Hello again! This week we will be racing the Ginetta G4 1964. I was going to do an FF vs. FF shootout but I couldn't find two decent FF 'race cars' that had any traction. So we will be racing this sexy FR rocket instead. You can
win it by completing all 3 races in the Beginner Hall, Light Weight K Cup. That should be pretty damn easy to win.

NOTE:

-All races are held at the Las Vegas drag strip
-Please save your replay AND YOUR SETTINGS
-No gamesharking is allowed to enhance the car
-Cheating of any kind will not be tolerated
-Winner must post settings at conclusion of race, otherwise the win goes to the next fastest person who can supply repeatable settings
-Post your time here in the thread before the time limit passes (do not PM it to me)

RACE CONDITIONS/LIMITATIONS:

-None basically, except:
-No TCS allowed (not that it is going to matter much)

This tiny car is a beast. Unleash the speed!

As you can infer from the rules, it is a good idea to write down your settings and save the replay, as well as your time. I will not require you to post replays, so for those of you who don't have a maxdrive, don't worry. Unlike any other OLR event, you can bump and scrape the walls all you want. Kill some pedestrians, I don't care. BUT - if you don't post settings, or if your settings are questioned by another racer and no one can repeat your run within reasonable limits, either you will have to give away your strategy or the win will be taken away from you.

This will be a 10 point event, 1st place is awarded 10 point, 2nd nine, and so on. Anyone can race any week.

This race will conclude at noon (12pm) Friday March 9th, EST. This time limit is designed to give you a few extra hours, for I get home from work around 5 or so. That said, if a racer sends me a PM and asks for an extra day due to unforeseen circumstance, I will almost always grant it as long as it doesn't become a habit.

Speaking of PMs.... I am not a Moderator and this is not an official GTP race. I cannot handle a mass influx of PMs. So, this is why you must post your time within this thread before the time limit passes.

This car is much quicker than you might think.

Don't forget, a Ginetta was used to win the "Like The Wind" event... And with 200HP/300KG, it is a rocket.

So, with the no rules, you mean:
  1. Race-tyres are allowed?
  2. Only Sports/Normal?

I highly encourage you to slap on some R5's for this race. Does that answer your question?

Yes, it does. But it brings up another one - a Ginetta is hardly able to spin the S2s it comes with. 400HP Racecars have trouble spinning R5s... So what's the point with the Ginetta? That one could handle N1s without a problem...

Well the point is to have maximum acceleration. Gearing it for maximum acceleration means that it is usually going to over-extend the grip of the tires - meaning you want the best possible in almost every scenario.

However, you are free to play around with tire choices - and if you can get the best time out of a lower tire, then more power to you. 👍
 
i don't know if i am gonna be in this one, as i really dislike the look of the g4...yes it may sound a bit pathetic but i just don't give cars that i don't like a chance

This car has SO much mechanical grip with R5's that this week, suspension settings don't mean crap!
The only setting worth playing with is the tranny.
Working out whether it's worth using 3rd and having another gear-change eon in the run, opposed to a steeper gearing is gonna be the winning strategy.

Good time!

Yes that's what I'm noticing too - the suspension or LSD isn't making too much of a difference. The transmission and weight balance are. I had already set this car up due to previous settings and my transmission is probably one of my best transmission settings I have for any of my cars. I'm starting off in second, for the record.

I had this car previously set up for an absolute best lap at Deep Forest.

So my transmission didn't need much tuning. It's pretty damn good.

However it's nothing secret that I'm doing... transmission tuning is an art that combined with proper weight balance will get you a time like I have.

i've managed a 10.482.

tranny set to 22, hardest and lowest suspension settings for the front, softest and highest at back, with 100 ballast at the back too :)

I'm running 125 pounds at the back. I'm gonna see if by dropping a few pounds if I can shave off a few hundredths...

You better believe it! I have 1200 miles on mine, and none are from the WRS! I can't remember if I b-specced it or not though... Seriously though, it flies, but it doesn't feel like it! It's wierd, it just gains speed, but it still doesn't SEEM fast.

Well, here I go. I'll edit the time in here in a bit... :)
