Weekly Drag Series - Week 4 + Results

9.897 on my second run down the track... Nothing really special with the gearing. First run was a 10.4xx using first gear, second run was starting in second instead. Full up front, full down rear, shock settings optimized for lots of transfer to the back, none to the front. Decided to split your two differences on ballast and went 112 in the rear.

I'mma coming!

Man, why the heck did I think I wouldn't have time for this?!?!? :sly:

Oh, and I only have 233hp!!!! :P

Oooooooook. I'm done.

1/4 ET: 9.794 seconds... And man oh man Kenny, you're a punk! I got soooo close to breaking into the 9.7s I had to keep playing! So much for 15 minutes! I did take a 15 minute break or so in there, but still, that's over 45 minutes! :P

I can't say I'm not glad I did though. We'll see how that holds up to you guys until the deadline. I'm done! 👍

Jeez this is nuts.

I was offline from 4pm til right now, and inbetween that time I was basically sleeping to catch up on my z's. Well at 12:30 I decided, what the heck, why not give it one last run. I played with my LSD and lowered my weight 5 pounds. I expected musclecarlover's time to drop down a bit so I was curious if I could get mine to, as well.

Then I set a blisteringly fast time, and all excited I log onto to GTP. And to my surprise, there is another blisteringly fast time by you! And you are going to hate me... because my time is:

9.790

0-60 in 2.1 seconds, 148mph trap speed. I'm running 120 pounds in the rear.

Sweet time by the way mate... this is great that we have three people vying for the top spot!!!!! Like a drag race should be :)

AHHHHH!!!! You really ARE a punk! Now I'll have to stay up an extra half an hour tonight so I can beat you back. I'm all the way down to I think 80 pounds in the rear! I did my first 9.804 with 90, and was experimenting for the next half an hour with amounts down to even 75. I think I'll go back up a bit... :P

I wanna win!

It was really frustrating getting one ~9.810 after, OVER and OVER and OVER. I knew that if I kept it up I'd get at least ONE that dipped into the 9.7s. And that was it. But then you beat me. Argh! 👍

I know how that is. Last night I kept getting 9.831 over and over, with little variance (by this time I have my shifting down pat). And then my last run, as soon as I jumped off the line, within the first second I knew this was my fastest launch. So it unexpectedly decided to go faster, without any real change.

Squeezing in with a 9.818... :ouch: SO CLOSE!!! Let's have some more like this one, eh??:D

Cheers,
Jetboy

Great improvement Corey.

Well, I obviously didn't manage to squeeze in that last session before I left. Had some other things going on that caused me to get a reduced amount of sleep as it was... :grr:

Why stiff on the rear springs Kenny?

Funny on the front camber setting trying to reduce friction or something...

I think I was full soft on the springs all around, was going to go full stiff up front, but never got around to it and I knew it wouldn't make much of any difference. I KNOW that I could've beat you Kenny if you were running that much weight though... My run was at either 80 or 90 ballast, can't remember at the moment.

Dampers were 10/1 Bound, 1/10 Rebound. Full high in front, full low in rear, sways 1/1, 0 toe, 0 camber, yup.

My gearing was a custom mix-up of my style of tranny trick that I've been using since GT2 to lengthen the lower gears and get a real close ratio box while still being able to use the lower gears, somewhat.

My runs were NOT running nitrous full time. I'd have to get on it at JUST the right time, for the fastest launch, and without doing a burnout. So that alone tells me I could go quicker if I just added a bit of weight... :)

Good stuff!

My suspension is very close to how I set up the car to kick ass on the road courses, too... except for the camber and road height.

Try adding some weight for the hell of it and see what you get :)

110 is the perfect weight for my current suspension and 2nd gear settings... Good enough for a 9.739 on the third try after settling on a weight setting. Tried down to 105, didn't hook on nitrous, tried 110, did one run, then the above run, tried 108, no hook, tried 109, no hook, did 110 a few more times. I had runs ranging up to .818, but others back in the .7s, and one at .740. Something better than the 9.739 is probably possible, but why spend the time on it. :)

And, I wasn't going to go back and see how I'd do with more weight, but you asked for it! Coolness.

Edit: Shifting at about 7450-7500 for 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th somewhere between 7400 and 7500, and 4th to 5th somewhere between 7250 and 7400.

Actual ratios are:
2nd:2.673
1.930
1.472
1.178
Final 2.500.

Numbers started out as auto 7 with a higher final drive, then tweaked to work well with a 2.5 final on the strip.

Don't forget the 233hp and 1260 miles...

Very nice! Makes me wonder if a 9.6 is possible.

Possibly. But you'll be hard pressed to get there, definitely would take a LOT of time tinkering with the gearing. And finding out the PERFECT spot to shift for each gear.
