Cadillac CTS-V

The interior looks like Deckard meets marilyn manson.

I could go on and on.....But. I'm pretty sure it is currently the best selling Cadillac. It was in the Matrix Reloaded and Bad Boyz ll. Its RWD. It has tires. It uses the Art and Science Cadillac designs.

It has an LS6 V8 from the C5 Corvette Z06, it looks almost identical to the regular CTS. Which happens to look like hell.

Tell me everything you know, think, or think you know about the 2005 Cadillac CTS-V. Now.

Please. ;)

He's asking for our opinion and/or us to make up some facts/reasons it is better/worse than other cars.

That said, I think it kicks ass. Best Cadillac ever? It's so American and bad ass, who cares about reliability or gas mileage or that fit and finish crap.

If anything, the Cadillac CTS-V was GM's way of proving to the world that they can indeed build a world-class sports sedan to go up against cars like the S4, M3, and the C32/55. What the Cadillac has over the competition is indeed the backing of Corvette power, which allows for ground-shaking horsepower and torque, added to that decent fuel economy, and pretty decent reliability.

Although the CTS-V's performance is a bit wishy-washy, a lot of it comes down to the driver behind the wheel. I've seen people drive the hell out of the car (Car and Driver, Top Gear), and I've some people drive it like an old man's car (Motor Trend, Consumer Reports). A good bet is a 0-60 time in a little over 4.6 to 4.8 seconds, and top speed is good for a little over 160 MPH. It does indeed make it an impressive performer, particularly for the price.

Out the door, you could have expected to pay right around $50K for the CTS-V. Not a bad deal, but there are people who argue either way on the car. Used is a good bet, but they are pretty rare, even in domestic-dominated Michigan. Trust me, thats a good thing. It is part of the reason why the car is so cool, and every time I see one, I stare in awe as it drives by.

IMO, I'd want one in silver or white. Black is just so "normal" with the CTS-V, since everyone else does it.

The CTS as seen in The Matrix and Bad Boyz II was just a standard LY7-powered model, not a CTS-V.

It is a Cadillac. The nonclamenture is short for Catera Touring Sedan. It has a rip-roarin' V8. 400BHP.

It really doesn't mean Catera Touring Sedan. Case in point: The Catera was the Cimarron of the 90's, whereas the CTS is decidedly not the Cimarron of the 00's. Even Cadillac employees will tell you it doesn't mean Catera Touring Sedan. They'll tell you it's the Cadillac Touring Sedan before they say anything else.

As for the car itself, it's a great car, I'd own one. Beats an M3 any day of the week.

The words "Catera Touring Sedan" have not yet been edited off the car's Wiki, and with all the knowledgable people viewing that page it most certainly would have been changed by now. So, though a dumb name, Catera Touring Sedan it is.

I'm sure they will also try to tell me the DTS isn't short for DeVille Touring Sedan and the STS isn't Seville Touring Sedan. Then I'll just laugh at them until they go away. The car's quality over its predecessor has nothing to do with what the name is short for, and I really hope this doesn't go into a long drawn out arguement like it was when Blazin and me went at it because I'm not going to budge.

You'd take a CTS over a M3?

Wow. Well, good luck with the quality and reliability as the CTS-V sells here have dropped in the last 3 months, mainly due to poor reliability and customer service in the local counties.

But YSS, black is so beautiful! I'd like to have one in either Mitsu's dandelion yellow or Subie's WR Blue Mica. Two of my all time favorite colors.

Yes it does. It has more horsepower, tourque, Its more reliable, it has a v-8. Also it's just as quick to 60.

Just because something has a V8 doesnt make it good. I hate that type of thinking.

But Im sorry your wrong. Its a big wallowy car thats good for the motorway, but not as good as AMG, and the AMG is half decent on the track. On track its ranked bottom peg of its class. It might leave the likes of the M3 and S4 behind on the straights, but they can catch and pass it on the bends.

Your arguments are pointless. Neither of you have [probably] ever driven the car and probably never will. Your arguments are entirely based on biased opinion/other reviews. Thus, neither of you will ever convince the other of his/her side.

:)

if 1 man calls your horse a donkey slap him. But if 10 men call your horse a donkey, its a donkey ;)

Unless it's actually a horse. But yeah the point is right, if ten out of twelve reviews all say the M3 is better then the chances are that the M3 IS better.

 Cadillac have better reliability. Sorry, the reports may say one thing, but the shops say another, and I've seen a couple more CTS-Vs than I have a M3 in the shops.

V8? V8? By that statement, the new M3 beats the CTS-V. It's got a newer V8.

I don't understand how that kind of logic proves a point. That's like saying the Corvette will always beat the NSX-R because it has a V8 instead of a V6.

JD power has lost most of its credability to the people in the know how.

Like neanderthal has said, dealerships are giving out freebies in return of getting rated positively by their customers.

I'm not too interested in the positive dealer rankings - can't offer a free tank of gas to make a car more reliable!

It can't make the actual car more reliable but it can make people say thier car is reliable. Dealers hand out copies of the JD Power survey in some places and the survey asks questions about reliability ect, if the customer fiulls the survey out they get a free tank of petrol. I've yet to see or hear of this happening in the UK and over here I believe it would be considered illegal for a dealership to do that, I still hold the UK's JD Power survey in very high regard. But I have heared of it happening in some other countries.
