Hope you guys are enjoying the updates during the race weekend!

Today didn't quite go as well as planned but we did get some dry-ish running in! First practice Alex Buncombe went out in the car to start the session but after a couple laps it was decided the rain was far too bad to go out for all the teams which pretty much ended that session.

Second practice session went much better with some sun trying to pop out and dry the track up for us. First half of the session was a fairly damp track but second part we had a mainly dry track and were able to throw some slicks on. Felt good to finally run the full GP circuit in almost all dry conditions, at least for the 3 laps I got till the end of the session. All in all enjoyed the running we got today although limited. Looking forward to tomorrow and going racing!

Catch qualifying and racing live tomorrow on NISMO.TV! Also, watch the highlights from the race on CBS Sports Network channel 221 and channel 158 on DISH at 2pm(PST).

Love the updates @GumballCGT and that's a great picture too!

The on board camera, at least to me, shows a very different looking track than we have on GT6. It's the same route of course, but the additional barriers, and in some spots less curbing is a lot different.

The version of the track in GT6 (and GT5 as well) dates back to GT3. The pit lane is different, Sainte Devote is different, and the entrance to La Rascasse is different as well.

Guys, the biggest difference from gt5/6 to reality is the bus stop area at Daytona road coarse as in the game, the straight between chicanes is way longer than real life.

The old version of that chicane. All of the signs around the track also still say Nextel. NASCAR's top series became the Sprint Cup Series starting in 2008, so the track was probably modeled in 2007 at the latest.

The Indy Road Course layout is also old, it was changed in 2008, also pointing to that track being modeled as late as 2007.

Finally, Laguna Seca probably dates back to GT2, so 1999. Runoff at certain corners have been added in that time, but track model is outdated.

PD updates their tracks (All are pretty much as they were dating back to 1998, but updated for a new console.), but real-world track models that have been in previous games are old as hell.

I would like to make a serious proposal for the league, an earlier start time.

For me, race time is 8:30 PM. While that doesn't sound all that bad, it tends to go past 11:00 PM.

I think at least an hour and a half earlier will benefit all of us.

Current time is ideal for me, and I'm in the central time zone too. Any earlier and it interferes with dinner/relaxing time, and any later and it makes it too late. Just my 2 cents.

Also, not sure if this was posted already. The red Miata driver was booted from the series and fined:

That was horrible. What a 🤬 🤬!

Holy crap, I hope he was OK...

The other guy though, not looking in your mirrors can cost someone else a race. Worse than that, he he looked right over his shoulder, then moved over.

****ing moron, I'd punch him in the head for that.

You really shift with your left hand ?

I would if I had that option :)

6:30 here is already too early so no, definitely won't benefit all of us.

No. 6:30 is too early for me sometimes (especially in the summer months) and a lot of the west coast guys. If it's taking you 2 and a half hours to run through a league night, your division needs to get their poop in a pile and run inside of the two hours it's supposed to take.

Fine ill speed up even more so I can get behind everyone and then push them harder. Lol but last Sunday though we did have major room issues, he was in room when he wasn't even online when he disco'd, but yea I agree everyone should be in two hours unless something drastic like a tornado happens.

Wow, I would think that was enough for a lifetime ban.

If I was the guy with the camera, I would be tempted to make that a short ban as well!

Racing / insurance question - is a driver financially responsible for deliberate or (court/steward, etc reviewed) blatantly negligent actions that damage other cars?

The green flag about to drop, so here is the final list of picks for the GranStand Challenge III! I'd like to personally thank @KTR5 for managing all of the finalists and their picks so well. Huge thanks also goes to all the finalists for racing often (and clean) during the contest period. And last but not least, a heartfelt thank you to @GranStand Bill for being such a friend and supporter of the league and for making this contest possible!

Please note that a few of the numbers went unclaimed, so those numbers have been assigned to Team SNAIL. If one of the Team SNAIL numbers is the winning number, then the prize will be auctioned off in the SNAIL Marketplace.

Good luck to all the finalists and Team SNAIL members! And most importantly, good luck to @GumballCGT during the race!! The entire league will be cheering you on, and quite a few guys will be watching your fast laps as well! :sly:

Looks like Nick's team - car #80 - is starting well. About 4th place 20 minutes in.

Alex Bunscombe is behind the wheel (he opened at Monza), teamed with Nick McMillen (@GumballCGT ) and Florian Strauss.

Hope it goes well!

The other GT Academy Team is #35, in the teens early on, with Katsumasa Chiyo, Miguel Faisca, and Mark Shulzhitskiy in that car.

#35 maybe be further back in the pack but it isn't slacking. Just had a crazy battle with a Ferrari.

Alex is driving insanely quick keeping up with two McLarens and the Bently. A good setup for Nick to come into at the start of his stint.

@zer05ive I may be in Team S.N.A.I.L., but I wish to be excluded from this, as I already own a GranStand (In case nobody knew that before, but everyone already does. :P).

So should I be expecting a post about a time trial or something? I'm not really sure what's going on as far as getting back into this.
