Niagara's Weekly "What I Saw" Column
20250216 Edition
It feels like I haven't re-caped a Sunday in forever. I felt that I struggled after having been away for about a month but the decent grid size of 12 drivers made it so much fun. And with another 12 drivers showing up in D2, maybe our Snail group has a little momentum going.
Nice to see some new Snails and a returning Snail on the driver's list.
Combo #1:
I saw
@Worst_Driver get away with a quick start early on Lap 1 in C1R1.
Willow Springs provides for some nice clear pictures and it seems you're able to get up pretty high up to get decent aerial shots. Here's our group of 12 snaking our way through the bends.
I know these cones are technically out of bounds and I pondered reporting myself as I'm guilty of taking a few of them out. But none of the occurrences resulted in any advantages gained. Sometimes not only taking them out but sending them airborne.
In C1R2,
@Worst_Driver and
@Nicktune were running 1st and 2nd by a wide margin. But the battle for 3rd place seemed pretty intense between returning Snail
@ErickGaToRR ,
@Oshawa-Joe ,
@Kgffy and
@bublyman .
Combo #2:
I'm sorry to see this car go as I enjoyed it despite the very limited success I had with it.
@Worst_Driver again is leading the field with
@bublyman ,
@Nicktune ,
@ErickGaToRR ,
@Kgffy and
@Dragonwhisky rounding up the top 6 on Lap 2 of 15 in C2R1.
In addition to myself, I think
@DublDee has also been away for a few weeks and might have also struggled. He ended his night early by heading into the pits on Lap 5 of 15.
I try not to highlight things that have resulted in incident reports or struggles that we might have out on the track but by now you might know that certain things will get you some coverage in my write-ups. Things like being involved in yellow/blue flags, breaking cones or advertisement boards or heading into the pits will likely get you airtime.
Seems I missed my typical group shot for Combo #2 this week.
Combo #3:
I believe this is
@Nicktune leading the grid through turn #1 of C3R1.
I dressed up my Subaru in my secondary colors and sponsor of Forty Creek Whisky for Combo 3. It seems I spent most of these two races with
@Dragonwhisky and
@Villy31 .
On Lap 7 of 7 in C3R1,
@Worst_Driver ,
@ErickGaToRR and
@Nicktune were all still in contention for the win.
The battle in mid-grid of C3R2 was pretty tight. Pictured here on lap 3 is
@superb3113 running in 6th, leading
@Longball ,
@Oshawa-Joe ,
@Dragonwhisky , myself and
@Villy31 . The gap between these 5 cars is 1.5 seconds.
Again in C3R2, I saw myself go a little sideways at the righthander before the long straight. I managed to catch my car but lost some time to
@Villy31 and
@Dragonwhisky .
That's how I interpreted the races last Sunday. Good to be back.
See you at the Car-Show.
