Should Pre-Season Test #3 include a race? If so, what should the distance for it be?

Deadline: Sunday, September 2nd @ 8:00 pm EDT (24:00 GMT)​

Last week, we tested near the byway. This week, we're testing on the highway.;)

Special Stage Route 5 is where the second Test Session takes place. The combination of high speed straights along with many changes in heights in the turns make this course a challenge to complete the laps in the fastest time possible. But even the slightest mistake could have you and your car right up against the walls. And remember kids, rubbernecking is not an option. :D​

Power: 261 HP (-11), Weight: 1058 kg (-8), Top Speed: 260 km/h (0), Tires: RH/RH only​

Rules and Regulations​

All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by the GTP Clio Cup officials. Any and all questions should be directed to the GTP Clio Cup officials (CAMikaze or RACECAR) and they will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manner.​

All drivers must run at the specified Tires, Top Speed, Weight and Horsepower settings for each round.​

Penalties for Late Time Submission will be as such.
If the driver submits times Private Messaged through GTP to CAMikaze and/or RACECAR before the deadline as time-stamped by GTP, no penalty will be given. For the upcoming season, a driver has up to 2 hours after deadline to send in their time, but a penalty will be enforced equal to the lateness of the submission, 1 second for every minute after the deadline up to 2 hours past the deadline. Anything after 2 hours will not be accepted and will post a DNQ/DNS.​

All Other Standard Online Racing Rules apply.​
  • No Cheating, Hybrids, or any funny stuff like that. Run the car according to the Specifications please.
  • Try and keep two wheels on the road at all times. No shortcuts.
  • No wall-riding. It slows you down.

  • Arcade Mode >>> Time Trial >>> City Courses >>> Special Stage Route 5 >>> Forward >>> Select Car
  • TCS and/or ACS is allowed IF DESIRED, but NOT mandatory..

Please make sure you send your Times formatted this way. It'll make it easier, and we'll be good.;)​

A couple more notes before we get things going here.
  • The map you see up above is incorrect in where the Forward direction is going. Usually it's indicated by where the Red flag is pointed, but it's the blue flag that is the indicator in this image. I already sent a message to AMG. about this and he told me he'll have it corrected as soon as possible. :) EDIT: Fixed.:sly:👍
  • You are also allowed to discuss your Lap Time and Splits in the thread as well. Just be sure you PM your final time with splits to myself and RACECAR before the deadline.
  • I also created a poll question for this thread having to deal with if the Third and final test session should include a pre-season race and what the distance for it should be. For a more honest vote, we wish that only the registered GTP Clio Cup drivers take part in this poll. Also, there is a very limited time for this vote because it's scheduled to close before the deadline to have the times sent in. So let me know what you want to do before the time to vote for it runs out, OK?;)👍

@ RACECAR: I was using paper and pencil for compiling the leaderboard for the last Test Session as I don't have a spreadsheet program on my PC that I know of.:embarrassed: I was curious as to what you're gonna use for comkpiling the results of this round.:)

Improved my lap time by just a whisker

T1 - 33'403

T2 - 57'893

Lap Time - 1'27.042

I am losing time at the sharpish left hander before T1 ( the one that is after the tunnel and the next right - 3L on the map ). Anyone have any good tips for this one?

Well after a few sessions here are my lap times (session 1 & 2 took about 10-15 laps each while session 3 took about 20 laps. Its another endurance race for me :D)

Just managed to squeeze into the 1.27s... my first splits:

I hate the right-left-right just before the final straight. I am having a hard time getting it right...

Same here, i always screwed up at that second last corner. I could get a better time that this! I was like 0.5 secs ahead by the second sector and when i hit thar 🤬 wall, i lost a second! 🤬 you stupid wall!!!!!

I did like 50+ LAPS just to get that time. I had like more chances to improve had i didn't hit that stupid wall!!!! :grumpy: all this effort makes me so tired i can't even typed properly.... :guilty:

The difference between my best splits and my best lap is about 0.5 sec!! I am just glad that this is not a race, or I would have killed someone today:crazy:

Pretty much so. I've sort of been going over the options the last couple of weeks since I put the poll question in the Signup thread about what the race format should be. Unfortunately, I let a cat out of the bag as to what the distances for the proposed race formats were.:embarrassed: IN case anyone is wondering, the 50 mile distance is similar to the total distance of the races in each round of the real-life Clio Cup series. It was only after I posted the question that I started wondering if the people who wanted to take part in this series if they wanted to race a longer distance for each round.

When the thread for the Final Test Sesion goes up, I'll put a poll question up that will as if we should keep the 50 mile distance, or should we go for a longer distance of 100 km(62 Miles)?

As for this round of testing, I'll give it a go on Sunday to see if I can improve on my current times if possible.

20 laps only this week. I love the track, and can see a 1:26.high for me, but not better.

What makes you say that Venari? Care to share with us the inside details? Maybe when I do my practices this afternoon, I'll watch how I did in the same manner to see if I can get what you're meaning. :sly:

No I don't believe so and that T1 time needs to get better as well as my T2. Apparently I am making up massive amounts of time after T2 at the chicane at the end and the final corner looking at others splits and total times so that's a plus. Now to figure out the rest of the track.
