Can we drive stowe with the chicanes? I know it's not the official course but it's so much better without that huge straight.

I'm sure @JLBowler will have the official ruling on this, but I don't think this is something we've ever done on Sunday night. I know other SNAIL leagues have, such as adding the chicane at Tsukuba, but not on Sundays. I'm thinking we only use the official track settings as set in the game. If there was an alternative track, like LaSarthe with or without chicanes, then that would be up to the prize winner.

@TEX36 - what kind of lap times you putting down at Stowe? Should be a fun race. Another point of caution with that track I found a couple times, the seam that runs across the back straight will upset the kart if you are close to the edge of the track when running over the seam. I was able to hit it just right once or twice and got a little airborne.

Hey DP on a positive note there's plenty of room to pull over and watch the race without getting in anybody's way

Drewspeed said he was running laps at 0:49 - mine were 50s with a little practice.

Actually back in the day snail did run tuskuba with bike chicane. It's on the list I use any ways (9 September 2012)

I would like to run the chicanes as well. Not because they slow you down, but because they alter the driving line for the better. Makes that section more interesting in that the entry to the left hander at the end of that straight is now more of a carousel and has a nicer rhythm, in my opinion.

Penguin, you make no sense. One minute you say it's a "hot lap track", then the next minute you want to break up the largest straight and negate what is arguably the best passing opportunity that configuration offers. :banghead: Fun track or race track, make up your mind.

I love your picture!
Makes it Look like project cars :yuck:

We will not be using any made up alternate layouts on tracks. The only reason we were able to use the motorcycle chicane one time at Tsukuba was because we all qualified together and someone was able to park and watch the chicane during qualifying. If we were to do something like that now, it would come down to the honor system and, as can be observed by watching blue lines in qualifying, some people have no honor.

Got home late, had issues with some plumbing.
Jumping on now to test the Chevy and the Ford.

I hit this seam at one point tonight and heard what sounded like a Mario Kart 'boing' sound as the rear end went airborne.

I looked around for flying (snail) shells! :boggled:

Otherwise, fun combo.

Sadly, or "Keep your Attention Time", the bumps in the back straight seem to move around - ever so slightly. I found a smooth line across them - only to Lose the Bump Lottery when I least expected it. And it quickly introduced me to the right-side fencing. Sooooo, be careful.

Also I found that taking advantage of the draft on that straight can be treacherous if you don't find another smooth path. Of course, as always, be ready for the next corner and the consequences of a tighter line.

Wish someone had suggested Streets of Willow (probably not the correct name). Karts run very well there. Maybe next time.

Haha Tex, do you want to make it an "Annual Kart Race on the Streets of Willow"?
