Durn!

To think that you could have had a $10 gift certificate if you had only cancelled that Florida trip.

Hey Hogster, it would definitely be best that he join GT Planet as soon as possible. It's the best way to keep up to speed with our ever evolving group :D

Zer0 will be sending him a friend request from the SNAIL_Divsion3 account and I'll add him to the official driver list. He'll then need to follow the remaining steps in the How To Join Us section of the OP.

Thanks for recruiting :)

Thanks. I'll let him know to be on the lookout for the friend request (and about the phone app too).

Yes, thanks for recruiting. I've sent your friend "jellis1" a friend request from not just the Division3 account, but the other two divisional accounts as well. I am going to start doing that with all new members because I'm no longer sending them an invite from my own (zer05ive) account. Therefore my zer05ive account will no longer be a "universal" lounge that all league members have access to. All league activities will take place in one of the three divisional lounges per this update.

*To any league member who wants to participate in activities in any of the divisional lounges that they don't currently have access to, please send a friend request to the divisional account that you want access to. Again, the types of events in each of the divisional lounges can be found here*

Speaking of which, can I get a Div 1 and Div 2 invite, Zer0?

Please do me a huge favor and just send a friend request to the accounts you want to add. The choices are:

SNAIL_Division1
SNAIL_Division2
SNAIL_Division3

It'll make my life a lot easier if I can just accept a multiple friend requests sent to those accounts rather than fielding a bunch of individual requests for me to add people. Again, click here for a description of what kind of racing will take place in each lounge. Thanks in advance!

Thank you Zer05ive and all of the fellow S.N.A.I.L.s. I know I haven't been so active here in the thread recently, but it sometimes becomes hard to keep up with a few pages being added everyday. I didn't initially realize that it's been so long since the league came to GTPlanet. Before joining the ranks here, I never raced online a whole lot because I would always find that everyone else was much faster; and obviously better than me a tuning which I have no prior experience with. When I saw this league pop up I was really excited to find a group that kept the cars more evenly matched.

Since joining I have found myself becoming an increasingly better driver(even though I still make a few occasional mistakes, but are there really any drivers that can race perfectly online?), and with the change to a non-tuning league, being able to place better than ever before. While some nights I might not have been as good as others(such as last Sunday), I still enjoy being able to race with a great group of fair and increasingly fast racers.

I am also really glad to see how much the league has expanded since starting way back in December. Going from just a few of us the first night, to now being an ever increasingly larger group with three divisions racing every Sunday night. I have come across many great racers and have had many battles over these past 10 nights of racing. I really wish my schedule would allow me to race during the week, but only Sunday, and hopefully Saturday starting this weekend.

Looking forward, I hope that I will continue to be able to race every Sunday, so long as the league would not be canceled due to an event going on outside of GT5 or in the case of the maintenance like the other week. I also have a suggestion that I've been thinking about, but haven't brought up until now. Perhaps when choosing cars for future races, some thought might be given to the standard cars available in the Online dealership(that way everyone would be able to purchase them).

In closing, I would like to once again thank Zer05ive and all of the fellow S.N.A.I.L.s I have met and been able to race with these past weeks. I am certainly looking forward to racing with this league as long as I possibly can through the life of GT5, and into the future with GT6(assuming that we will someday make the transition, though I would imagine that will be quite a few years until that happens:)) I would also like to extend my services for any help that is needed in which ever division I may be racing in each week. I may not be able to do a whole lot before the start of the races on Sunday, but I will help as much as needed during the races, and I will stay up and help if anything is needed after the races. I will be looking at purchasing a headset to better communicate on race nights. Once again thanks everyone for making this such a great experience!

Zer05ive, you really surprised me with the $10 PSN Card, when you said about giving me something Sunday night I was honestly thinking it would just be another car for my massive garage. Hopefully we'll get some more dlc soon to put the money towards! Thank you so much!

No problem. I figured that might be easier for you but since I wasn't in front of the PS3...

The requests will be up in a minute, but get to them when you have the time.

A midday tuning room could be a hard sell to employed folks from a spec, tuning prohibited group. 💡

I was sold, except, I dont think I can sell it to my professor. Shes a tough one, and probably wont let me out to go play.

Last night was hilarious with my mini cooper, you guys were hating on me! Cyborgs and aliens, what can you do! Lol I had no idea btw about the 300pp thing for the snail car. Just hopped in and someone told me to pick a slow car lol

I'm practicing in SNAIL rm 1

tez and I are in here too. If anybody else wants to practice with other league members or participate in practice races, go ahead and send a friend request to SNAIL_Division1 so that you can have access to this lounge at any time. Don't wait until the last minute because you'll likely end up wanting to get in here one day, but won't be able to join if I'm away from my PS3 and can't accept your friend request right away..

A question regarding racing ethics:

If someone looses control in front of you, and you make contact with them as a result, thus putting them off the track, who is at fault? The driver who looses control originally, or you for not being able to avoid them? On sunday in the second Autumn Ring race, whatbadgerseat got sideways imediately in front of me, and I was unable to avoid him, putting him in the grass. As such, I waited for him to reclaim the position and thus pretty much forfieted the race and my chance at an overall podium finish. In that case, since he was already out of control and the contact was purely incidental, would I have been penalized for driving off?

I would say if you made contact with someone who was already sideways in front of you then you would not be obligated to give the spot back. It's not like you were side by side and he went spinning away and you just drove off.

Ummmm, that's how I've dealt with that situation, the few times it's happened :guilty:

I've seen and been involved in the opposite situation. Someone loses control, someone else makes contact, because of the loss of control. The out of control person gets straightened out and they both continue on.

I'm with Bowler on that one. I've had this happen to me, too. When someone loses control in front of you and you are following your racing line anticipating that they continue to keep pace as they have been, there is no time nor way for you to expect to dodge them when they suddenly slow and swerve. As long as you do what you can to not further the accident you are doing your best, and should not be held responsible for anything that happens to the already out-of-control car.

Good question.

I think it is a matter of avoidable contact or not. If you hit them because of something you did and it was avoidable, then give the spot back. If it was unavoidable and not your fault, then keep on moving.

That's the way I've understood it and dealt with it

I was one that got sideways at Autumn Ring. The contact was after I lost control so it didn't bother me.

I've sent my requests to SNDiv_1 and _2, so poss Wed I can do something there, as I'm mostly off this eve for family stuff.

I did 2 laps in the NSX in the _3 lounge (and saved the 'race') yet I'm at wits end on what I'm doing wrong - I figure it's some combination that begins with decellerating too early or late, too much or not enough, then leading to over or under steering, then over or under correcting, then goosing the throttle too much... or not enough, and when I begin to spin like a gold medalist in skating, I'm probably doing something else.

That, or the paint scheme on the car is just wrong.... yeah.... THAT's the ticket, it's the paint!

I look forward to trying to make a practice, but I feel for whomever pulls the short straw on my skills.

On the upside, I did some competitive shooting for awhile, and when I realized this is no different - pick a subskill to improve upon this session, and mostly likely the one that is hurting the most, or the track/car best suits learning - and make an improvement that you find satisfying, and one you can keep.

Next week, improve a new thing, and eventually, you're better.

Not sure I can get worse. :sly:

I'm "down" to 6:48 on 2 laps on Cape Ring in the NSX. Somewhat non-seriously, I have some concern of how I should drive, who I give way to, and how, when the leaders may lap me in D3 this week... :nervous:

A big sorry to sharkie and Naruto for my sudden leave. The misses came home and lets just say I was supposed to be doing something other than playing the game which I "forgot" about. :sly:

My top time for the NSX was 1:58.420, which was lap 3 of the first 4 lapper. I ran 3:03, 1:59, 1:58, 3:01. With the two practice laps, those were my first 6 laps with the car. With a little practice, perhaps 10 laps, I can see another half second coming off pretty easily during the qualifier, but a second+ for the race if I'm trailing.
