Hot-Lap Practice & 12 Lap Race
Deadline: Monday, September 10th @ 8:00 pm EDT (24:00 GMT)

One more Test Round to go until the season begins. For that, we're off to California Wine Country!:D
Remember to refrain from consuming any wine before racing.:sly:

In the past, Infineon (formerly Sears Point) has hosted races scantioned by such organizations like NASCAR, the American LeMans Series, the AMA and the NHRA. The twists and turns on this course will be a test to see how the drivers will be able to go quicker as they go around the turns.
In addition to the testing, there's also going to be a Race for this course so that you'll be able to get used to racing with the other AI controlled cars during the Season.;)👍

All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by the GTP Clio Cup officials. Any and all questions should be directed to the GTP Clio Cup officials(CAMikaze or RACECAR) and they will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manner.

All drivers must run at the specified Tires, Top Speed, Weight and Horsepower settings for each round.

All Other Standard Online Racing Rules apply.
  • No Cheating, Hybrids, or any funny stuff like that. Run the car according to the Specifications please.
  • Try and keep two wheels on the road at all times. No shortcuts.
  • No wall-riding. It slows you down.
  • TCS and/or ACS is allowed IF DESIRED, but NOT mandatory..

Time Sending Format

Please make sure you send your Times formatted this way. It'll make it easier, and we'll be good.;)
Code:

Total Time: [The time it took for you to complete the race]
Best Lap: [Your fastest race lap here]
A couple more notes before we get things going here.
  • Some Ground Rules: There's a good deal of runoff space around Turns 7 and 7a and Turns 8 and 8a. If you get forced off at the area around Turn 7 or 7a, you can use the side track to get back on course. But you must be back on there before you get to the end of where the side track meets back up with the track. If you get forced off at Turn 8a(where the side track there is used for motorcycle racing), you have to be back on the track by where the side track there meets up with the main track. Otherwise in either case, you should consider yourself to be off the course.
  • Again in this thread, you are also allowed to discuss your Practice Lap Time and Splits as well as your Race Times and Best Laps. Just be sure you PM your final times with splits to myself(CAMikaze) and RACECAR before the deadline.
  • Again, I have created a poll question for this Test Round. This time, it's wether we should keep the race distance for the rounds at 50 miles or have it increased to 100 kilometers(62 miles). Again we sincerely ask that only the registered GTP Clio Cup drivers take part in the poll. Make your choice soon, OK?;)👍
Good Luck, and Good Racing to all of you!:sly:👍

The final round of testing saw 12 drivers bring their cars to Infineon Raceway to give them one final shakedown before the start of the inagural season. As usual the times set in testing were very close for nearly all of the drivers with Fantomas40 of Hungary come out on top by .059 over fellow countryman Carlito. Superhero Wally came through for the US to take the final spot in the top 3 by .006 over what some are considering the favorite for the series in England's SammiTogueGirl.

In the pre-season race that followed, it was a reversal of roles as Carlito took the win by more than a wheel length from Fantomas40 despite his setting the fastest lap of the race. And in another photo finish, nige of Great Britain took the last podium spot from Superhero Wally avenging SammiTogueGirl's near-defeat in the test session. Only CardcaptorYoshi was unable to make the call for the race as he was suffering from some mechanical problems that developed at the end of testing earlier in the day. The chat around the pits and all over the grounds following the race has everyone excited for the upcoming season and what could make for plenty more close racing action.

The racers now move on to Mid-Field Raceway for the long awaited opening round of the series. This time, it will be qualifying followed by two races for each round. What will happen next? Who will take home the honors and bragging rights? Only time and racing will tell.

Quick question - For the race option does the top speed have to be kept at 260 km or can we alter that?

Cheers,

nige

I did a few laps around the circuit, and its awesome! This is a great combo... I could be at it for some time... Here are the first splits for a practice run:

Car # 43
T1 20.715
T2 1'02.983
Final 1'36.461

Will probably do a practice race later today, and may be shave a couple of seconds from my time :P

The Top Speed setting is to be at 260 km/h(0). I hope I cleared it up for you.:)

As for me, I had a chance to do some testing laps and the race as wll earlier today. Here's how I did...
Testing:
21.179 - 1'04.584 - 1'38.469

Race:
Total Time - 20'09.136
Best Lap - 1'38.685
I'll be updating the Timesheets accordingly.

I've got one thing to say..........

Infineon Raceway is a Damn F'king TRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:grumpy:  :banghead: :ouch: 👎 🤬

I can't even do ONE SINGLE CLEAN LAP!!!

Well i'm not going to even race in this track if i can't keep my car out of the grass. The car always bottom out and understeer. I can't make this car go any faster than it is! Forget it, i'm just not good enough is it?

Here is my time: (probably going to be last anyways....)

T1: 20.788
T2: 1'03.500
Total: 1'38.084

Infineon Raceway is a difficult track, that takes a while to learn properly. It's highly technical as far as lines and speeds are concerned, and the learning curve is very steep if you want to be fast.

Let me guess? You are having troubles with turns 2, 3a, 8a & 10! Especially turns 3a and 8a!

Those two corners suck you in too fast, because the entries are very easy to go into fast, but the exits are off camber and have a crest in them. A very bad combination if you are either going to fast, or you are on the wrong line.

3a is made easier by turning sharper into 3 (using the up-hill nature to give extra grip), and maintaining the corner for a beat longer, therefor straightening out the exit to 3a. DO NOT TOUCH THE RIGHT-HAND CURBING!!!

8a is easy to take at full throttle, but the front washes out on the exit, so just a hint of a lift (of the throttle) as you exit the left of 8 and a slightly later turn-in to 8a sorts out that problem.

I haven't had time to do ANY racing yet this week :guilty:, but I am going to be doing so this afternoon.👍
Got this, GTPLMS and my historic races to do, gonna have a sore butt from all the seat-time I need to put in over the next few days! ;)

Hope this advice helps?
Neil

If you can all turn down the huge red text in your individual posts or quotes, that would be nice. Stealth browsing at work isn't exactly subtle when the phrase 'Damn F'king' appear in huge red text.

That out of the way, I shall enjoy this trial. :D

Well thanks for the advice. I think i got frustration get the best of me. I mean, 🤬 the car gives a lot of problem on those corners. If i could adjust the suspension it would have been a totally different story. Well i guess i just have to try harder and maybe do those corners correctly like what you said. Maybe i could even shave off a few seconds or so.....

Hey CAMikaze,

I just checked out your series and it looks great 👍

I was wondering if you would consider substituting a few of the planned courses in your schedule for city courses such as Costa di Amalfi, Cote d'Azur (Monaco) or perhaps even the challenging Citta di Aria?

Might be cool to see the mighty Clio winding its way through those beautiful but challenging streets. Not a lot of passing opportunities either.

Just a thought .......... :)

Well ERacer, if you have another look at this post you'll see that I have Round 3 scheduled for the Cote d'Azur in October. Also, why not sign up? After all you said you had a look through at what this series is about.;)

Before I forget, I had another run through the race earlier this evening and posted a time of 20'01.367 with a 1'38.556 best lap.:sly:

Time submitted to CAMikaze.
Ah, thanks Carlito. :D

After doing some more laps, i finally got better at this circuit. But now i hate Infineon Raceway even more! My race was very poor and i can't help but hate this stupid mother 🤬 track more than any other GT4 circuits ever!!!!!!

I won't even race here ever again,
EVER!!!

(but because of this Clio Cup, i have to..... :()

Here are my new times:
T1: 20.553
T2: 1'02.250
Total: 1'37.093

Race:
Best Lap: 1'37.744
Total: 20'29.975

Well i have a few questions. Did any of you did a pit stop in this race? Secondly, does it matter if you finish 1st or 2nd and so on? (i finished second :ouch: I lost 1st place at the last lap because my tire totally lost grip! I can't even turn this 🤬 car!!!!)

Deep breath mnm.:)

Well, here are my times.

Cheers for the text reduction guys. :) Much appreciated for all us lazy layabout workshy surfers. :)

Times Updated. And FYI, I ran a 21.293, 1'04.303/1'37.875 on Thursday night.:)👍

Now I have some questions to ask.
Well, here are my times.

Sammi, did you use the RH/RH setup for the race? Either that, or you made a typo in the Fastest Lap time.
t1:20.229
t2:1.01.999
lap:1.34.817
race:19.25.618

ai:10
Pretty good time Fantomas40.:D:tup: That has me wondering what the rest of you have set your AI's to for your submitted fastest race times. For me, I did it at +7.

@ mnm_bmx: In answer to your question, it basically doesn't matter how you finished in the race on your PS2. You're only attempting to complete the race in the fastest time possible. Also, I can understand how you're feeling. I've been pretty much a back-marker in some of the other GTPlanet series that I've competed in. But the effort I've been putting into it has paid off for me with a couple of class wins in the current GTPlanet LeMans series. I'm sure it'll do the same for you in due course with a good deal of practice buddy. ;)👍

Wussies!:D

AI set to +10 - ALWAYS!
