Old topic with a possibly new spin. If you follow the quoted post below, you can find many [old] responses. Here goes.
The Nurburgring 24h track (and Nordschleife) is not allowed in snail due to the length of the qualifying session. What if we ran the Nurburgring GP for the qualifying and then the Nurburgring 24h track for the races? The idea is that the GP track is part of the 24h track but would make qualifying doable. After qualifying, would change track & order by last race results. (Maybe would be track change + set the grid manually). Fast cars (Grp X, Grp 1) would finish in ~8 minutes and slow cars (N100) would finish in ~11 minutes.
Again, follow link in quoted post to see what’s already been said. In any case, weigh in and we’ll see if the BOD bite.
With the new update and our increased credit cap to $1million, I started thinking about something. The Green Hell/Nordschliefe has always been banned in SNAIL because of its length. With our larger selection of cars now (The F1 and RedBull Jr come to mind) would it be possible to start using that track?

I searched the thread and found a lengthy discussion about it almost 3 years ago.

You either love it or hate it. But I would absolutely love flying around the ring on a Sunday night with you guys.

For reference this guy laps it in 5:31 with the F1500. The question is what will a mid division lap time be. Maybe after our practice session ends tonight some of you will be up for a race on it since we're already using the F1500 this week.

Per section 3.34 of the SNAIL OLR: "Please remember that any car and track combo chosen must produce a mid-division lap time that is under 5 minutes".

I think multiple laps make better racing as you can work on figuring out where you are faster or slower than those you are racing against.

So your suggestion to allow for a one lap race with limited clean passing opportunities is to qualify on one track and race on another?

I like that you're trying to come up with ideas but that one might not gain much traction. I would bet that an event run on a monthly basis using some variation of the Ring would attract quite a bit of interest. It probably wouldn't even have to be anything too complicated as the lure of the track for some would be a bigger draw than any unique format anyone might come up with.

We have spots open of Friday nights.

@Rob Brown, why don’t you try a “Monthly Run at The Ring” event, where you can have a different group class monthly and see what kind of interest it might draw. Qualify or starting position could be set by division and standing, such as D4 driver that is entered (with the lowest standing in their respective division) gets pole and so on down the line. Or mix it up and try your idea, qualify on the GP then race at The Ring. I would give your idea a shot. Why not!
