In case you forgot, the GT Academy is still going. I've updated the DATABASE and included US place for the those in the top 3000 worldwide. As of right now, there are:

4 SNAILs in the top 250 in the world
7 in the top 30 in the US
15 in the top 1000 in the world

If you're not included in the DATABASE, please submit your time in this FORM

I'm wondering how many people have done the time trial as a whole in round 1... I feel like I'm only competing against a handful of guys.... Any stats with astronomical numbers of participants like the last 2 years?

Total entries as of 3:30 ET today were 174,561. I know there are multiple PSNs for some people as well has a certain number of errors where someones time is listed twice in a row. Either way, it's a pretty high number. I had my son drive a pretty slow lap, 2:40 so he's near the bottom and it's easy for me to check. There is someone who has gone 9:20 or something.

I'll get there as soon as I can, but it won't be 8 pm. How late are you planning to go?

Since we're sort of on the subject of replays, I would like to point out something. 90% of the stewards have a very narrow window for getting reviews done. In some cases, it's as narrow as 1-2 hours on the Tuesday following race day, whether prize candidates are involved or not. It is fairly important, if we're to get as many reviews as possible, to get all the replays uploaded no later than Monday night, so those stewards that have other obligations during the rest of the week, have an opportunity to contribute, and make reviews as fair as they can be. Delaying replays availability well into Wednesday puts quite a crimp in everyone's schedule and decreases the fairness factor of reviews.
Recruit more stewards I'd be willing to staff

It's weird to me, that when I was younger I wasn't really into Formula 1 or racing in general... I *had* heard of Senna, but the memory that sticks into my mind of Senna wasn't how great he was, his charity, or even his death... it was the incident with Prost... I don't know why I remember it or always picture it vividly in my head in association with Senna... but if you asked me at 12 years old if I knew who Ayrton Senna was I would've replied "Isn't he that guy who crashed the other guy so he could win the championship?"

Also, is quoting his "if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you're no longer a racing driver" response a defense in an incident report? :P

I think that has been used and the counter argument is that we're not doing this for money like the professionals are. This is supposed to be a fun place to race and improve your race craft. As soon as we get to the point where it's all about winning, I won't be racing here anymore.

I know, I'm intentionally being a twit

Since the cars for this look juicy and I will place my vote for that Devil's Lambo to keep them juicy, I will plan on attending. If the votes swing to anything besides the lambo or the BMW, you may consider my attendance canceled.

So far as I recall, the first grid was done reverse by Division and the next 2 were reverse by previous race results.

you are right, the 1st race will be pretty much set according to Division; expcet for WC, depending on who represents.

lol @Severn, I know there are some drivers who already understand and know how to deal with someone behind them 'going for the gap., however, I know that I did not understand there even was or needed to be a distinction until people were getting upset at me. I think it is possible that there might be some misconceptions as well since it is not clear. I believe there is a need for more knowledge here that can lessen painful experiences, and even sometimes people quitting S.N.A.I.L. I have been trying to understand and have been on this point for a little while; there is a difference between going for the gap and dive bombing.

I believe that both the over-taking driver and the driver being over-taken could really benefit from understanding this distinction and the elements of each. I feel that both drivers might also have some preconceived misconceptions which would be only natural in this challenging and complex situation compounded and reinforced by bad (intentional) or disappointing (unintentional) experiences we may all have had in random rooms or elsewhere. Recently, I had a long private discussion with another driver, and we kind of figured some of it out together, helped, in part, by little tidbits that we had both collected from more experienced drivers. I'd kind of like to share our discussion, which contains these tidbits, but have not really pursued how that would be done. I think it is a pretty frequent and difficult type of situation, often becoming an incident, and could be of benefit to the league to have the distinction clarified. And it could be part of the firsts posts and the OLR. I think it would make for more good racing, and less ruined races.

It might be possible that if people can clearly see a difference, they might be able to better understand 'going for the gap', anticipate or expect it, and better know how to adjust to it, or even counter it (for example, it seems that it might be that both drivers have certain responsibilities in this situation, not just the over-taking driver). Also, a driver could make a better decision about when going for the gap would be possible and when going for the gap would result in a dive bomb. I'd be willing to help with this if others feel it would be of benefit, and of course, it seems it would be an open conversation/development project.

One reason I picked this painting for my new Avatar was the color of Bruce's McLaren. In the beginning before wraps and real sponsors cars usually raced in either team color like Ferrarri Red or National Racing Colors, US was Dark Blue with White Stripe(s). The British had...you guessed it...British Racing Green. Bruce decided to tint all his fiberglass a particular hue of orange which for evermore was known as "McLaren Orange". And all his cars had a tiny Kiwi bird on them....usually near the cockpit.

I have a question for you! Why did the British choose green as their racing colour?

Did you know that Michael Turner not only painted your avatar but he also designed McLaren's logos used between 1963 and 1980?

More of a surprise to me was the fact Turner also designed the bodywork for the McLaren M1B Cam-Am car.

Edit: Is the Steward Review Sheet no longer accessible without permission?

Well sorry I like that saying.
But I just had it recently changed.

I suggest letting the WC start first;) JPE or Neo should be hard to catch if they start out front.

Bare in mind that the West Coast has two of the top 10 US competitors in the GT academy at the moment.

imo going for the gap means out braking them but using a slighty different line, which then ends you side by side for the next turn, or has you passing them before the mext turn.

Dive bombing is outbraking them and interrupting the lead cars line once it has already been intiatated

Sounds good, don't think I could make it. You have more speed than me anyway.

I'll gladly take it, but then again, racing is racing, You won the spot, I'm only taking it as 1st runner up ;)

Seems like we have a very proud WC Director here

Damn right I am:) even prouder of the race win I got a few weeks ago. Sure it was in the impossible to Pass Fiat and I started near the front on the reverse grid but heck with you fast guys in the division I gotta take them when I get them. I am down to 1:03.8xx on GT A. I can see a 1:03.6 but not much beyond that.

Well got down to a 1:18.899 eiger nordwand time to go back to Tokyo I can't host a practice room this storm keeps dc me so if u got me as a friend jump in and take host back

Question for the group. Are lapped cars always ghosted or is there a setting that can change that?

You must run with penalties off to keep lapped cars from ghosting.

The necessary D7 replays are up for the stewards. Thanks to @deaconblues82 and @joe_diben for their efforts. You both may want to claim some $hells for making these available.

Thank you.
