Let's meet at VIR!

Hells to the yes!

I had talked my wife into a trip to Baltimore to take the kids to the aquarium over the same weekend there was a race, but then we went to Florida and visited family and such, so... broke now.

Circuit of the Americas has already reported that all tickets have been sold out :nervous: This was according to an article I read on SpeedTV.com

Yes, but have you looked at ticket prices?

Not having been to an F1 event, I was considering paying almost anything :dopey:

That's a shame, zer0, you have a 60+ inch flat panel with HD feed :) Cuz I know you have tickets.

Maybe next year y'all come up to Montreal and we feed you poutine

I took a look at the Camaro RM at Laguna and I think I'm going to like that race. That is one of my favorite cars in the game. We might bump the limiter a couple of times on the straight but it shouldn't be too painful.

The Ferrari is going to be a lot of fun, too. It's a very stable car, though it does want to slide ever so slightly at times. Slower speeds will be required through some of the corners, but the turn back onto the oval can still be taken at or very near full throttle.

The Nissan at GVR seems much more planted than that squirrelly S2000.

This week's races look much better than last from my perspective.

I feel the same way. I still hate Grand Valley, but that's just because I'm terrible there. I should probably spend some time trying to figure out where I'm losing time, and the Nissan is a good car to do it in.

So we wait until next year and go see the V8 Supercars instead, no way that's more expensive than F1 :sly:

The cheapest listed are over $300 each. Is that right?? Maybe all of the cheap tickets have already sold out?

When I went to the Australian GP, buying a 4 day ticket was cheaper than buying one for Saturday and Sunday

I'm going to test the Camaro next. The Nissan initially took some getting used to for me. I started with Automatic transmission to get a feel for it. It wasn't working for me. Once I went to Manual, my times stayed about the same, but the 'feel' of the car significantly improved and I enjoyed it.

The Ferrari is quite a different animal on Sport Soft instead of Racing Mediums. After the first two laps, I found it pretty decent, but had to be diligent on throttle control.

I love the Camaro. Wow.

Saw a big difference from auto to manual, more than normal.

Very rewarding combo. Should be fun.

MAGIC LAP WILL BE HELD THIS FRIDAY AT 10PM EDT with the following theme:

Theme: 'Murica! - We've raced Corvettes before, but now's your chance to drive anything you want from the Greatest Country on Earth!™ Muscle cars are of course an option, but you can drive anything you want! Be creative!

Expect to see me in a Plymouth Superbird, along with some other, less popular American cars. You can't get the full effect if you only show one side of American automotive history!
Track: Road Course - Indy
Car Restriction: Country of Origin: USA (Scion and Lexus not recommended)

The procedure listed in the Magic Lap thread is outdated. I will update it soon. For now, the basic procedure is to get in your car, tell me your time, and I will give you a delay time in response. When the race starts, simply wait until the timer hits that mark before starting to drive. If everything is timed right, everyone will cross the finish line at the same time, no matter what people are driving! It's a blast!

Your Responsibilites:
If you plan on attending, please ensure you understand the following obligations so that the night can run smoothly:

Run test laps for each car you plan on running before you show up to race. You should do the test laps in a lounge or lobby because the physics are different offline. Everything should be set to the settings listed in the Magic Lap thread. Note that for now, tire wear will not be present, so do not test with tire wear on. Write down all your times, as I will not be able to keep track of multiple times for people, only the times of the cars currently being driven. When you change cars, tell me the time of the car you are switching to.

Tuning your cars is allowed, but not recommended. The idea of this event is to drive cars you don't always get a chance to, and avoid the need for comparison. As far as this event is concerned, tuning your car does not make it better, as your delay will always compensate for your performance.

Tires are up to you; you may use the stock tires, or the official S.N.A.I.L. tires, based on PP. I prefer the S.N.A.I.L. tires because they represent what it would be like to take your family sedan to a track day with some sportier-than-stock tires. Sometimes the stock tires just seem to have much less grip than they should.

You may bring as many cars as you want to the event, so long as you ensure you have set times for all of them. After some racing, we will want to have some races where there are no extremely fast cars, and then some with no extremely slow cars. Ensure you do not have exclusively fast cars or exclusively slow cars, but have enough variety to always have something to race. For example, if you bring something higher than 500PP, ensure you also have something below 500PP for when we disallow cars 500PP and above. The same goes for cars below 400PP, so ensure you have something above 400PP. If you only want to bring one car, something between 400 and 500PP will suffice for the whole night. (Hopefully this is clear now; if you have questions about this, please ask!)

Generally, I tend to bring about three or four cars, though you may bring less. I wouldn't recommend bringing more than four.

Make sure you understand everything outlined above and feel free to ask questions. Can't wait to race!

Do I have pics? I have the replay saved...

I don't, is there anyway you could share?
I feel bad if I pushed you off and didn't even notice, will have to be sure I'm clear in the future.

And no one can use the Pontiac GTO since that's just a Holden with the steering wheel on the other side making it Australian :sly:
