Two tracks that I'm not all that familiar with and one that I can't stand. My goal was to have the rig ready to go for at least one race in the October season. The rig is ready to go but I think I'll put my return to racing on hold for at least another week.

Combos for week 4, October 31st are as follows:

1. FORD MUSTANG GT PREMIUM FASTBACK 2015 on SS Tires @ Dragon Trail - Gardens - 10:00 Fine Weather - (9 Laps)
2. ASTON MARTIN VI2 VANTAGE GT3 2012 on RH Tires @ Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit - 08:00 Clear - (7 Laps)
3. RUF CTR3 2007 on RH Tires @ Circuit de Sainte-Croix - B II - 20:30 Clear - (7 Laps)

I pegged combo 2 for around 2:08. Unless a significant difference emerges from practice tomorrow, we'll go with 7 Laps

Maybe it is time to change course.....

I hear you. Wife might spot the spontaneous appearance of two more 55” monitors. But I’ve been hinting at a [new] PC. I doubt though that she’d notice the RSeat disappearance ipo a P1X. It’s just the risk of the shipment showing up on the wrong day
It's probably only Fair to tell you that part of the delay in me getting the no abs/h pattern series together has been a combination of my new racecar...and associated renewed interest in putting together a PC for iracing. I've been struggling to find anything else that can compare with the realism at a high level, and am getting burned out driving laps around by myself. In fact, the no abs/shifter series may very well be my last gasp here on GT.

I've got the series drilled down to just a few car options I need to publicly test, and then nail down the tracks. I completely understand and share the frustration with Sony, and add to that a small degree of disappointment in GT's slide from relevance. At this point, there is basically zero chance I don't have a PC setup for iracing in the next month or so. Mostly due to track selection for seat time. Whether or not it serves to fill all of my sim racing needs and wants in the future is yet to be seen. Who knows, I may end up just running laps by myself on there, too!

😎
I love the idea of a no ABS and shifter series, as you know. It may be difficult with everything you got going on but there are comrades out there that may help put the different pieces together to get the series off the ground. I, for example, used much of the series prep work of @llNovall to create the “no ABS challenge” that had a great inaugural season.
Your series could also work much more informally, I am just throwing ideas.
If I can help with spreadsheets, I’d sure do so. For my no ABS second season, I had much of the spreadsheets automated for example, success ballast increase and poor finish ballast reduction. Too bad interest wained.

From what i am seeing so far with GT7 that the original tracks will be making a return so it will be fun racing back on Deep Forest and Trial Mountain, Apricot hill.
They are getting there. High Speed Ring is also confirmed to be coming back. Would still like to see Grand Valley, SSR 5 and 11, and Seattle for starters. Real world tracks that I would like to see come back are Indianapolis, Motegi, and Silverstone off the top of my head.

Time to dust off the wheel.....? It's bin a while

Got a PC racing series going? I just dropped the PS+ account to launch an AC server and get an iRacing sub. So No GTS for this guy. Never upgraded my wheel either, still running the G27, so that's another no go.
I do run a series very similar to the SNAIL format with a group of friends. We ran on pCars2 last season, this time we are going to use AC though. We are working through the fine details now.
How have things been going for SNAIL? I see quite a few old names still active. Definitely made me happy to get back on the forum in well over a year and see this group still kicking.

@JLBowler D2 had 4 drivers last night, we started with 4 during the first race and then it was just myself and @CANOWORMS1 from 2nd combo and rest of night so wondering if it will still be 2 divisions for November until GT7 arrives or it will go to all one division since there has been around 8 in D1 and anywhere between 2 to 4 in D2 for the past 2 weeks. I was just thinking of it last night when D2 went from 4 drivers to 2 for rest of night. I don't mind the 2 divisions, it is enjoyable, just wondering since the division numbers have been reduced before when less drivers were driving.

There were 29 unique drivers during the October season. Can you fit 29 drivers in one room? The answer is no so there will still be two divisions. The math for determining the number of division for a given season is simple.

Number of unique drivers that raced in the previous season divided by 16. Take that result and have enough divisions to cover if everyone showed up on the same night. In this case it would be 29 / 16 = 1.81 which means two rooms are need to cover.

You have to remember that there were 19, 23, and 15 drivers between the two divisions for the first three weeks of October. It's not unexpected to see a drop in numbers on Halloween just as it's not unexpected to see a drop in numbers on or around any other holiday.

Division 1
  1. Timlour ----------- voted to eliminate Round 2 - 95 (131.27 for Prize A) SEE NOTE BELOW
  2. gatordaryl -------- voted to eliminate Round 3 - 92 (127.13 for Prize C)
  3. Nic-KL ------------ voted to eliminate Round 3
  4. no1needs2perish --- voted to eliminate Round 1
  5. Kgffty ------------ voted to eliminate Round 3
  6. NooTiMe72 --------- did not submit a vote
  7. MikeGrove --------- did not submit a vote
  8. Rauljimenez76 ----- did not submit a vote
Division 2
  1. Canoworms1 -------- voted to eliminate Round 3 - 94 (58.11 for Prize B)
  2. RacingChamp30 ----- voted to eliminate Round 2
  3. EvoSpec10 --------- did not submit a vote
  4. wetcoastsailor ---- did not submit a vote
The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 3 - RUF CTR3 2007 (RH) at Circuit de Sainte-Croix - B II - 20:30 Clear (7 laps)
Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since @Timlour wins Prize A, he gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.
PLEASE NOTE: Since @Timlour has already won Prize A this season, he is ineligible to win it again until next season. This means that unless he loses Prize A due to incident reviews, any driver who competed in Division 1 on Sunday night will have the opportunity to suggest an entirely new car and track combo. I recommend that all D1 drivers from Sunday night start TESTING combos they would like to suggest. That way, you will be ready to post a good combo when @JLBowler gives the "all clear". It's important to mention that a good combo will not have a car that hits its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in a draft). Also, please be sure to only suggest one combo. Any driver who suggests more than one combo will automatically be ineligible to suggest any combos at all. Please don't let that happen to you. Only suggest ONE combo (but not until @Timlour is confirmed as the Prize A winner).

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 2 - ASTON MARTIN VI2 VANTAGE GT3 2012 (RH) at Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit - 08:00 Clear (7 laps)
This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since @CANOWORMS1 gets Prize B, he has the option to freeze the car or the track, or he can give that option to the Prize C winner. If he gives the freeze away, then he gets to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @gatordaryl so he gets whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it has been confirmed that you don't have any penalties. It's also recommended that you review the SNAIL combo history and other data on our car and track history so that you can get an idea how many times we've raced each car and track. Please remember that originality is always appreciated, so picking cars and/or tracks that we've never raced is a plus (but not required). What's more important is that you thoroughly test any combo that you are considering before making it your official selection. For example, any car you select must not hit its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in a draft).

IMPORTANT: When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting. For example, if you want to choose the Integra Type R as your car selection, post "Honda Integra Type R (DC2) '98". If you want to select Monza for your track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza". Being specific helps us to update the lineup accurately and also helps avoid any confusion among the drivers. Also, please be sure to list the HP and Weight (LBS) of any car you select. For track selections, include the time of day (e.g: 09:00 Clear) or else it will be left to default.

@Timlour @gatordaryl @CANOWORMS1 will be included in a conversation which will contain instructions and deadlines as well as sorting out any other repeat winners. Prize A's selection process is started below.

We have a duplicate prize winner this week.

If you raced in D1 this week, you get to make a suggestion for Prize A and then @Timlour will make his choice from those suggestions.
  • Your suggestion must be made by posting in this thread.
  • You may not edit your post to change your suggestion.
  • Be sure to include the full in-game name of the car and track.
  • The deadline to make a suggestion will be Wednesday @ 6PM ET.
  • Remember that you are not voting for a suggestion that was already made. You are making your own suggestion.
  • Please do not include photos or other extra text in your suggestion as it just has to be deleted when the posts are grouped together.
SNAIL Approved Car and Track List
Full approved track list can be found here.

Prize winners are allowed to choose the time of day for their track selection. If a specific time of day is not selected then the default time of day will be used. (Note: The time of day settings differ between arcade and online modes in the game. Always check the lobby settings when selecting time of day.) In the event that a track is frozen, the time of day will also be frozen with the track.

Please remember that any car and track combo chosen must produce a mid-division lap time that is under 5 minutes. Also note that any selected track will be bound by the SNAIL lobby settings.

Also remember that any car chosen must not hit the rev limiter at any time, even in the draft.
