Hope she's ok dg.

I race on a quarter mile asphalt oval. Had a great night. Qualified 3rd, won the dash, heat, & main.

For some reason the edit button doesn't work for me. I drive an olds cutlass like 70's something in a class called Thunder cars ha. Basically camaro's & metric cars built into racecars. Fastest quartermile in the world. Wvso.com

Make the other races shorter too, the evo and the elise have almost the same pp and it's illogical that you set more laps in the same track (Spa) that we were supposed to run

Well, about the race, I wasn't even planning to be there, because penalties in this track are very strange,
In the place highlihted in green, if you brake a bit late, you obviously will go wide and you'll have to go slower, and the game will cancel your lap time / charge you with X penalty seconds
in the places highlighted in red, you can cut the curve, but if you go a bit wide to the kerb, the game will cancel your lap time / charge you with X penalty seconds
]

i know i am a realative newcomer, but it's called spec raceing, the E standing for endurence from my understanding, the more laps the better, the more realalistic. and this isn't going to sound too good, but i don't mean malicious intent, but if you find you are hitting and catching penalties, then, i would say you need more practice, particularly if you know the exact spots.

on the other hand.. this is a raceing league that has good drivers, i have yet to see anyone willfully cheat BUT i have seen people get NAILED with cut penalties for AVOIDING someone spinning, ( happened when i spun at the buss stop at daytona and 2 cars swerved to miss me and i felt compelled to wait to race them until they unghosted, also at motegi, i was behind AJG when he also swerved to avoid contact heading onto the main stretch.... if people want to cheat, even without penalties active.... it would be obvious to the rest of us who are raceing respectably

can we review the penalty rules please, at this point we should be past cheating.. more problems are ariseing from racers attempting to avoid contact, instead getting hit with a race loosing penalty? not to mention people drop the race usually after thier 1st penalty, again i dont belive anyone was cheating, just unfortunate circumstances. but haveing a full field make it to the finish line makes me feel warm N fuzzy inside:tup:

Real Damage for Real Drivers:

without penalties, damged racecars will make it back to the pits more efficiently if they can stay off track and out of the raceing line, as they make thier way back to the pits.

without full damge this is really just a long arcade race, not a simulation, with worse penalties for avioding spins with cut penalties, rather then punishment for bounceing off the walls at a track like say ... monanaco, and pulling off a win.

while i like an idea of a pace car... i really dont see it working out here.. and besides.. pacecars just waste laps, and erase a well earned lead, if one should have been built up. these cars will never quit running, blow an engine or shed parts... saftey cars are not nessisary. if your the victim of bad driving.. well thats raceing.

I love raceing, looking for as close to the real thing as possible, i hope others will join my campaign.

Just one question before I comment; have you raced in any of the SPEC races?

Well that sucked. Not the race but I stupidly clicked ok on my last pit stop when I was going to change to hards and had to pit on the last lap to be legal. That was a long race to throw away like that. Otherwise I really enjoyed it. The strategy of when to pit and all was fun to figure out and I think if I had got the right tires on the last one it might have been a close one because I think we were on different tire strategies. Anyways good race and I'll see you all next week.

I thought you had it. Its ok about your mistake... In a 50 lapper at Daytona's road course that I finished an hour earlier, I ran out of gas on the last lap!! I was well in the lead too. That was extremely disappointing.

I had to get off b4 the race started my gf got into an accident down the street from my house

daang I hope it wasn't a big one

In my other series there isn't heavy damage and its because if a careless person behind you hits you and causes damage it is completely unfair

I do have to say I agree with no penalty verses having them on. I got hit with 3 of them during the race. One was because I was pushed under braking and so ended up a little wide and with a penalty. Another when I was lapping someone and went a little wide and the last time in turn one coming out of the pits I got one for missing my braking on cold tires. I agree with not cutting the track or gaining an advatage by going off but some of the penalty zones on some tracks are not well placed and it sucks to get a penalty from someone elses mistake as in being bumped under braking. I think just have the protest system and if someone is cutting the track give them penalties after the race. Just my .02

I have to disagree. Having the penalties on makes everyone honest;).

I think everyone knows each track pretty good and if you know where you get the penalties then its up to that driver to avoid them. To the point if someone pushes you into a penalty , then thats where the protest system comes into effect. Its up to the driver on cold tires to know how the car is going to handle in the 1st lap and the braking points are going to be different on new tires.
I'd rather someone bump me a little or ghost through me than wind up with major damage and have to limp to the pits. If we did have penalties off then we would set damage to heavy instead of light.
I also got tagged with a few penalties but my bad! I should have been careful in those sections.
Remember , these races are 45-50 laps with an average of 11 racers on that particular night and it would be a lot of work (hours) to watch:eek: every lap and racer to see if anyone was corner cutting. Not everyone is going to see this when or if it occurs.

With that being said , I would not mind just a trial race with penalties off and damage on heavy but not with 2 races to go in this season. And we would have to have a few stewards to watch replays and look for the corner cutting.

I didn't know where the penalty points were and the ones I got hit with were from 2 wheels off. To me this takes away from the fun of the race when you make a small mistake and drop 2 wheels and lose 5 seconds instead of half a second or maybe a second. If the penalty sections were well known I guess I wouldn't have as much of an objection to it. I'm pretty new to the online part of the game and some tracks I haven't raced on at all online. After the race i saw the post about the different spots on the track that had weird penalties and those funny enough are the ones that got me.

For those who would cheat most of them would be near someone else when they did and a protest can be filed. What I hate is when the penalty gets in the way of good racing. If you're side by side racing hard and one person drops 2 wheels into a penalty zone then the race is over instead of it continuing. For example the time I got hit under braking and went off slightly instead of just losing one position and some momentum I lost touch with the lead and had to spend the next 5 or 6 laps catching up. Just make it so if you're caught cheating multiple times that you can't race in the series and leave it at that.

I feel like we all joined this league to have fun in a respectful way and if you want to cut turns then you should leave. Even though I have missed 3 races this season (next season I am determined to make all 5!) I think if there is a wreck and you need to avoid it, its insult to injury when you go off course to avoid it AND get a short cut penalty. We are racing in a private room, not a public room where people don't know the rules. If you join gtplanet it means you love Gran Turismo enough that you want to take it seriously and if you want to drive seriously then you wouldn't cut turns and/or chicanes.

As to the pace car, I don't believe we need one. Pace cars in racing are only for when the safety crews need to go out and clean up the mess. We don't lose parts and we don't need to go to the infield care center. So pace cars I think are out.

Another thing I think should be in is segment races. 1st segment could be 30 laps. 2nd segment could be 15 laps. To reward people who lead the whole race and run out of gas at the end or have to make that final stop they should get 1 or 2 bonus points for winning segment 1. Then everyone pits at the end of segment one or you have to change both compounds in segment one. Then you have a dash for a segment 2, and that could be the final standings I understand this is an endurance club but people have left because they feel its to long and they are in the way. Maybe if we had the segments it could attract more riders and one day be more popular then those snails on Sunday nights;)! Its just a thought since we are discussing so many things like brake balance and penalties. How do you guys feel about segments?

Your reward for running out of gas should be last place. Having a set pit time is pointless; we could just run two races. Pit strategy should be a part of this, along with tire strategy.

I changed it to your not allowed to pit in between the segments and you have to change both compounds in segment one. I forgot that a set pitstop would take out strategy

I think that Fuji is an anomaly when it comes to penalties. Most every other track have well defined boundaries. If you go too wide, you're going to get a penalty. I wish I could have made the Fuji race; I've got a pretty good feel for the penalties there.

yes, and few test sessions tring to smooth out pace car rules, helpped set up D-2 rooms when we had too many people for the lutos challenges, took 3rd at motegi

haveing penalties... and getting snagged by avoiding a spin or getting push into a corner is much more frustrating then being hit from behind and dealing with some damage, chances are with small damge you can finish out a segment.. but a "X" sec penalty becuse your affraid people in this leauge cheats... seems like you need regulations.. and people to enforce them.

if you want people to remain honest then kick people out who cheat, Punt or cut corners, with one maybe two warnings, ( we where running 2 nearly full rooms)and full damge is the best way to keep people honest, you find out where the REAL passing zones are... you plan for hard turns, you test your ability to think ahead rather then the bumber in front of you.

again i am looking for the best, most SIM like experience to raceing as i can get, with invisible boundries, and free smacks against the wall, i just dont see that happeneing, if drivers are running into the back of people on a regular basis, a talk must be held with said driver, then go forward, if someone blantenly cuts every turn they can.. same deal, and forfeit of points for each race they cut.

if it's people to watch and enforce penalties you need, i would gladly give up a race spot to do so, i am not running the lancer, I dont think 4wd on pavement if very realistic, but i have sat. nights free to help out.

i only make these comment to help my personal experience, with the hope others may be looking for a realistic race, not to jab at people, not to insult, but rather to make known 2 you, what i, ME, persoanlly feel... is "fun", i get bored in a long race when i know.. i can bounce off a wall, and not need to make a pit stop.. also with the thrill of raceing someone who may in fact run into my rear bumbper... it's all part of raceing.. it happens in real life too... nearly every weekend in all series with a close races for the win, thats why people watch, thats why i am here, thats why i love it.:)

so please, if you guys need help officiating, i am free on sat. Nights, otherwise i do in fact plan on running next season, just hope if it's 4wd.. we can at least put some dirt.. or snow tracks on the schedule. race on my freinds, race hard:tup:

if we dont swap to real damge.. then please.. penalties are the same annoyence to the people who run hard.. the same "unfairness" of others mistake hold true for penalties as well as full damge. if you get bumped from behind and go wide.. chances are you'll still lose the postision, but at least have a way to race it back without a penalty taking you out. ( not to mention on long straight where poeple may try to bump draft.. if there is ANY lag involved... a collision penalty will be awarded to the "pusher")👎

i actually think this is a cool set up for a way to qualify.. or for like a sprint night for an additional event, maybe make it a non-points thing, sorta like an all star race.💡

We should try it after the last race at the champions track choice.
1st segment could be 35 laps. You must change both compounds in the 1st segment. 2nd segment is 10 laps and the starting order is the finishing order of segment one. You cannot pit inbetween segments and you can make the whole race 47 laps.
2 laps inbetween segments to line up and whatnot

Quietest this thread has been for a while, one week we r having big discussions and the next silence.

SHHHHHH I'm hunting wabbits!!!!!

it has been quiet this week for sure.. i think it's becuase colleges start up on monday. we did tak about a few issues though, full damage, penalties, and brakes... brakes was a new one for me, the other two are the normal.

plus Beal, hows for father doing?👍👎?

So there's no racing for Friday night either lol I'm anxious to try this new fform of racing out hehe , nd if there is racing sat night.. how do we meet eachother?

You would get a friend request from either Spec_Racing or Spec_Division2. Whatever one you get you will join the lounge of the account at 10pm ET and the race will start at 10:30 pm ET

Oohhh well I got a message from S.N.A.I.L_SpecRacing like last Sunday , and finally got him as a friend do I just wait for them to send me a message tonight nd that's it? Just to make sure

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been around too much this week, it's been a long week taking care of dad, as well as taking my brother to football practice. All the points are now up to date in the first post. Also I'd like to welcome DSM4G64AyoManny and zeromisfit999!
I'll be sending both of you FR shortly from the SPEC_Racing account. This is where we'll be racing Saturday nights. Also remember to read the first post and when you've got the time please fill out the rest of your applications. Thanks for joining and hope to see you racing with us tomorrow night!

Additionally jbica has sent me a PM and he too will be joining us again. I don't think we'll have enough for two divisions yet, so everything will be taking place in the SPEC_Racing lobby tomorrow. See you all then!

I'm Back.... I'm Back in the Saddle Again..... I'm Back!

Will not be racing tonight, too tired to focus on a long race.
