It's pretty close poll. I still say scenery relates to location hence, relevant in CCCL in any case!

A good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow.

I like to think of capturing the action and thrill of the race, rather than a specific car. And there are times when you get something magical with no Edit other than bright/contrast.

But hey what do I know - I get paid up to $1,000/day on a real shoot.

Why do you make the assumption that everyone is bored of the current competitions? They don't just get "old" as you think because they are different every week. If people were getting bored with them then they wouldn't have lasted so long.

That leads me to ask, are you bored of the competitions?

I'm not assuming that at all. I think the current comps are great, and yes if they can run for 2 years ++ then there is something going right in those comps.
I've been a member for 3 maybe 4 years but only got involved with PM comps recently and they are the only reason I enjoy GT-Planet.
But not all comps appeal to everyone - and from what I can tell interest in PMC has fallen recently - apparently too few entrants.

Some ppl have the impression that new comps will decrease entries in ongoing proven comps. And they feel obligated to enter all of them. You enter the ones you feel comfortable with, that's all.

I say interest is dwindling for a few reasons.

1. Less professional/experienced members have zero chance.There isn't even third place in these comps. Imagine if GT4 had first place only. I doubt anyone would make 50% of the game by the time GT6 is out. Perhaps beginner/intermediate/senior class entries would yield more interest in general.
2. Time frames. A lot of ppl just don't have time to buy a car, tune, race, record, shoot, upload to PC, edit, make the painful effort of choosing only one pic, upload to ImageShack ... all for a 1 chance out of a field of 10 entries.
3. I think a lot of members find the whole thing complicated and intimidating, Hey, loose 2 or 3 times and you loose interest. And 2 or 3 comps is a of of work.

Well that's how I see it as a nooobee. Little chance of ever winning anyway, and NOT having much fun so far.

id like to see this one happen, but, not as a long term comp like pmc and cccl (the only comps confirmed to still be running. slip has my theme for apmc/2.0 and TW has the next drift comp theme so well see about those later).

my reason for a short term being that, while scenery is interesting to take, i dont think itd hold my attention for very long. though, ive seen some interesting potental shots.

I think it would be good, I'm up for it! I'm not sure how popular it would be in the long run but it seems like a cool idea. I'd been thinking of something like this myself for a while now!

Immature??, how is it being immature trying to see if there is enough interest to begin some more competitions?? Is it also immature, to reply to those few with objections, adressing those objections??

Personally I don't care if I win, or who wins, I just like seeing the creativity of those who compete. And to answer your question, no I wouldn't be happy with a comp with 2 entries, It would be an utter failure.

No I do not tend to listen to negative, kids who think they own the forum, and think what they say is golden. Do you realize the majority of the complaints are coming from those under the age of 18. Most mature people who are un-interested in the competitions, just vote no and move on, or leave a comment explaining why they think it would not work.

Also if you read the comments in this poll, and the poll I started, you would see that there is a little bit of interest in some more competitions, but mostly people with negative comments on why it wouldn't work.

And you being "Pissed" about two people trying to get more creative competitions on this site, is an example of your own immaturity. I gotta give you a little credit though, at least you addressed this in Public, rather than whining in a PM, like other kids have.

Also the reason I would like to see more competitions, is not out of boredom, and is most definately not because the comps aren't going my way. But because I think this Forum has a lot of talented people, who come up with excellent images; and this Forum should be able to support more Competitions than it currently has!

Any more questions for me? I will gladly address them.

I agree, I think I would perfer competitions that are more than just GT4 based, but also based on your eye for detail, and abilities with PS (or other editing programs). Unfortunatly that knocks out, many younger entrants, who are not nearly as experienced with PS, or Computers in general.

And that comp is still going with sufficient entries!

Question: I have soooo much trouble choosing only 1 image for any given comp. In true photo comps photographers may submit 20 or so. For the purpose of PMC that wouldn't be feasible, how do you feel about say, 3 submissions for a particular comp? I dono.

The problem choosing is that, not everyone has the same tastes in what is a good image. Some focus on just the car, some focus on motion blur, others focus on the scenery. Entering 3 shots, you can have distinct style changes throughout the shots, thus appealing to more people. Would stop the- I like this shot's motion blur best, but I like this shot's refection better, and I like this shot's scenery, which should I post as my entry... -moments.

It's hard to figure out what the voters want, I have had what I thought was the best shot (of what I took) get no votes, and then I ponder about one of my other shots that follows the style the voters voted for, and wonder should I have entered that shot instead.

Plus you get to see 3 great shot from ppl here instead of just the one. The key here is like Redhawk said, to have fun with these comps.

I hope LdS runs with this one though.

I do too, but don't you ever wonder?? I normally narrow it down to 3-4 shots quite easily, then from there it gets tough... But in the end I still like seeing what everyone else can do.

At this point the polls show a majority for having this comp in one form or another. As for the format and how many shots to submit ( 1~3 optional ) is, I suppose up to whoever hosts it, or starts it.

ES, in fact photographers cannot select one shot for a client - they submit hunderds for a shoot and the client/agent does the selecting - thank god! It's a numbers game and as GP1 pointed out ppl have different tastes.

But for practical purposes here it really doesn't matter. I just wonder if heretofore GT-pt members would be more likely to participate in a comp that offers more possibilities and odds of at least placing second or third.

Also, this competition only works in Free Photoshop rules or 2.0, and it takes a little more time to do an entry with those rules.

But has I said, If everyone wants to run/host this competition, go ahead, you are free to, I will not run/host it. I can enter sometimes, but I don’t have the time or the interest in running it.

Okay, maybe this would be a good 'warm-up' to running comps, and I don't expect this one, to last that long either, but you never know. At least I'll get some practice running one, and probably get more ideas through the process of running a comp.

I have some more job hunting to do today, after that I will throw together some Banners (new photo shoot) and rules, most likely I will go with the already in place, [2.0] Rule Set, just to lessen the amount of time it takes to do an entry. Since it is a [2.0] only one entry would be allowed, for now...
And I'll probably start the comp Tomorrow Afternoon.

Well thank you LdS - I know you are BZ and I know all of this is a SIDELINE to our lives. Actually a nice alternative to illegal drugs - though I may be tempted, it is tantamount to DEATH in CHINA, so in many ways GT4 is a GOD-send.

Alright, since I am merely borrowing your brain-child, We will go with your advice, 'Free-Edit Rule Set', and a Two-week-ish Deadline, and we will do the 1st week trial run, and see if it needs tweaking for week 2, or if it even fills a good sized poll. But we seemed to have some interest in this one; again, great idea LdS.

Never, The AI lines do not always make for the best shots, I usually try to drive outta the shade for a shot. I also take a scenery-lap to check-out the backgrounds and where the light is located. That helps me know where on the track I need to be, to get the better shot. B-Spec BoB just won't listen very well...lol
