Someone let me know if the race is still on for tonight
If you're referring to Mystic Racing, I won't be able to host it tonight. My wife's whole family is in town so we're all out and about. I'll be hosting it next week though and I'm thinking about starting a separate thread to see if it generates more interest.

Fun facts about this weeks combos:

  • All 3 cars are naturally aspirated and Mid-engined.
  • Both of the Renaults will race on real tracks.
  • The Red Bull X2014 Junior is not a real car and won't race on a real track.
  • Speaking of the Red Bull, you can drive it with a H-pattern 'box with the clutch.
  • On GTP, the Clio V6 once caused an argument over Renault referring it as a coupe, but @Famine said that was BS, and thus it was started.
  • I will paint my Clio V6 in the purple you can get from a Mini (don't remember the name) in honor of this.
If anyone else can think of any other fun facts, post 'em!

The past couple of months have been a wild ride with the platform change and so much growth. The dust is has started to settle and the S.N.A.I.L. community is even stronger than ever. It should not be a big surprise that GT6 is still monking up the works. I am not going to beat up on what is still wrong with our game but more focus on how far we have come in spite of a few broken promises.

Missing content, settings that don't function and the amusing little glitches are just little inconveniences. The lack of community features and the connectivity issues are a horse of a different color. Our world has been complicated by a factor of 10 with trying to run open or friends only lobbies for race night. Multiply that by a factor of 100 when you add in the serious connection issues we have endured. Nothing that has been thrown into our path has slowed us down. It has made us stronger. All of our members working together to overcome disconnects, random idiots, entire rooms imploding and all other sorts of chaos.

Everyone, whether a seasoned veteran or a first night driver, pitched in and helped out to make sure that race night stayed on track. There were nights that went almost two hours over scheduled time. No one was willing to just lay down or give up. We will race no matter what the circumstances are. We are S.N.A.I.L. The first quote says it all. Even though we all know and expect race nights to get out of hand, we keep coming back. Nothing is going to stop us from racing.

The new generation of S.N.A.I.L. I am just so impressed with our "new" drivers. The level of passion, dedication and talent is fantastic and dead on with our Leagues values. With 9 divisions to run, it takes a huge amount of people to pull it off every week. This new part of our League is not only stepping up and filling important jobs every week, they are changing the way we do business. Team S.N.A.I.L. is filling up very nicely. The talent and fresh thinking is going beyond the duties of Team S.N.A.I.L. and finding their ideas on the thread. We are enjoying more and more race photos and everyone is putting a lot of heart in their work.

One of the coolest and most notable is our new "comic strip." @LoganMichael has taken division photography to a whole new level. It is this kind of thinking that is going to keep our League going for years to come. @nmcp1 isn't new but he is also riding this new energy. I have been a data specialist for a very long time now and have always considered myself to be an authority on the matter. Well, this old dog learned a new trick! @nmcp1 has changed how we data guys make our posts. His unique approach to getting the data noticed is just awesome! It should be the standard.

There are many other new ideas bouncing around the thread as well. Even the old timers are springing into action by helping to usher in the new era of communicating with each other with an updated and more accessible directory. On top of everything else, the single coolest thing I have been seeing is the crowd that always seems to be lurking on the Results Doc. Every time I have gone these days there are at least a half dozen members there soaking up the data. Pretty damn cool...

Speaking of Team S.N.A.I.L... There are still many positions that need to be filled but this isn't and advertisement as much as it is a testament to why back ups are needed and so important. Last week in division 6, our primary host had technical issues right before race time and left without an internet connection. We had no idea until later. When the flag was supposed to be dropping, we still had no host. Within minutes of figuring out that we had a problem, there were 3 rooms ready to go. All rooms had a League approved host. We settled on one and went racing. We are S.N.A.I.L...

Although the ride has been more than just a little bumpy, the spirit of our League has persevered. Things will work themselves out in time but as we move into the future, our little place in the sim racing world will continue to grow and evolve in spite of what danger lurks ahead. We are a truly special and unique group of people and with a little hope and patients, we will have our world will be back to normal. @zer05ive has been thinking of ways to communicate how important a functional GT6 is to our League. I hope his efforts find an open mind. Maybe if we could find a way for Kaz to come here and see what his vision has helped create it would make a stronger statement for fixing a few things. Stranger things have happened. We are S.N.A.I.L. dammit!!

Hi all, are you still accepting members? I would love to join in on the fun. psn: xpiratenationx
@Mark II,
Thanks for your interest!
We would love to have you in the league. Here's what you need to know and do in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the S.N.A.I.L. OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide.
Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You take the S.N.A.I.L. OLR and Racecraft Test

2. You run the Time Trial and submit your information by 23:59 EST on Saturday night if you want to race this Sunday.

3. @JLBowler PM's you with your assigned Division that we feel will give you the closest competition. You will be added to the drivers list.

4. The Race Director or Primary Host from the corresponding SNAIL Division will send you a PSN friend request. Sunday night you will need to sort the online lobbies by friends and join the lobby named 'snailracing.org Division_(x) based off your Division placement from JLBowler. That lobby will be where you race Sunday.

5. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

The original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.

If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.
To avoid duplication, the currently claimed combinations can be found here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.

Welcome to S.N.A.I.L.

2/3 cars are from France
the 3rd car the Red bull is not from France (I dont think), but you could not buy a Red Bull in France from 1996 to 2008

I accept the terms and I am ready to make my picks.

@ExoSphere64 - great Pit Board, well done.

@Dragonwhisky - fun cruise & clutch session! The Ford GT was a great choice at Saarthe for clutch&grind learning, and the Junior was fun as well. Gotta admit, though, I love that Hudson almost as much as I enjoy gravel.... If I ever had an A prize.... Hudson Hornet at Toscana would be a consideration, even if it may hit the limiter.

Great job as always Exo.

If Kaz was looking to add "Human Drama" to the GT series, he need look no further than right here in this epic thread. There is enough "Human Drama" here to make him forget about trying to add it to the game and give us the tools we truly need to be even more successful in what we do.

The Racer 5 IPA is OK. It's just OK, there are much better IPAs out there but it is a cool package.

You are authorized to make your picks.

I accept the terms and services agreement (even though I didn't read it) and ready to do the thing.

(Yes, I know I'm not in this, I'm just being silly.)

As of this post, here is the current list of the
Allen Berg Racing Schools Challenge picks. If you are a finalist, please post on this thread that you agree to the terms and conditions of the contest and that you're ready to make your picks. Once @KTR5 authorizes you to proceed with your numbers selection, click the 'Reply' button below and then add your name next to any numbers that are still available. Be sure that you don't make more picks than the number of picks you have earned. Once you're done making your picks, you need to delete the text above the Allen Berg Racing SChologo (it looks like this: [qu0te="username, post: 1234567, member: 123456"]). After you've deleted that, hit the 'Post Reply' button down below. Please be sure that you are replying to the latest list before making your picks. Good luck!

A note on track re-entry after going out of bounds: It doesn't matter what caused the off track excursion. The driver that is out of bounds, for whatever the reason, is under the burden to rejoin the racing surface in a safe manner that will not impede or cause other drivers to take evasive action.

If a driver is disconnected between the first race of a round and the reverse grid race, especially if that driver finished high in the order, and reconnects prior to the reverse grid starting, a manual grid should be accomplished. If any of the hosts or directors are unsure how to accomplish a manual reverse grid, send me a PM and I'll provide instructions on how it's done. The other option, in a case like this, is for the driver that got DCed and reconnected, to pull over before turn one and let the field go by until he/she can slot in at their appropriate reverse grid starting position.

The Polyphony Digital Gran Turismo 6 Replay Lottery appears to have turned off the lights and shut it's doors. Thankfully.
