Regarding a concern I've had right from my start in league racing, namely that practicing in a vacuum (solo or against AI cars) I am slow in some high speed sections, slow sections, corner exits.... My first issue was turn 1/2 at Suzuka and most recently Indianapolis corner at Sarthe. In R3R2 I'm on the pole again with @Skills in 2nd. Skills does a great job of following me and we are able to pull away a bit, until the entry to Indianapolis where I go through at 230 km/h and skills is following at over 300! The video shows what Skills had to do and how their last race of the night ended. I would like to avoid this in the future. Sorry @Skills.

I'm not saying I'm in the wrong, I just didn't know the technique and was about 30-100 km/h slower in this corner than everyone else. I was wondering if anyone more experienced would be interested coaching/mentoring me. I'm thinking someone I can reach out to with specific questions about a track, or car, or both. A party chat session for half to one hour by arrangement. The longer the list the less often you're called on.

The only thing you can do is 'Practice, Practice, Practice' (with real people) From that video, you did not do anything wrong. It is up to the guy behind you to make a clean pass. Even if you are 50% slower.

Practicing with AI does not come close at all what you will face on a Snail night. Practice with racers along your same laptimes.. and with some faster drivers to improve your times and have a baseline of what you could do next.

I'd be willing to help you. I can't say that I'm much better, but in the sections you specified I'm pretty solid.

Replays also work wonders. Watch a replay of the combo/similar combo and see how the faster drivers handle each corner. In the past, I have found many things that I was missing in regards to certain corner entry, braking, and speed that has helped me better my times and and etiquette

Id be happy to help if you have any questions. The biggest piece of advice i can give is to stop practicing offline. Make a friends only room that way you can compare pace and find out where you need to improve. If you just race offline you have no idea if you are slow in 1 corner or fast in another.

@BB25 asked me to practice with him today. You’re welcome to join us. We haven’t figured out what time yet. He knows I ‘coach’ people & always enjoy helping another driver out.

Where have you been!!!?
A couple days ago I was discussing the people who used to make the banners for snail way back, like @turnupdaheat & @JamCar0ne , I just knew there were other banner pros from the past I was forgetting. Your name was on the tip of my tongue.

Top gear top tip ^^^
That’s how I prepare for FIA sometimes. Gives me a baseline of pace and techniques to try like Wolf said.

Speaking of FIA, I had a great round 1 yesterday! Truly lived up to my brand motto of ‘World class entertainment’
I got held up A LOT, but I have my ways of safely navigating traffic, thanks to my years of snail experience. Had some great, close battles with a former snail super star, Mr. @todally_lit

what' up man! I actually never did banners.. just contributed with the pics. Too much things going on, my wheel got busted; haven't fixed it yet. But it is in the list of things to get fixed, so I can tackle that Ton'o'Rust. Watching the Spa race definitely sparked that adrenaline-rush pill that Snail provides.

A reminder for tonight. Moving to 2 division creates more drivers in each division. There is the potential to fill a room. If that happens and a driver can't enter the room because it is full, they must post in the main thread before the all clear to start is given. The drivers list is also the priority list to enter the room and start the night's racing. Once the all clear to start is given, the host is not to make room for late arriving drivers. Drivers who arrive on time and are in the room will be given space in their assigned division based on the priority list. If a driver is bumped from their division, they may move up if there is room. Drivers may not move down a division.

If there are any questions about this, ask before it's time to race tonight.

Anyone else experiencing network connection issues?
Been a while since I had bugs with my connection, maybe they made their way to your router?

D1 lobby open. Let me know if you can't see it, had a lobby issue last weekend.

No problem with the router. I can see your lobby, but can't connect to it. I tried D2. I can go in but it drops me after a few seconds. Have a good night. Will try one more time next week....

All hosts should start tonight's racing at the scheduled time. The only reason to hold the start is to give someone who was already in the lobby their three minutes to return from the time they left, provided they are believed to have been disconnected, or to sort invisible driver issues.

Thanks to all who responded with advice and offers of help; @Fudman420 @aedenmaddok @Wolfsatz @Akzl298 @MikeGrove.

I compare my situation to learning to play golf. I have background skills; golf: I've swung a bat, badminton racket and hockey stick. SIM racing: I've raced a GT car in the 80s, and SIM raced with a joystick in the 90s. But, I haven't found a better way to learn the finer points. Golf uses many clubs (cars) on many courses (tracks), each with their own nuances, especially the courses (tracks). All on your own it's easy to develop bad habits and simply continue to reenforce them unless shown otherwise, and the sooner the better.

The only thing you can do is 'Practice, Practice, Practice' (with real people)

The biggest piece of advice i can give is to stop practicing offline. Make a friends only room that way you can compare pace and find out where you need to improve. If you just race offline you have no idea if you are slow in 1 corner or fast in another.

I practice a lot. I use offline to learn new tracks, practice starts and determine shift points. When in a lobby I'm often circulating alone and I'm not comfortable asking about technique when others are having fun racing...or speak a language foreign to me. Even following a second or two behind a car doesn't help much in figuring out what the driver is doing.

Replays also work wonders. Watch a replay of the combo/similar combo and see how the faster drivers handle each corner.

I watch replays constantly. Very helpful. What I would really like is commentary on what the driver is thinking during a lap. The best I ever experienced was an ARL school night where @SAMHAIN85 explained Catalunya. He drove and the class spectated. First, a track walk where he pointed out braking points, etc. My highlight was his description of turn 9. High speed corners are a major flaw in my golf bag and his pointers were eye opening to me. Followed by a lap at speed. Wonderful night.

Thanks again to everyone. And I know: practice, practice, practice, practice. See you on the track soon.
