I won't leave over a custom track. However most likely would skip it though. If they showed up weekly. Yea I'd not have interest anymore. LoL

Nothing against anyone, it's strictly a personal choice.

Yeah, once every 6 or 8 weeks would be ok. Not every week.

Other question would be what kinda of testing and approval system would be needed for a track to be picked. Allowing any creation could be rather bad idea. LoL jump jump.

Track familiarity would be a huge benefit to its creator also. It would take several laps to even compete; thus time consuming. Just my 2 cents...

I know this is slightly off-topic, but if anyone here is interested in getting Project CARS before they close access, now is the time. As soon as they hit the fundraising goal, they close access.

If we did do it, we could put tracks that need to be approved on D2's account and put approved tracks on D1's account. I would say that a track would need to have been shared for at least a month before it can be used.

Not sure if you realize where this is happening, but this is a public forum. On public forums people throw out ideas and those who like the ideas comment on them and those who don't give their opinions also.

And Chiochan I don't think we made any contact the whole night. There was a bit of lag going on and I saw that a couple of times. I'm not referring to that.

Joe, you hit the bullseye!

I think i hit you a couple of times... Little lag, little driving the non tune on the edge... And bad race craft.... I was pissed the update messed up the Silvia...
It was a very nice car before the update....

Anyway nothing was intentional ... But that is no excuse. I always race cleanly and give plenty of room which sometimes gets abused (i was made sandwich on last race).

I will say that I saw a guy named Ridgeline or something that was driving like a maniac. Very uncool stuff. I didn't check the snail roster so I don't know if he races here but sheesh!

I think he just started last Sunday at D4!

Yeah, he was either super-laggy or on a broken controller. I watched him slam two people off the road.

I was just stating that I do not like to race custom tracks online. I have no problems with this league or anyone here, I REALLY enjoy it. But if it ventures into running custom tracks then I will no longer be a part of it. I can find another league just like I found this one. No threat, just a deal breaker for me.

Id have nothing against anyone if majority wanted and things went that way. For my decision is strictly a personal choice.

As I first hinted here, I have something in mind regarding custom tracks. Since now seems like a good time to elaborate, here goes..

What if we only allowed custom track during unofficial Sunday night races? And by "unofficial", I mean races that don't count towards the seasonal championship points. Last month, I laid out the projected S.N.A.I.L. schedule for 2013.

Any date you see in red means there are no official league races that night. Therefore, each of those dates would be an opportunity to race custom tracks while sill using the S.N.A.I.L. format. Thoughts?

I had insider insight on this decision. LoL Beings you are now a Member of the triple monitor club I knew the custom tracks wouldn't be seeing much light or was that us not seeing much from light from the sides. LoL

To those that do not know. Custom tracks only fill center monitor. Leaving outside two black with a gt logo.

Really wish we could upload the track on all three machines and have it work correctly. :(

One day. Maybe.

Edit:

If anyone is after a very nice left handed oval that is around 3/8 mile long. Flat and smooth radii.

I have it on my share. It's great for karts, drift, drift race, local small track style racing. Most everyone asks for it. So it's there to be had.

That sounds good. I'm down with that one.

EDIT: Yeah RidgeLine was very rough Tuesday night. He just needs to learn to temper the aggression a little and practice a little bit of patience. He's plenty fast, just needs a little grooming.

My opinion on that–
Why waste the time and effort to semi-institue custom tracks? Do it or don't. This isn't really any better than just ignoring them and letting the weekday event people run custom tracks if they so desire.

The fact that triple monitors don't work on custom tracks wasn't really a factor for me. I didn't like the idea of allowing custom tracks for the reasons stated here, but since it seemed like something that was desired by many, I figured we could give it a shot if that's what the masses wanted.

Come to find out, there are SNAILs just as strongly against custom tracks as there are for custom tracks. With that in mind, I've got to side with the "nays" because we aren't these guys. Simply put, nobody joined this league to race custom tracks. They joined for these reasons. Pulling what might be perceived as a "bait and switch" wouldn't be right.

Another important factor I considered is the quality of racing - or lack thereof. Custom tracks would likely result in more incidents. At the very least, the racing wouldn't be as close. Track familiarity by all of the drivers on the grid is a key ingredient to close, clean racing. With custom tracks, track familiarity would be decreased for most (if not all) drivers. 👎

Actually, we're not really instituting them at all. They'd only potentially be used during special events that don't count towards our official points championships. Just think of it as something "just for fun" to change things up. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Sure, we could just let the weekday events have all the fun with custom tracks, but what about those who want to run custom tracks using S.N.A.I.L. format? It might not result in the best racing, but I think it'd be a novelty that would be entertaining to many.

As for wasting the time and effort, it doesn't take much of either as long as they'd only be used on for unofficial races. That's because we wouldn't have to download the track onto each divisional account. Since there'd a lot fewer drivers racing during these nights (due to holidays etc), we'd only need to download the custom tracks to the D1 and/or D2 accounts. I don't think that would be too labor intensive.

Thanks to all who attended the custom track sessions. That was some great fun and great racing. I think we went through about 12 tracks varying from ovals, to gravel tracks with high speed sweepers, mountain passes with huge elevation changes, a 32 turn Tokyo bay circuit, just to example a few. We did it by having someone select a track they made, and give car suggestions(drive train, pp, class), then race a quick 5-8 min race after 1 or 2 warm up laps. If you want to try some custom tracks just go to community, click the picture of who you want the track from, if they have a track on share the course list icon in the lower left will light up. Now just click on it and select download. I have an interesting oval on share right now if anyone wants it.

I thought he was drunk.

Poor guy. Can't wait to hear his exc...errr reasoning.

Whoa... interesting perspective.

Race 1 I made a mistake and swerved into another driver when I had meant to look right to check his position... I was using the DS3 instead of my wheel. That was my fault.

Race 3 I was totally blindsided by Wolfsatz jumping into my driving line at the apex of turn 1. I refuse to accept fault for that.

Beyond those occurrences I don't think I even made contact with another car, but I'm not here to ruin the races for anyone.... I hope you guys will forgive my perceived mistakes, and I will recuse myself from any further participation in SNAIL events.

It was fun while it lasted. 👍

Hey Ridge ... all these guys are poking fun ... Relax!

From my perspective we were just racing hard and no bad intention was there...

nah one of the idiot cashiers went out of a cigarette on the dock and left the door wide open, over night, big no no, but being as im the one responsible for those things, I got the shaft.

Hey Forcednduckshn,

Thanks for joining S.N.A.I.L. 👍 And thanks for the compliment, we try very hard to be professional and fun :)

Please read the following:

We run a clean league by enforcing the S.N.A.I.L. OLR and we expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide.
Please become versed in both.

Follow These Steps:
1. I add you to the drivers list as a New S.N.A.I.L. (Done)
2. You run the Time Trial.
3. You Private Message my GTPlanet account with your time from the time trial (no Sunday racing until this is completed).
4. I assign you to the appropriate Division, to give you the best racing possible.
5. A PSN friend request will be sent from the appropriate SNAIL_Division1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 account. That is where you race on Sunday night.
6. You drive fast and clean on Sunday :)

The first post has all the rules and regulations for S.N.A.I.L. It is the first place you need to check if you have a question. If it's not answered there, feel free to post your question on the thread.

The second post has the current race lineup for Sunday and is updated weekly.

If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, post your choices in this thread.
To avoid duplication, the currently claimed combinations can be found here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all S.N.A.I.L.s to join as many as possible.

Welcome aboard and enjoy :)

All set! Submitted TT lap to Kcheeb. 50/50 for Sunday. Will definitely try to make it and look forward to running with you guys over the winter months here.
