I would like to know if there is any interest on a Scenery competition, for Scenery pictures.
Cars could be allowed
Rules would be similar to others competitions.
Three «Photoshop» (or other image editing program) Rules are allowed: PMC, 2.0, Free.
I’m thinking of (for example): week 1 winner choose the theme for week 3, and week 2 winner chooses the theme for week 4. – For not having brakes.

Is there anything that I missed that would be nice to be added?

Will this be a boring competition?

Let me know what’s in your minds about this competition (good or bad).

I'm gonna say no. In theory it's a great idea but I don't think it would be too popular.

I think it would be good, I'm up for it! I'm not sure how popular it would be in the long run but it seems like a cool idea. I'd been thinking of something like this myself for a while now!

I'm gonna have to say no, if any should come it should be the Artistic Competition imo. There have been a ton of scenery shots in the past artistic comps.

It could be a great idea but I'm not really sure we could have as many good & different pictures as the other competitions. You said cars (& bikes?) would be allowed so have you got some themes exemples?

It's a cool idea, but I voted no and I think scenery is better left as an occasional theme for the existing comps.

As a stand-alone comp I suspect people may lose interest after a few weeks and all the obvious shots are done. But it could have potential as a short series if enough thought is put into structuring it. What do you have in mind as far as themes & rules go?

I totally thought of this idea a month ago and said most people probably wouldn't be THAT interested. :nervous: (voted yes :))

Yep. But it's always a good theme idea in any of the existing comps.

I have to say No. Theres to many competition already and like its not a good idea to do a scenery photo competition as most other competition could apply this as a theme. You may have to think of other things if you really want to make a good comp....

I really like scenery shots, but like said above it would probably not hold interest for longm as it would get somewhat repetitive after a while.

However I'd enter if it was up. :)

As GR21 stated, Artistic comp should really be back, that would be a much wider comp with room for scenery shots too. 👍

Me too, I'd be cool at start, and too repetitive week by week. I love the theme, but I also think there are a lot of comps now to open one more. I guess time is not infinite to work on a few of different competitions actually.

Well, seeing that the majority answered NO, I’m saving this idea in the safes of time.

I saw that some people spoke about an artistic competition. I’ve search the forums and saw that it stopped at week 10…and the reason was that was losing interest, but I think it had a really good interest….
In the same results I also came to face another competition that has been closed: creative competition.

I'm thinking of maybe making a mixture of them and with new rules but:
actually (if I don’t mistake) there are 9 competitions running. 2 are dying, and one suddenly stopped. That gives a total of 6 competitions. The Photomode Tournament is coming, so that will make a total of 7 competitions. Thinking better, this doesn’t seem to be the best time to lunch a competition. Maybe after the Phtomode Tournament, and if I have all very meticulous thinking, maybe I’ll lunch a interest thread about a Artistic/Creative Competition, but first, I have to study both very well and understand their structure. Maybe there it would have space for some Scenery shots.

Thank you for the opinions, this reveled more than it meets the eye.
👍

Good call, LdS. 👍

Better wait for a while and think it thoroughly (sp?).

Scenery has a way of creating a feeling of location and prespective. Precisely relevant to CCCL!
Take CCCL at El Cap...If a shot is zoomed up so much that the location is unknown then what's the point of CCCL in the first place.??!

out of the box, i love it i voted yes, but after readin some posts I still agree to this idea, but i don't think it should be as frequent. maybe a 2 week gap instead of 1.

Unfortunately, the voters don't vote that way, or most of them anyway. I keep having to remind myself that there is a lot of youth in the voting. Most of the voters just see the car, and not the ART in those competitions. Like I stated in another thread, technically a good shot has a certain personality, a good background, a good foreground, good eye-movement, and good lighting. But most voters probably don't take all of that into consideration. Many times my decision btwn 2 entries came down to the background and eye-movement.

old thread i know, but, whatever:

id like to see this one happen, but, not as a long term comp like pmc and cccl (the only comps confirmed to still be running. slip has my theme for apmc/2.0 and TW has the next drift comp theme so well see about those later).

my reason for a short term being that, while scenery is interesting to take, i dont think itd hold my attention for very long. though, ive seen some interesting potental shots.

I agree, Plus it may start improving everyone's shots on all the competitions, when they start looking more for the backgrounds. I do a lap before my 'photo run' lap, just paying attention to where the sun is, whats in the backgrounds, and which parts on the track I want a shot on.

Just goes to show how much effort is required to get the right shot. Personally I find it really difficult to choose only 1 shot for a comp. In real photo contests you can submit 10 or 20 - the judges select one or discard the lot. Maybe submitting only 1 shot is turn-off for many ppl. I dono.

Hmm, I never thought of that either, maybe you can enter say 2-3 shots, but they would have to in the same post, to control clutter.

BTW- The Evil 'No' just got another vote.

Guys, guys. I know I am the one who bring this interest thread about this maybe doing this competition, but, after I saw the comments (back in august) I really think that Scenery, work better has themes to other competitions, rather than a standalone competition.
Here, take a look at this: 2.0 Competition: Theme: Scenery Shots, chosen by me. It got 13 Entries.

13 Entries is enough, But I noticed about half of those were not too good. I really think it should be revived, just to see, if it dies, oh well.

So what if it ends after week #10 don't ppl get bored of the same old thing by week #150 - at least it's 10 weeks of fun for the ppl who want to participate.

Should GT series have just 3 races to chose from it's just boring - and the whole WEEKLY thing is a turn off anyway. Just have them on and off - draw a theme from a hat - it's just 4 FUN! A Sandbox, if you will.

Why do you make the assumption that everyone is bored of the current competitions? They don't just get "old" as you think because they are different every week. If people were getting bored with them then they wouldn't have lasted so long.

That leads me to ask, are you bored of the competitions?

I for one would love to see this resurrected! Landscapes are my forte. Personally I'd never get bored with it. I think that less creative people will get bored after a few weeks. There's always a new shot to found if you look hard enough

I forgot to add that this is one of the comps that I do think is interesting enough to catch on. It is a great idea in my opinion.
