Nürburgring GP track map curtesy or racingcircuits.info. I may have been able to find a better version with the English translations on another website, but I was acting fast this morning, not knowing whether or not I'd be called away to work. Still doing so actually. So, in the spirit of the authenticity and the essence of time, we'll be using the German names today.
Lap 1: The shadows are long as the sun sets on Nürburg, Germany.
@JamCar0ne sets the pace into turn 1, the Haug-Haken.
The caution flag would've come out early as
@cesarr64 and
@Gusmcnasty get into a tangle, I was spared by the automatic ghost feature as Gus is teleported away just as he begins to make contact to my rear quarter panel. Sadly, he is reset way behind the rest of the field.
@Mac1032763 and I in turn 2 keeping a safe distance.
@TexHill has moved up to second as we exit turns 1 and 2.
The gap between first and second is already beginning to open up and
@JamCar0ne's green and yellow colors are starting to get a little smaller.
@TexHill seems to have traded in his comedic liveries for a more serious style this week, reflecting his determination to win as well, I might add.
I was pleased with the results of this chrome color fade decal experiment, and the setting sun makes it look all the better. #85 as always.
@Mac1032763 brings an anime livery to the table again with some very aware eyes watching his blind spots.
This was my first error of the round was braking too late entering the NGK-Schikane. I threw the car off track at the last second to avoid pushing
@TexHill past his turn in. I know he would've done the same for me as I've seen it done in the past.
@racingchamp30 keeping it clean while going two wide through the chicane.
@arethosetacos with the Shell/Ray Ban livery and man I like those American Racing rims! Just like the ones I had on my '73 Maverick!
@CANOWORMS1, #27 Orlen car, is color coordinated in a red and white livery and racing suit as always.
@cesarr64 chose the same color scheme as I did, red and green, in the Castrol #71 car. I thought it was fitting due to the Alfa Romeo emblem and Italian flag colors.
When a car looks good it looks good in plain solid colors as well.
@Gusmcnasty with the red on black paint. I had a close up of
@JakeMk8 as well but must not have saved it. Not to worry there's another one coming up soon.
Lap 2:
@Mac1032763 is in third but
@racingchamp30 and
@arethosetacos aren't making it easy to breathe here in Sector 1.
@arethosetacos gets his man and takes 3rd place leaving turn 4, minding that white line on the exit.
@CANOWORMS1 looks to have snuck into 5th for a moment.
There's some contact made and
@Mac1032763 goes for a ride beyond the limits of Valvoline-Kurve.
@CANOWORMS1 takes precaution to give concession and they both move back a few spots to 7th and 8th.
Lap 3:
@arethosetacos has overtaken
@TexHill for 2nd as they come around T3.
@racingchamp30 in the #20 also manages to overtake in the Dunlop-Kehre.
Same curve just a few moments later and
@cesarr64 goes wide just like
@TexHill did before, only a little further this time. I move up to 5th place.
@JamCar0ne has the lead by a country mile, which goes well with the John Deere look.
The pylon, or bollard (new term to me), at NGK-Schikane took a lot of abuse in the Michelin Pilot Cup series race we had here as it was fair game. However, in the Sunday night series it is off limits and
@Mac1032763 demonstrates pushing it to the absolute limit here as he slides past, barely clearing.
Here's
@JakeMk8 and
@CANOWORMS1 as they trade places again and there'll be many times to follow until the end of the race.
Lap 6: We skip ahead to the last lap and find that
@arethosetacos and
@racingchamp30 have closed the gap on 1st place.
At the end of the lap now, we see that
@JamCar0ne prevails over the pressure to lead his contenders to victory.
