I wish that had worked. It looked like I got high enough to go over the wall, but the coding overruled that idea.

Nice push, Zer0.

Nice photos, Rally. I'm glad my RX-7 dressed up well in Touge. You never know about the standard cars.

Umm, yeah..that was my bad.. I thought we had found a nicely paved shortcut through all that grass so I was at full throttle.. I guess I "overlooked" the wall of tires..

I'm opening a room for S.N.A.I.L. Practice. This is not the endurance race scheduled for tonight.

To be honest, I also thought that I had found an overlooked shortcut. I was too close to the wall to turn, so I just went at it. It also doesn't look like much more than a line in the grass until you're right on it. Your ram was a (moderately unpleasant) surprise.

Don't worry. Your insurance should pick up the whiplash.

You do have insurance, right?

Edit: On closer inspection, it looks like your car really "dug in," there.

For those who still need some practice for sunday's race, join up, we will be running it for a few hours!
Help and Tips are handed out like candy at Halloween!
So don't be shy, stop on by!

Sorry I missed it last night. I was looking forward to it, but poker ran late Thursday night so I was already pretty tired. Then I started on a growler of Rogue Yellow Snow IPA and just never made it into the room. :)

I want to throw a shout out to zero for heading up such a great league. The great guys (and gals) that make up our group have a big part in it as well, especially the one's leading their own rooms on various nights. Throw in the guidance and organization that zero provides and it all seems to "gel" nicely. Thanks.

Also, with all the new blood joining in, I hear Div2 calling my name! My "real life" schedule is crowded right now so there isn't a lot of time left for racing. I let my Bob's break in the cars. If I'm lucky I'll catch a league night during the week to get a few laps in, but usually my first real seat time with the new combos comes Sunday night during qualifying. Of course, without practice, I can't expect to hang with the likes of bowler and diabolic (alien and cyborg, respectively). But that's the good thing about this league. I'll eventually fall out of Div1 and have a great time battling people in Div2.

TLDR:
Missed last night. Drinking.
Love you guys!
:)

I'm down. I was refered here by Miss-Devious.

If you can add me my PSN is ND_4_SPD_Naruto.

Glad to have you. I just tried sending your friend request, but you've reached the maximum number of PSN friends. Please send an invite to PSN ID: zer05ive if you're able to clean up your list a little bit and make room.

Btw, I love your GTP username. I was actually a big fan of the series. In fact, it had a little bit to with where I got my PSN username from. It's a nod to my favorite Gundam mobile suit of all time, which is Shenlong Gundam aka Altron Gundam aka Gundam Zero-Five.

Thanks for the shout out! More importantly, thanks for acknowledging our weekday coordinators. Rally, Dirty, doughboy, and diabolic have done an awesome job hosting while also coming up with fresh and creative way for us to compete and have fun. Kudos to them! 👍

I really like your approach on this. In fact, it's really the mentality that all snails should have regarding our unique Promotion and Relegation system. The ultimate goal of this system is to provide our members with the most competitive races possible, regardless of what division you're in. Everyone know that racing is the most fun and intense when you're competing with drivers of a similar skill level or commitment level. Who cares if you're relegated to a lower division because you don't have time to practice or just aren't as fast or experienced? If the result if better racing for all, then it's actually a good thing!

That being said, I'll be posting an important update later today about the structure of Sunday's divisions along with what everyone can expect in terms of the policy of who gets promoted and who gets relegated. (HINT: it won't be the usual bottom three in D1 get relegated while the top three in D2 get promoted).

Thanks spooble, and zero. I'm glad to have found the league, and able to contribute so new into Tue league. And now that I got you all hooked on C&m...:mischievous:

Last night was a goodie. Shame about Appmadock as well. The Madrid race was tense but the Deep Forest race left something to be desired. Even with boost, fresh tires and my cyborg skill, I couldnt break 1'22 from 8th position. Over the mics, I heard the Imprezas were able to clear 1'21 and under. There close, but the Lancer was overmatched there.

That being said, I'd pick it again. Gotta love a challenge!

I have to agree with you on that. 👍 :)

I have to admit, I'm curious to know what you have planned, and how it will all work.

Thanks all for the fun fri night racing. Good times indeed. I really like those enduros. I'm usually bummed when a 3 lap race ends no matter my position, so those 20 lapers were great.

Ill see whomever is on this evening. I met a good room host so if no snail, I may be in one of his rooms, so join that. By good, I just mean he isn't afraid to hit the eject button on people, no nonsense, and changes things up nicely.

Peace out.

I'll look for you later.

Word. I wanna get my shuffle fix later.

Machine, the S.N.A.I.L. calendar is wide open on Saturday nights so feel free to be the host if you'd like. It seems like there's plenty of interest from snails in racing tonight, including from me.

*IMPORTANT UPDATE*

As you guys have probably noticed, there have been an unusually high number of new recruits that have signed up for our league since our last races on February 26th. In fact, there have been so many new recruits that we simply don't have room for all of them to start in Division2 as is the normal process. If all the new recruits that have signed up in the last two weeks actually race on Sunday night, there simply wouldn't be enough room in Division2 for all of them (even when maxing out the lounge size to allow 16 participants).

In order to make more room in Division2, I'm going to increase the number of drivers in Division1 from 12 to 14 and will move two people who would typically be in Division2 over to Division1. I've thought about who those two people should be and have concluded that, for the sake of keeping the races as competitive as possible in both divisions, it will be sharkie and mopar. Anyone who's raced with them knows that they are fully deserving of D1 status. I know I said in an earlier post that I want all new members to start in Division2 and then work their way up to Division1 if they're good enough, but with the insane number of new recruits, we're going to have to make an exception. I would also like to point out that neither of them asked for this. They were both more than happy to start in D2 like everyone else.

In any case, this means that we'll potentially be running with 14 drivers in D1 and 16 drivers in D2. Of course, it's hard to predict that for sure but it's at least a possibility. You never know who's really serious about joining the league until they actually show up on Sunday night. However, if we do fill up both lounges, I'd ask that everyone please turn off their mics during the races in order to help reduce the possibility of lag issues. More importantly, having two full rooms of drivers would likely mean that we would split into three divisions the following week so that we can return to normal grid sizes and lag won't be as much of an issue. It's been no secret that I think three divisions is the ideal number of divisions for us to have, but I can't justify taking that step unless we're able to fill two full rooms full of drivers.

That being said, a split into three divisions would mean that our typical guidelines for Promotion & Relegation would go out the window this week. In order to divide the league into three equally populated divisions, it would mean that about a third of the D1 grid would be relegated to D2 and about half of the D2 grid would be relegated to the newly formed D3. I just wanted to make sure that everyone knows of this possibility going into Sunday night. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. As always, I encourage open and honest dialogue on this thread.

Zer0, I think having a lot of people to race with is a nice problem to have :)

With 3 divisions, Div 2 will always be transitory. Not a bad thing just a fact, people going down and up. To try and keep a somewhat more stable Div 2, what about changing the promotion/relegation numbers to two?

The interesting bit comes when you need to split into 3 divisions, 10 people each. The following was calculated based on 14 in Div 1 and 16 in Div 2.

Top 8 from Div 1 and top 2 from Div 2 to form Div 1.
Middle 4 from Div 2 and bottom 6 from Div 1 form Div 2.
Bottom 10 from Div 2 form Div 3.

Or some other crazy formula

Anyone up for some practice in an hour or so???

Actually, I was even thinking about changing the promotion/relegation number down to one eventually! That is, once we've had time to figure out who belongs in which division for the most part. I too like the idea of keeping divisions stable, and promoting and relegating three from each division (which means six new drivers in Division2 each week) would not be acceptable.

I like your formula! I'll use it as a basis when we split into three divisions (whether it's after this Sunday night or down the road). I should probably get you access to the Google Doc that we use to keep track of the points in each division. I may be looking for "separation" in points amongst the drivers in order to help determine how we split the divisions up and I could use your help analyzing the data.

I was just trying to keep the reward for div 2 intact. It does that. Might not be a completely fair way to split, but it keeps the spirit of doing well in div 2 alive.

I'd be more than happy to help crunching numbers and tossing ideas around.

Edit: I think relegating 2 would add a little 'flavour' to the action. Plus you're not singling one person out for relegation. And chances are you'll be rotating similar groups of people at either end of div 2.

Opening up my lounge. I'll be practicing for tomorrow but we can change things up if people join.

Hey Ap, looks like sharkie already has a practice room up if you or any other snail is interested:
