(to be clear, I wasn't complaining about a lack of tuning, just that there's not much purpose to get out there and run laps ahead of time without it)

The 15.9 was me but yeah csl the spec thing is cool bc it gives people the chance to show their real talent
Yes and no.

Some drivers do better with oversteer, others understeer, anytime you run a spec series without tuning, you will have cars that are "perfect" for one driver, and "not perfect" for another.

I personally think that any good driver can adapt they're driving to any type of situations, in this case "understeer" and race outside of they're confort zones.
So to me No tune spec racing is the best way to ensure a totally equal racing Field, and same oportunity for everyone.

Disclaimer 2: Again, not complaining about the lack of tuning. (I just won't ignore people claiming the only way to test skill is to remove tuning from racing)

I think any good racer wants their car set up to their liking. (whether they can adapt or not)

I also believe tuning is a fundamental part of real life racing. Including GT500's.

I will also reiterate my original post: (since it seems people are anxious to let me know tuning prohibited is better)
There is no point for me to practice before the day before the race without tuning. Driving a pre-tuned car around a track isn't particularly hard or time taking for me.

Doesn't matter what anyone thinks of tuning, I still won't need to practice until the day before the race, and it's not up for discussion.

I follow you. Totally understand all opinions and believe that spec racing is more competitive. See u guys out there

17.0 on lap 20. (wasnt in a groove yet while I had good tread, pb was 16.6)
Wow on that tire wear, guess it'll be 1-stoppers the whole way.

Fast drivers will be fast regardless of whether there is tuning or not.

I like to think I can tune a car and get it to where I like the handling. But I'm not fast, and almost always end up having similar gaps behind the fast drivers. On the GT-R, there are a few things I'd love to do to the car to make it suit me better, but I'd really only gain a tenth or two from it.

I'm pretty much neutral on the tuning vs. no tuning thing (if it's even a thing; I don't think it is), I don't care either way and would still race. I just think the "skill" argument is silly.

About Stock Racing No Tuning, i dont think that in the real world their are many if not any Racing Series that dont involve tuning, but these cars have hundred of hours testing/tuning, something not everyone understands equally or has the time to tune their car, i agree that these cars understeer, but these cars are Endurance Cars designed to Understeer or should i say not Oversteer to protect tyre wear an to Driver Style. Now i have never drive a gt3 or gt500 but i think PD designed these knowing that to drive them correct that applying correct amount of steering etc basically endurance driving is good but does driving these too hard really have an effect on tyre wear compared to normal endurance driving?

Looking forward to this as i want to focus on being consistant in a real race enviroment, ive raced alot before on another website heavy damage no abs in gt5, but now i want to try abs racing, i do time trials an if i get used to feelings of pressure when racing then this can help maybe in time trials with abs :)

Is the race this weekend 25 laps or 39? Preseason and in-season races show same distance but different lap counts.

Yeah, still have to fix those up. Super busy today though, I'll have to do it later tonight, all race distances will be changing.

Merry Christmas guys!

A little PSA video on how we do rolling starts for you guys to see!

And people that are newer, or need to brush up on their racing skills, please watch the iRacing racecraft guide videos!

Starting with chapter 7 here:

So, the pre-season race this weekend at Apricot... Are we qualifying for that @Wardez ?

Yes, qualifying's open, we're using the same qualifying method as for the regular season, live-week long official observed sole qualifier runs, LWLOOSQR's to make it easier.

I'm wanting to qualify soon as well.. what does LWLOOSQR's mean? I get it hahaha

Will there be any officials available today?

So there is no passing before the first corner?

Where'd you get that from? The rolling start video?

No, it's not like that, it's only to say that during formation laps, you shouldn't pass drivers. After the formation lap's passed and the pole leader starts the race and you cross the start/finish, you can pass all you want (as long as it's clean and smart ;) )

Got a room up guys.. 1472-6681-3158-0097-7861

Hoping to practise/qualify so if any stewards are available... :)

I'm 50/50 on getting qualified for race and making it this weekend. Holidays have tied me up and haven't gotten time to practice or qualify. Not sure I will. :/

Next week things be much more normal.
