Time for DriftinAssassin to suggest his brilliant idea! 💡

I am planning a D1 Gran Prix/Formula Drift style drift competition for Monday February 11, 2013.

The event will probably be held in the D1 room.
Rules:
-Cars will be allowed up to 500 HP but it isnt required, this means that you can have a car at any PP range
-Cars have to be on Comfort Hard tires
-Have fun!

Regular S.N.A.I.L. rules will still apply so no running each other off track. Im open to any ideas that could help this be more fun and challenging to everyone who participates. Some possible tracks we may run are Tsukuba, Autumn Ring Mini, and the Clubman Stage. Any more track ideas are welcomed!

I have put my idea out there for consideration so I will stop here. Have fun my fellow S.N.A.I.L. family! 👍:gtpflag:

Mighty be a good idea to explain what exactly formula drift is for the uninitiated.

Thats probably a good idea. For those of you who dont know what Forumla Drift is, it is an American drift championship that takes place over the course of the year. Pro drivers and soon to become pro drivers compete against each other in a heated competition. It all starts in Long Beach, California and ends in Vegas. If this doesnt help out then check out some videos on Youtube.

Alright folks. Hers what he's getting at. D1 and formula drift ate drifting competitions. They are ran in what its called tandem, meaning that 2 cars ate on track competing against the other. On car starts in the lead, one follows. The lead drifter wants to drift (in a controlled manner of course) with as much speed and angle as they can, and get as close to the clipping cone as possible. The following drifter wants the get as close to the lead drifter add the can, and try the match or better the leaders drift. Typically you will have two runs, with the leader becoming the follower on the second run. That is unless one of the cars losers control, hits their opponent, the leader pulls a huge lead or the follower passes the leader. a winner is decided by a panel of peers after the second race, much like an Olympic performance. If it's to close to call, then one more round will be in order. I'll let DA cover the rest of the details.

Depending on if you want to run whole laps or just sections of tracks forward and backward high speed ring has a good section and trial mountain is nice

The idea I have is to run two full laps with two drivers competing. The first lap is in the leader-chaser style and in the second lap the chaser becomes the leader.

I would actually suggest a custom track, or something very short. Suzuka east? Or is it west. Anyway, i think for tandem events, this track would work awesome. You've got the straight, then a long right sweeper for the first drift, then some nice, corners to transition through before getting back out on the straight.

Could I join the D1 comp ?
JustDrift893, The D1 lobby is reserved as a place where S.N.A.I.L. members race and practice. To have access you would have to be a S.N.A.I.L. While we do not have any official drift events we are always looking for Clean Racers to join.

Perhaps it might be an idea for DriftinAssasin to do this in an open lobby and try to recruit some new members for the S.N.A.I.L. Drift Team:idea:

Love this idea joby.
STATUS UPDATE: The drift competition I have in mind will now be held in an open lobby! I will post the room number about 10 minutes before the event is set to begin. I plan to start this around normal S.N.A.I.L. Time

Nic popped in with me and we had a two lap blast around Nords in that old Alfa....same track specs that Owen's used. Nice car, but I still suck at that track

I've got a 2010 coupon I'll flip you. Can you send me a FR from the D1 account? (while you're at it, the D2 account too?) to my GTP_pyxen account pls.

Added you to D1, but you were already on D2. ;)

Am I reading correct that you can practice/race in D1 and D2 rooms even if you didn't qualify for that division? (Obviously not for league though) If that is so it would be cool to be able to practice with other drivers and "pick their brains" as my 84 year old father says. Could be a good way for me to learn. If this is possible could I get an FR for these rooms?

Thanks

Added you to both. 👍

Anyone have a low mile (preferably 0 miles) Audi S3 '02 they would be willing to trade?
