD"TV for PS3 Why.............. I can't afford to buy a HD"TV man ooooooo i can't play GT series anymore >.<, Why Sony have to make it diffcult, why not just use normal TV to play?

I don't think the PS3 even comes with an HDMI lead.

I doubt that. Sony is not dumb enough to force every one that doesn't have HD to buy a converter. They will have some basic video out; like composite or s-video.

I don`t. If you are a doctorate in DSP, video compression and H.264, that`s your problem, leave.
I think this is still a very interesting issue. But i think 2012 a little bit early to cease "normal" TVs production.
I went to a Broadcast & Cable event in august and i personally have spoken with some Panasonic important people (it was an universal coincidence. I am not THAT important to them).
Well, they said that IN JAPAN, only a minor percentage of transmissions is HDTV. It is all digital but SDTV still is the great majority of signals.
Also, SDTV allows bandwitdh-sharing. SDTV occupies about 20% [need to confirm this] of HDTV signal.
Like thegreatms said, Obviously they are trying to compatibilize PS3 even to work in a B&W TV (i don`t see one of these for about 11 years, indeed). A good console, with this elevated value, WILL have RCA output, composite output, HDMI, etc.

Actually, I'm going to have to agree with yeti.
This is a bad thread Title, Subject, and discussion for that matter.
The non-HD GT game play has been addressed (probably somewhere before this as well).
The tech aspects of the PS3 should probably be in another spot (or already are in another spot).
The "spam" factor can be high in this sort of thread.
And the HD philosophy debate should be held somewhere else as well (as I'm sure there is one of those already)
Since it didn't happen before I got here...

Btw, I agree with "yeti" obviously but the spam factor of the reply itself kills rep potential. Likewise, the less than welcoming response by Dimitrov doesn't exactly help his rep potential either (but these are my personal thoughts not related to mod work and no rep of any kind has been given out). ( sometimes it's better to nothing than it is to get something bad)
