custom picture mode tailored specifically
I would prefer a picture mode that totally forgoes any filters or does not enhance anything at all, because this picture would be the one the developer/director has intended it to be.

How the heck is a 3rd party supposed to know how something shall look?

Dating back to my first non-CRT tv and the PS2, only by playing a single game (one MegaMan/RockMan that outdates the console by at least 10 years) did I have severe input lag that needed the "game mode" of the tv to be activated. That is technically utter rubbish.

I agree that a 3rd party wouldn't know. But my TV is a Sony, so I guess they know exactly what to do with this PS5 mode. :P

I've never had the need for a game mode on any tv I've had, except this one when paired with a PC / when I stream GeForce Now on it. I haven't touched any settings to make it work for PS5, didn't need to. But I do agree, so much post processing that makes games lag. Weird stuff.

Took them quite some time, so better believe it does what it suggests ;)

Looked up something just to know whether they do more...

Crosshair by tv settings? okay, that is a bit far beyond what I thought.

Haha never seen a crosshairs setting on mine, but then again I rarely play anything else than GT on my PS5. Interesting.
