D2R1R1 Recap
Last night was so action packed I've decided to break some of it up into segments this week. Combo 1 was a blast! Great job @JamCar0ne on you're selection of car and track.
Lap 1: By the second to last turn we were divided into two packs with @DublDee , @Oshawa-Joe , @racingchamp30 , @JamCar0ne , and @CANOWORMS1 in the front group.
Lap 3: With the lead group running as close as it was, when Dub got sideways and ran into the grass after turn 4, he fell back to 4th place while Joe took the lead. With grass still on his tires, he lost P4 to Canoworms soon after.
Still on Lap 3, final turn. @TexHill over corrects a slide and veers off track, allowing @Ropere to overtake P9 while @CdnSweetTee and @Mac1032763 are right behind me.
Lap 5: Canoworms and Racingchamp are close as well Tee and Mac. Everyone else has a little breathing room for the moment.
Lap 9: @CdnSweetTee lost it on the Dunlop corner and made use of the unused chicane. I was just talking to her and Dub earlier about how that part never gets used, lol. @Mac1032763 siezes the oppurtunity and moves up to P7.
@DublDee slides out in the final turn seconds later. @JamCar0ne , @racingchamp30 and @CANOWORMS1 are in close running order not far behind @Oshawa-Joe.
Lap 13: Jamcar, Champ and Canoworms are still very close, they're the only cars grouped up at this point.

@CANOWORMS1 Thank you, my first and probably my last, the stars need to be aligned for that to happen but I'm glad I got it once. I realised that it was achievable when I started the last race, as long as @Nicktune didn't get the fastest lap again but my luck struck.
With that said, here are the last photos from D1 of 2024.
That little car is so fun, you just need to let it slide a bit and use the liftoff oversteer to your advantage.

D2R1R2 Recap
This one was a doozie! We had alot of position changes and plenty of accidents. Several of which happened right in front of me adding a bit of excitement, to say the least.
Lap 1: Group shot. @TexHill made out pretty well in turn 1 with @Ropere in 2nd and @Mac1032763 in 3rd. Look at all the SNAIL banners in this shot!
I just wanted to focus in on @CdnSweetTee and @DublDee for a second to draw attention to the matching liveries. Looking sharp as always you two!
Tee got squirrely in turn 6 and ran off in the grass for a bit, causing her to fall back from 6th to 10th.
Lap 2: TexHill, still in the lead, gets a little loose in turn 1, allowing Ropere to gain some ground. Dub also slightly slides while battling widowmaker (@Mac1032763) for 3rd. Meanwhile I almost lost it completely and cut through the grass losing positions to @Oshawa-Joe and @JamCar0ne. Alot going on in one photo.
Later on in the second lap @Mac1032763 and @CANOWORMS1 make light contact at the beginning of the final turn. They both manage it well and no serious issues arise from it.
At the same moment in time @TexHill is getting loose and ends up bouncing off the invisible pit wall, slowing his speed down enough for Dub and Ropere to make a pass before the start/finish line.
@Mac1032763 loses control and hits the wall while trying to slow down for the action just in front of him. Racingchamp just missing him as he veers off.
Lap 3: Unfazed by any slowdowns, @CANOWORMS1 carried the most speed through the straight and battles for 1st with Dub and Ropere. Coming out of T1 he's now in 2nd. Not long after, @racingchamp30 makes his move for 3rd.
The final turn takes a few more victims at the end of lap 3 when @Ropere, @Oshawa-Joe, and @JamCar0ne make contact causing the latter two to spin off to either side of the race line. Tex, Tee and myself zoom in between, unscathed.
Lap 4: Racingchamp and Canoworms are battling for 2nd. Ropere, Tex, Tee and I are in close range of each other. Jamcar and Joe are battling for 9th.
Lap 5: Tee and Tex make contact while battling for P5. I slip on by, going from 7th to 5th.
Lap 7: Early in the lap I try to make a pass on Ropere but it doesn't stick. However, at the end of the lap he counter steers a bit too much leaving an opening for me to take position 4. Joe was hot on the tail of Mac and Champ was right behind Canoworms.
Lap 8: Joe passes Mac for P6, he's on a mission for the podium!
Lap 9: At the front of the pack, Dub goes wide on T4, touches grass and gets sideways a bit. Coming into the Dunlop turn too shallow, he slows more than Canoworms can react in time for and gets rear ended, causing a spin. Racingchamp scoots on by on the outside, taking first place. Canoworms, being a great example of sportsmanship, gets in the grass giving on track concession to Dub. Unfortunately he spends too long out of bounds (barely), and instead of 3rd, he gets reset on the track. All the way back to 8th! Ouch.
Lap 10: Thought I was seeing double in the mirror when I looked up and saw Joe and Ropere battling for 4th. Widowmaker and Jamcar are close behind them.
Lap 11: Widowmaker lost traction for a moment on the Dunlop corner and recovers quickly but not before losing his position to JamCarOne.
Lap 12: Ropere just barely touches the grass exiting T1, but that's enough for Jamcar to make another move in T4 for 5th place.
After over a lap of pressure from Joe, I run wide on the final turn and he moves up to 3rd place.
Lap 13: The race is almost over and Ropere, Mac, and Canoworms are battling hard still. Only one turn left at this point.
Up front, Racingchamp is first to cross the finish line with no one in sight! Dub would cross the line second, followed by Joe in third.
The closest finish went to Ropere, Mac, and Canoworms. Less than half a car length separated Mac and Can!
What an awesome race! I hope to have some coverage up for combos 2 and 3 sometime soon. I'll try to make 'em shorter, lol.

The LED strip was a gift from a grandson several years ago and until I added one of the new mods for the Wheelstand, was attached under the edge of my desk. Almost tossed it in the trash but thought "What the hell, I can have footwell lighting."

This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. @Mac1032763 is the Prize B winner and they have the option to freeze the car or the track, or they can give that option to the Prize C winner. If they give the freeze away, they get to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.
Prize C goes to @hurbinator - they get whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.
Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it has been confirmed that you don't have any penalties. It's also recommended you review the SNAIL combo history and other data on our car and track history, so you can get an idea how many times we've raced each car and track. Please remember, originality is always appreciated, picking cars and tracks we've never raced is a plus (but not required). What's more important is, you thoroughly test any combo you are considering, before making it your official selection. For example, any car you select must not hit its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in the draft).
IMPORTANT: When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting. For example, if you want to choose the Integra Type R as your car selection, post "Honda Integra Type R (DC2) '98". If you want to select Monza for your track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza". Being specific helps us to update the lineup accurately and also helps avoid any confusion among the drivers. Also, please be sure to list the HP and Weight (LBS) of any car you select. For track selections, include the Preset Weather and the Time of the Day (e.g: S01 Afternoon) or else it will be left to default. Available settings can be found under Time/Weather Settings, when creating an online Lobby, after selecting your track.

I've got a few busy days ahead of me, I'm sure we all do. I acknowledge winning Prize A (I think for the first time...) and I'll try to get a selection out in the next few days, along with my weekly column.

Here's my view through the viewfinder. It's been awhile, but here goes.
Great race photos @radliffracing and @Worst_Driver. While I was watching the replays of round 1 I was struck by how the cars lined up, lap 3, T1 of R1R2. Radliff also caught the action. While rad focused on round one, I only focused only on that moment.
Lap 3 and the leaders are maintaining a pretty good echelon formation. And all 10 are in frame.

Grand Valley is a scenic masterpiece. The East Reverse version is the probably the least known to me. The first day I got my wheel (about 9 weeks ago), I hopped onto GT7, went to the weekly challenges, chose the classic Porsche cup and was appalled at how badly I did here coming out of the first tunnel. Turns out it's still not easy, and I'm not the only one who struggles.
Lap 1: @DublDee is the first to fall victim to turn 2, the left hander at the exit of 'Tracy Cove Tunnel'. He came out with a little too much speed, fishtailed, and off into the dirt he went, just missing @Oshawa-Joe on the way. Joe and @JamCar0ne are drifting a bit but maintain control. @racingchamp30 emerges in front as we head into turn 3.
Racingchamp exceeds his grip limit and runs wide exiting T3. I follow suit, barely managing not to hit him, and ultimately end up sliding across to the gaurdrail on the other side of the road. @Mac1032763 whiskers by just before I cross his path. @CdnSweetTee also runs wide, but manages to keep it together. With cars, dirt and hay bails flying everywhere @CANOWORMS1 can be seen exhibiting the reflexes of a cat, juking left to avoid me as I block the road. He also had to swerve to miss Dub just seconds before. Starting in 8th and advancing to 4th in the first half a lap ain't bad, Can.
Lap 2: "I fear nothing" says the cameraman with his back 10 feet from the cliff and a gaurdrail between him and an oncoming Dubldee hot out of the tunnel.
@Ropere ran wide and canoworms takes 3rd. That's jamcar to the left in second. Widowmaker 5th, Texhill 6th, and Tee in 7th to the right.
@TexHill got loose in the canyon and Tee capitalizes for 6th place. Joe's in 1st, Jamcarone 2nd, Canoworms 3rd, Ropere 4th, and Mac 5th. It's hard to see any of that from this scenic view up on the hill, however they're all in frame.
Lap 3: T2 again and this time Ropere over corrects a slide just in front of Mac. Mac swerves right, then left and gets out clean. Tee would recieve a tap on the passenger side but seems unfazed by it.
Same Lap, same place. @TexHill and his Grinch car lost control in turn 1 and ended up right by the sign that informed me of the name of this treacherous tunnel. Having good awareness and sportsmanship, he stays put so myself and Racingchamp can get by without incident. We'll be battling for 7th the remainder of this Lap, while Mac and Tee begin their long battle for 4th.
Lap 4: Dub's view coming out of Tracy Cove Tunnel, looks like that SNAIL banner is doing a great job of blocking the blinding sun. Tex had lost it again and Dub makes a clean pass for 9th.
Lap 5: Champ overtakes Ropere at 'Vista Point'. Me and Dub aren't far behind.
This is way off topic, but I found it pretty cool. Who knew there were so many elephant seals down at the bottom of the cliff near Vista Point?
Tex makes a pit stop. I can only guess, but I think he wanted fresh sand free tires. Or a drink from the restaurant located behind pit lane.
Lap 6: Dub's fast! He's passing me as we enter the tunnel and most likely was about to pass Ropere until...
...I lose control in T1, T-bone him, he gets squirrely and hits Ropere before also losing control. Ropere survives and I make sure to wait for Dub since it was definitely my fault he crashed.
Lap 7: Mac and Tee have been battling for 4 laps at this point, with multiple position changes and constant pressure. Tee finally makes a mistake, slightly running wide, and with dirt on her tires slides across the track. In a display of great racing etiquette, she holds her position until Racingchamp, Ropere, Dub, and I all get by.
Lap 8: Champ is battling Mac for 4th, while Dub is challenging Ropere. Both would get their overtaking done before the lap is over.
Lap 9: Tracy Cove Tunnel claims it's final victim for the race when Ropere skids out of control allowing me to claim P7.
Vista Point isn't finished either as Mac grazes the left shoulder, veers across to the gaurdrail and spins around backwards. This opens the door for Dub to take 5th, I take 6th and Ropere 7th.
Lap 12: Congratulations to @Oshawa-Joe for an awesome race, taking the lead in turn 3 of lap 1 and running away with it. @JamCar0ne will come out clean with P2 and @CANOWORMS1 with no major mistakes for P3.

Lap 8: Champ is battling Mac for 4th, while Dub is challenging Ropere. Both would get their overtaking done before the lap is over.
