READ:You can disable them by going Start > Run. Type in services.msc. Scroll down and find Messenger. Right click and hit Stop. You will now not recieve any of these popups. - Thanks goes to Shannon for finding and reposting this

People of GTP, I have just reversed the rotation of the universe; changed gravity; NO, but I have faught back against Microsoft!

If you are getting these pop ups, read, please.

I have been getting them, sometimes I don't, other times I get them all lined up after eachother. So while driving my RX-8 around Nurburgring in Racer, they kept poping up, causing me to wreck. I was getting aggravated, pissed off if you will.

In the past, I have just done a control-alt-delete, then going to the process, and seeing what the hell was this bacteria causing these pop-up infections. I located it alright, but when I tried to end the task, it said that it was a crucial process and all that BS.

Tonight, I faught back. I had had enough of this malarky.

So I go to the process, and find that it is this CSRSS.exe program. I delete 1(sends it to the recycle bin), and try the other. It's a crucial crapper. So what better to do then to move it, rename it, and zip it up.

I thought I had won the war. No pop-ups for several minutes. Then, dum dum dum, pop-up. The saga continues.

Meanwhile Doug is telling me that my computer is gonna explode. At this point, I don't care. I continue my mad revolt against what is the Microsoft monopoly.

So I get 2 more pop-ups. It says that it's the CSRSS.exe, again. Impossible! Till I realized that I merely move it to the recycle bin. So I rename it, and leave it on the desktop for a rainy day in hell.

And you know what? As of writing this, no more pop ups during the previous bit of time after I renamed what was the scum known as CSRSS.exe.

I will keep you posted as to the status of pop-ups.

discliamer-if you follow my steps and your computer becomes a casualty in this pop-up war, it isn't my fault. Though, if this works without a problem, this is copywrited by me, Ryan, MazKid-Killer of pop-ups. If it doesn't, I had no part of it.

Thankyou, and hopefully this can help you.

MazKid-still Windows message pop-up free. Pop-up free is the way to be!:)

He got rid of the popups and, in the process, destroyed the mechanism behind his clock. Or the "{" key. Or the memory for button F4 (thanks, milefile). Or the "run" icon in "Start." Or the functionality of "Empty Recycle Bin."

He screwed up SOMETHING.

The only thing I can think of that might be a casualty of this is any alerts. I'm not sure if they are related, but they possibly could. It appears to me that the windows warning windows(say that fast) look the same as these messenger pop-ups. Still, I'd rather rid of the pop-ups, and not get the warnings. But it could and might be that the message things are separate, and therefore I, my friends, have beaten Microsoft.

And as I write this, I am still pop-up free.

So far I have observed 0 side effects of doing this.

The error messages could be sacrificed, I haven't tested it. I will release that info as soon as I observe a time where a error should have come up.

Pop-up blockers are useless against these types of pop-ups. They go through windows, not just on the net. They are hard coded in basically.

Well folks, just got another one. Says it's the CSRSS.exe. I'm going to go check it out and see if it's still there or what the hell's going on.

You mean those Messenger popups?

You can disable them by going Start > Run. Type in services.msc. Scroll down and disable messenger. Good-bye messenger popups. There are multiple threads on this.

I was just going to post that. Heh.

They are these Windows Message pop-ups. They apear ontop of everything you have up on your computer.

Really? Aww, silly me, I'm so dumb. Well hope those CSRSS.exe files I deleted don't come back to bite me.

Thanks a ton Shannon, I will post this in the first post.

I hope you know that what I posted stops Messenger pop-ups, not illegal operations.

I know. Just so happens silly me got aheadf of myself and deleted the files before you posted that.

I don't think it matters, because even after I deleted those files(what I could delete)(before you posted) I still got a pop-up.

Ohh well. You have cirtainly shown me the way and I thank you for posting this for everyone to see.

Well more people will see it here in the rumble strip.

So? All the people I know of(besides you) have posted this in the computers forum. I think that if anyone wants to know this they will look in the computers forum. Seems logical to me.

okay i read all the posts and i still don't understand quite what these pop-ups are speciffically (sp) are you talking about all pop ups on the internet or what?

These pop-ups are though Windows XP. They are spam, and can say everything from how to block them by buying a program for $30 to porn links. They go ontop of everything. They become really annoying.
