It originally applied to asking questions that could be answered by simply reading the first or second post. I retired my fish long ago for those reasons as my fish was worn out and broken down. Reasons for fish slaps have evolved over time and as long as they done in good nature, there is no hard and fast rule as to when someone may use their fish.

Fish or no fish... they are there and named properly. Again.. the search feature is useless sometimes.. ... let me know if you want me to repost..

OOps.. I guess I need to buy new calendars!!

Would anyone, or everyone who has a photo of a fish slap saved, like to introduce the face of Mr. Wolfsatz to a fresh, or not so fresh, fish.:D

I can't believe the other 2 combos got the most votes and that dumpster fire of a Beetle combo is still around :-(
It's the only one that really allowed consistently close racing. Interlagos isn't horrible, just not enough open space to really run wild.

Interlagos with a small car such as the Alfa was plenty of room. I have to go back and look at D1 results for both Beetle races but I am willing to bet there's a pretty noticeable gap between each car at the finish.

A quick look at the data that has been entered from this week, it's only two divisions at the moment, shows the following:

The closest racing (measured by gap from first to last place not counting drivers who were well off the pace) took place in combo 1
The next closest racing took place in combo 2
The widest spread from first to last took place in combo 3

The votes among these two divisions broke down this way:
Combo 1 - 11 votes
Combo 2 - 7 votes
Combo 3 - 3 votes

Seems a little backwards to me.

My point exactly. I agree...seems just a tad backwards.

Numbers are just that, numbers. It's when you get out on track and put theory to practice do you see true data. Even defending 3rd place in Combo 1 felt like a bore. I wasn't defending against the other car so much as trying to keep the rear from sliding. Maybe in the future tires will change since it really seems like the only thing holding the Miata back is not being on SH tires. Then you can really push it and get closer to each other.

From what I saw, the Mazda just didn't provide many passing opportunities unless someome made a mistake and the car is too slow to make it exciting. No offense to the person who chose it, the car and track go together perfectly, but I found the combo fairly boring.

Interlagos and Dragon Trail involved fast race cars and even though the racing wasn't as close, there were still battles throughout the field and the larger track coupled with the fasters created a more exciting and challenging environment. Honestly, I prefer more spread out racing while battling for any position on the track to the one by one close racing I noticed with the Mazda combo.

Looking at total positions gained in each of the combos yields the following:

Combo 1 - 60 positions gained
Combo 2 - 71 positions gained
Combo 3 - 63 positions gained

Combo 2 had a couple of outlier numbers as far as positions gained as one driver gained 10 spots and another gained 9 in the reverse grid races
Combo 3 had some similar outliers as one driver gained 9 and another 8 in the reverse grid races.
Combo 1 had no driver gain more than 6 positions in any race.

Not trying to force any changes, but if anyone wants to set up an open lobby with the Mazda combo on SH tires just to see how the racing will differ then go for it. You might find the combo was boring because of the tires and not the car/track itself. I don't know I haven't done this yet myself, it's just something that can come up with a lackluster combo.

I don't think the combo was boring as much as it was simply a challenge of car control. It boiled down to ride the bumper in front of you until they slip and then you make your move. I didn't love it (because rarely do people in D1 make mistakes) but I didn't hate it either.

That's what I mean. One level of tires up and it goes from being about car control to making potential overtake moves and not being seconds back when it's unsuccessful so you can try again and again.
