Yes, I would prefer a specific color, as it will help to make sure no one is over lapping. Espeically since you and cmbeal are running the same colors. Beal, do you have a certain color red you use?
Maybe not today, but tomorrow at the latest I will rehash the paint chip cycler system again, and how I would like to run it in conjunction with the color chart.

Does Nero cars with Rossocorsa wheels conflict with anyone? If not i would like to use that as an alternative.

Official colors:

Body: Pathfinder Blue Pearl (TVR)
Feet: Hugger Orange (But has somehow, out of pure laziness, it has morphed int whatever red I had lying around but will keep Hugger)

Body: Whatever color of black the car comes in. Or, whatever black chip I have most of if it doesn't come in black (all cars should come in black.)

Wheels: Lightning Red. I have bought and then sold at least 50 WRXs to farm this one. Every time, it's like "W00t!" followed immediately by "awwwwww."

Ok guys, got you all set. Al, you do know that you totally flopped colors right? though, Rossocorsa is a pretty solid red, and may conflict with CMbeal.

I love GT5, yet I do not enjoy my lack of driving skill, and more depressing, my sense of not learning or improving in a year plus. Many have helped, but the help does not seem to 'stick' and help me as much as I hoped in the future.
Handle I can relate fella. I can go from an absolutely stellar race one race, to 5 seconds behind the entire group the next race. It can be very frustrating, but then I have a race like I did last night with DJones. Thats when I know that while I will never be a high paid race car driver like I've always dreamed, I can still remember why racing is a passion that I won't stop doing. hot lapping is boring, but it's a small price to pay for the few great races I've been a part of!
I would like to add that if it weren't for this league and all of you guys in it, I wouldn't be saying that. GT5 would be sitting in a box collecting dust while I played other games because, outside of this league, online racing is garbage, and wasn't something I could really get into.
 
That was on purpose rally. I'll go with the Nero car and Rossocorsa wheels to not conflict with beal. The chart does not show anyone having a black car in D4.

Modern Race Cars performance is increasingly dependent on the continuous and rapid collection, interpretation and analysis of very large amounts of data. Car racing today is about outperforming your competitors on very small details. Chassis and engines are similar and 1/100 and 1/1000 of seconds are chased in the detailed tuning of tire pressures, angles, suspension and aerodynamic details. When you mention data acquisition, many racers' eyes glaze over and they instantly make the assumption that you are talking about racks of computers and very complex on-board dataloggers, armies of engineers, computer technicians, miles of cables and wires, and other complicated equipment. I would agree with them if we were talking about rocket science, but we are not-we are talking about race cars.

Not my words. Something I found on stockcarracing.com It was a good intro to something that needs more P.R. I am not sure how many of our member are aware of just how much behind the scenes work that goes into running a league like this. I have always been aware of the more noticeable day to day operations. League night, Practice Wednesdays, the Results Post, the Stewards Update. We have all paced around the room, constantly hitting refresh, waiting for the next weeks lineup to be official.

Over the past few weeks, I have made some amazing discoveries. As the Division 4 Data Specialist, I have had the the rare chance to see the inner workings of the S.N.A.I.L. machine. To put it in words we can all relate to: What we see is the shape. The smooth flowing lines. Flawless paint and finish. We are vaguely aware of the sheer horsepower but know it is there. Very few have actually lifted the hood to see what makes it all come to life.

Back to the intro. While some of what it states, doesn't exactly apply to SNAIL since we don't tune and telemetry values are irrelevant, it is still a numbers game. There is a document that is just labelled: S.N.A.I.L. Results. The depth of information covered in this "document" is staggering. I have it open on a regular basis and there is still new information that I am just finding. Some of what can be found are the weekly race results. Some of the many things that are logged are, where you started and where you finished in every race. Your fast lap time for each race and gap times for all finishes. Some divisions are even recording pole position times and who earned them. (hint hint!) Are you interested in where your lap times stand with the other divisions? THIS is where you can find it.

Again, this isn't even close to the surface. The idea of The Pit Board is to bring about the awareness of said document for two reasons. First, the information and data contained in this document has the very real potential to help improve your lap times and several other aspects of your driving. When I say YOUR driving, I really mean Y-O-U-R driving. The League keeps extensive race data on every single driver. This leads to my second reason. The tremendous level of commitment it takes from a [very] small group of SNAILs. Once you have the chance to look over the page, you will see just how much work goes into putting it together. I guess my point today is to take advantage of all the information that is available for each driver but to also make sure all the hard work isn't being wasted.

It is my goal to preview a few parts of the Results page once a week to put some much needed light on all those who keep the records but also educate all of us on what it has to offer and how it can help us be better and faster racers. If you missed the RED LINKS leading to our SNAIL Results, I will list it below.


I think that is enough for this week. Next week I would like to start digging into some of the numbers and a few of the other unique info that we have available to us like The Driver Count Pivot and what it means. Thanks for putting up with me and see you all on Sunday.

Attention yet again SNAILmart shoppers!!!

I have now finished updating what will become the new color chart! Once I get my PVR back, I will also be adding exact paint chip colors to the chart!

As I have been going through this I have noticed there are a lot of people not active in snail that are on the list. So from this time forward anyone that has "fallen from the face of the earth" or is gone for more then a season will be removed from the list and loss their colors and number. If you request to be moved to the associate SNAIL list and wish to keep your colors, they will be saved for your return so long as you are mildly active. If you have no activity on the forum for a period of three season, at that time, you're colors/number will be relinquished.

I would also like to put out there that while we like to keep everyone colors as unique as we can, please do not hesitate to request a color. If someone is running the exact same color, or if the shades are so similar as that they appear the same, or very close, I may ask that you pick something in a different shade. This applies for only the body, feel free to pick any wheel color. As always, color and number priority goes to the driver with seniority.

It's a funny thing, this SNAIL community. Way back when I joined, page 30 something or so, it was just about 20 guys (and even a gal, though I still will not call her a goddess...) I joined because of an important part in the acronym, the I. It has evolved now into interactive, but it was originally intermediate. That was exactly how I felt about my racing ability. So I knew, if I joined, I would be in like company. I wasn't disappointed. Like everyone here, I hated open lobby racing. To be ran off the road two turns in, and then the next turn, and every turn after. I gave up after maybe my 10th time in a lobby and began to simply get my race fix in the seasonals and drift in the open lobbies. Funny, the "misfit" side of the auto world being the cleaner side in the gt5 community. Eventually I started looking for more, and I found GTplanet. I then started doing tuning comps, but of course, I'm barely intermediate at that, and so I started to look for a spec racing league. Wallah! There it was! S.N.A.I.L.! The name and premise was everything I was looking for. Then I had my first sunday - 3 races per round back then - and I was hooked. A whole race with barely a fender touched? I was shocked. I even managed to get into d1! Of course, there were only 2 divisions then. Now I look back and in just a short time to see how much this league has changed and evolved, it's astounding. S.N.A.I.L. is very in tune with its racers, which I think is its key to success. I feel this league is beyond being the premiere GTP league, but for sure the premiere Gran Turismo league. Where other leagues and series have come and gone, S.N.A.I.L. still continues to strive and grow. Anyone who has doubts about their racing ability, and feel they have not improved, I say this. Go out and find a "clean" shuffle room and see how you feel about your performance then. I still feel I'm only intermediate, but that's S.N.A.I.L. intermediate. Out there in the open lobbys, in the shuffle rooms, that makes me the S.N.A.I.L. Stig! And on that bomb shell, Good Night!

one good test would be to rerun the time trial. You might be surprised and find that you are faster.

I'm kinda working for that right now. I may never make it to highly paid, but I've got a good shot at at least being a paid driver. I think if I don't have any huge setbacks I've got a good shot at it.

Judging by my recent snail improvement things are going great so far! Lol
 
I am thinking about joining. This looks pretty cool and legit. But, the races are hosted @ 9:30 P.M. EST...how long does an average race usually take?

Rally, white body (i just choose a white, because I'm not a chick...white is white), and bright red wheels (I just pick a nice primary colour red, not pinkish, not dark red).

I don't have time to farm for colours, so just run what I brung.

I think I'm going to build a MDF structure around the frame to improve stability and I'm going to change the board the pedals are mounted to to a thicker piece of MDF. It needs to be a bit stiffer.

Nice setup dabneyd. I wish I had a place where I could make a permanent cockpit with a dedicated TV. I plan to have some means of connecting the seat to the wheel/ pedal assembly so at the end of racing I can sort of nest the 2 together so it doesn't take up as much space when not in use.

Here's my build so far. Got the base for the chair at about the right angle and the pedals mounted which was surprisingly more difficult than I thought. I included the pic above because I used 3/4" MDF and it's very stable. Hoping to make a big push today (as big a a 5 1/2yo "helper" will allow;)) and work out the final angles for the wheel and connecting the top and bottom sections.

Out of curiosity, Are we losing anyone from the series because the account was banned from online racing because of hybrids / hacked cars?

I will be surprised, but I was just wondering if there could be any.

I wonder how they are implementing this, if it is only accts that posted up the how-to vids, or actively traded these, or if it was simple data mining (how many cars in game are over 3,000 or 7,000 hp or more) of cars used online, if that is what they are worried about.

Thanks for your interest! We would love to have you in the series. Here's what you need to know and do in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the S.N.A.I.L. OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide.
Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You run the Time Trial. (NOTE: The tires selected for this have more grip than our current tire regulations allow, but please follow the directions exactly anyways).
2. You PM kcheeb with your time from the time trial (no Sunday racing until this is completed).
3. We assign you to the division that we feel will give you the closest competition.
4. We send you a you a PSN friend request from the corresponding SNAIL_Division1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 account. That PSN account's lounge is where you will race on Sunday night.
6. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

The original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.

Please note that we often race DLC from three add-on packs:

No one has posted saying that have been banned in the account ban thread, so it appears that there were very few bans made, and that no one in the GTP community was affected. Most people think that the only bans handed out were to the small group of people who were stupid enough to use their modded cars in the Seasonal Time trials.

Exo, great job on the first edition of "The Pit Board"!! The data that we collect in this league serves a very important purpose and can be a huge benefit to our members as well. 👍

On that note, I'd like to announce to everyone that Exo will be serving as the league's data coordinator from now on. I've added him to the league responsibilities post to made it official. :)
