What does the manager do? I was thinking of helping out for d1

You can read this for a detailed description, but to put it simply, the manager is just there to make sure that your division is firing on all cylinders. This league thrives on teamwork, but with multiple divisions and promotion and relegation constantly moving drivers between divisions, there are a lot of moving parts to keep track of. By having someone in each division help ensure that everyone is fulfilling the roles they signed up for, it will reduce the likelihood that things get overlooked while simultaneously helping the league run smoother overall. 👍

There are many fine details that go into the weekly operation of each division. For one or two individuals to manage all 5 divisions can be overwhelming. The task is much easier for one person to look after all the behind the scenes stuff for only one group.

For any given League night ( and the days following), there are a handful of jobs that must be done to keep the SNAIL machine going. Each division needs to have a host, director, scorekeeper, replay uploader, data specialist, stewards, etc. The GM will make sure that all of the positions are filled will at least one back up. This will need to be done before each Sunday and at the beginning of each new season after the P/R list comes out.

The GM will also help coordinate replay uploads if there are any missing replays, makes sure that data is entered in a timely manor and also coordinate replacements when a primary will not be racing. Generally, just look after the oily bits so your division runs smooth and everyone can concentrate on racing and chiefly. take a huge load off of zer0 and 'cheeb.

I know I am missing some things... Long day and all, but you get the idea.

EDIT: is it bushes or trees??

Hey guys,

It's been ages since I actually ran some practice laps for a SNAIL race. I ran for about 20 minutes with the 430 Scud at high speed ring. I ran a 1:08.3 and think I could get just under 1:08 with a good lap. I checked the spreadsheet for lap times but those are potentially with a draft so does anyone have lap times without a draft that they would share so I can see how I am comparing?

Thanks

A bit late but here is some pictures of last sunday
Enjoy!

D3 ACTION

Bandit and Dragonwhisky crossing the finish line

Pretty sure that was Phisher, in my horribly broke in and disastrously shoed, hand me down Scud. I pulled into the pits before the first lap was over.

Along the lines of this and the above comments. After properly breaking in and shoeing the Scud, I hopped into D1 Wednesday night before the Stamina Series to see if I could actually race the car with the D3 folks and laid down several 1:08s and even a few high 1:07s without draft. Hooker dropped in and we had a little draft fest and I got into the low :07s with his help. Just as it was about to get epic though, I got DCed and after getting back in it was time to get set up for the Stamina Series.

Want to help but my "History of Helping" has not been very Stellar. Also not sure my connections are sufficient:

(Didn't know how to paste the image instead of the Link)

Let me know if this, and if I, can help out. Will donate my Shells to Charity.

Tex, no need to worry about a connection unless your a host. And your connection looks good enough for it. Though I suggest testing on a server on the opposite side of the country for more pertinent results.

That said, I can direct d3. But I won't be able to keep score since I use that time in between races to finish off and set up recordings.

Guess that answers my question about helping out in Div-3.
Probably best.

It wasn't directed at you or anyone else specifically. I made the comment because people with connection issues are showing up more frequently and they don't seem to take a hint when they are being told that they are lagging and making everyone around them lag in some cases, that they should probably get out of the room before they ruin someone else's race.

To your credit tonight, you tried to race, you saw that you had a problem and you got out of the way. That is all we can ask anyone to do. My issue is the guy that spends the entire night being told he is lagging and just keeps on racing with no regard for what he is doing to the rest of the drivers.

How about you just let everyone or at least the person you are referring to know who it is so said person will know in the future. Obviously it's someone in particular.

It's not anyone in particular. It applies to anyone that is being told repeatedly in the room that they are lagging and affecting others. It's just a general courtesy. When I had DSL internet, I would be told that I was lagging and I would exit the room and make an effort to fix the issue (reset router and such) then I would come back in and see if it was better. If I couldn't fix it, I would give up for the night. To me, it seemed like the right thing to do for the sake of everyone else in the room.

Wolf, if i may direct your attent to the quote above...
Tex also volunteered to host.

I have no issues hosting either. I thought I saw Fox as being primary which he has extremely fast internet but also saw that he may take a leave of absence for some time.

Tex, what is your connection? I can either by primary or back up, no issues what it is as long as we have a good stable connection through the night.

**I see what the issue is. We just got thread crossed; I did not mean to impose onto your offering to host. Considered it retracted.

I can also keep score, but I don't think I have access to the scoring spreadsheet. So, whoever controls that please add me to the access list.

BTW,
Since I did not make practice last night... I will be up hosting a semi formal session at around 9:30-10 EST tonight, so if you want to practice meet me at D1.

Update:

Hello SNAILs!!! I would just like to take a moment and introduce you too the S.N.A.I.L. Video thread! In this thread you will find a multitude of videos featuring the greatest racing creatures of all SNAILs! Who knew right? So please, come, visit, add it to your favorites, and be sure to check back often as new videos will be placed up there all the time.

If you visit you will notice many reserved spaces. These are for all of you! anyone who races in a series or anyone who runs a series. I would like to invite you to upload some of your replays so I can place them on the channel and share them here. I will be doing this through google drive. I plan of placing 4 replays from each serier, or for those participating. I would also like to work with someone to perhaps build a snail good racecraft series. making a video that highlights a particular subject. Everything from proper passing, examples of bad passes, even perhaps how to run a d1 line around a particular track. This will take some time and planning though. And some help too. So anyone interested, or have replays to share, please PM or post here, and I will set you up.

One more update, a few videos have been added to the Youtube channel!! Be sure to Check It Out!

I think I need to give up on sleeping...
I love this game. Lucky win this time PD. Couldn't do it without you guys!

Thanks for all the work you've put into this, Rally! I've updated the TEAM S.N.A.I.L. post (link in my sig) with links to both the YouTube Channel and Video Channel. I've also added an option to "earn $hells" for video producers (again, link in my sig). So anytime you or DriftinAssassin uploads a video, please make sure you announce it on the thread so that you can reference the post and earn a $hell (one per video posted). :)

1:07.2 no draft.

I'll try and show up since I couldn't make it yesterday either. :)

As discussed earlier this week, some of us wanted to start a drifting event on Fridays! My question is are we still up to give it a try? If so what time and where?

We can give it a try tonight in D2 if you guys are up for it. I don't know when since I'm going out later but I will be sure to to let you guys know when I get back. :)

I too will place this as tentative.
I will try and make it for some drift, but I have a long chore list and some homework too.
Hmmm, I tell ya what, I'll really try to be there, I really want to get some drift in, but lets also do some rally tracks with RWD cars too. I really want to take the Merc 190e out on a dirt track, since that is what the car was originally built for. Man did Audi really change the face of rally man. But I would like to get some tandem practice too.

Whatcha guys drift? My goto is a Chrysler Crossfire. I also drift various FD's, 2 FC's, A RUF 3400s, and a Yellow Bird, though I need to retune it now that I found the new wheel settings. I also have an assortment of odd cars. The volvo wagon, the Nissan 400r, Lotus Carlton, I think I may try a Ginetta G4 tune now.

I actually enjoy drifting cars that are stock tune, I find that the concept Citroen that we drove a few weeks ago so great for drifting in my opinion

Has anyone here played the F1 game series (F1 2012 .etc), if so, would you recommend buying the new one when it comes out in a couple of months?

I drift tooooo many cars to put on here a couple that I usually drift are my VW golf VI R '10, Maserati GranTurismo S '08(always nice to drift a boat!), and my Audi TTS Coupe '09!

Edit: totally forgot about my BMW Z4 M Coupe '08!
