Hi everyone, NOOB alert!!! 2nd post.

Gonna try and help the Domestics out this time 'round. I've never been a huge 'Stang fan, I mean they've put out their share of fantastic cars over the years, don't get me wrong but they lost my interest in the 90's. ( I currently driving an Acura, hehe )

I've been playing GT4 for 2 weeks now and love it, have GT3 but took a long break to play Madden/online.
I still had no interest in the Mustang but then I saw a red '00 SVT Cobra R in the used lot.
Day 406 or so and on day 422 it's worth $7,162. lol

Anyways, I'm not gonna front, I used my b-spec driver at 'the ring' because I definitely, do not have the skills yet to run that track clean. From what I can tell in other posts, his #'s are low, so hopefully that will direct more credit toward the cars potential ?!

His stats: 6078 skill
79 machine
63 course
53 battle

- 616 hp N/A, on med. racing (R3) shoes.
- Stage 3 lightened, racing brakes but no controller.
- Over/understeer off
- TCS @ 5 (I know, I know) but 1st gear, 2.918, is as long as possible and it still spins, and chirps in 2nd. I adjusted a few other gears and left it on default 13, and default final, she tops at 200mph even. 1/4 mile-11.025, 1000m-19.595

Look forward to chatting with you all soon.

15...............'s (everything else seemed to be taken)

Eh no I can appreciate a good import like Skylines, Supras, and 3000GTs (only the VR-4 Turbos).
But Evos and Impreza's......
No respect since those morons like to line up with me at a stop light rev the motor, then attemp to beat me....
pathetic really....
And sad thing is I stomped them even when my car was stock! They could keep up untill about 70 sometimes 80 then thye was just a reflection.
And now that I got my cobra pushing 685 to the ground.....
well even my ex's new bf who has a Skyline GT-R has no chance. Spank his ass all over.....
Heck even my 68 GT Fastback can whoop his ass!
I don't hate imports I hate the morons who drive them and movies like 2F2F that make cars like Skylines look importal and make it seem the street racing scene is all imports. Sorry I see way more 5.0 stangs and built up camaros and other american cars than I do imports! Why? Cuz the domestics might cost alittle more but it takes less $$$ to upgrade our cars to 600+ hp.
Like me, I spend only $6000 to turn my 372 rwhp 04 Cobra to the 685 hp. Oh and that does include suspension mods! So I can go fast and outhandle those little crotch rockets. But a guy with an Evo, to get that thing to 685 hp.... only thing stock on that motor would be the block, everything else would have to be replaced.....
And again I don't hate imports, but the fact is, Skylines and Spras etc are not these godly cars these stupid fnf morons make them out to be. Like that supra beating the ferrari.... HAHAHA! Maby on a bad day if the dude in the ferrari couldn't drive!
It's just irritating. Plus lets face it folks drag racing is the most pure form of racing, just go! Who ever gets to the other side first wins. It's also the fastest motorsport around..... but then again it's not really a sport....
and nascar....
sorry driving in a circle is not a pro sport, it's parking lot fun..... 👍
Agreed.

Although I generally do not like to compromise my settings. You can get slightly better tire wear by reducing the front toe to 0 and the front camber to 2.2.

Anybody have massive wheelspin problems with their '05 GT's?? The dang thing spins the tires through 4th gear even when they're warmed up. Any way, settings wise, to combat this?

Oh...and Mustangs are sports coupes, pony cars, or muscle cars. Not sports cars. Sports cars are small, lightweight, two seat, and handle sharply and nimbly (Miata, Solstice, S2000, Z4, Boxster, etc). None of those things applies to Mustangs. I love them and can't wait to get a new GT convertible, but it'll never be a true sports car.

Here are your choices to combat wheelspin:

1 Put lots of ballast in the back. This may slow the car down.
2 Make the gears real tall. This may also slow the car down.
3 Put super soft tires in the back. Helps a little, but the tires wear out fast.
4 Soften up the rear springs and change the shock settings to tranfer weight. Not the best idea for a road racing car, unless you are building a dragster.
5 Put as much down force possible, front and rear. Done
6 Use a the TCS. I find this to be the best. TCS=1 is what I like, but TCS=4 eliminates most if not all wheelspin.

If anyone can think of more, feel free to contribute.

I dont remember, 1st 2nd and 3rd gear are long because the car spins the wheels in those gears. 5th and sixth begin to shorten.

I think I started out with auto setting 24.

Thanks, that helps! I have the most trouble tuning my gears, that will get me in the ballpark. Great setup! I am able to beat alot of cars out of the Stang's class. I am re-running the NA races in Pro hall and doing well with the setups you gave. I didn't do any HP upgrades but your suspension settings have her cutting corners very nicely. I am getting anywhere from 130 to 178-80 A-spec points with these races. THe only car that has given me any trouble was the Protosport Something-or-other.
Thanks again.

I was messing with the tranny and came up with this.

hmmm
me playing around on the ring, half asleep, not even pushing the car to it's full potential i pulled a 6.24:869

very very very basic settings

full tilt built {600+hp)

race suspension

springs
10/8

height
111/111

shocks
8/8
8/8

camber
3.3/2.4

toe
0/0

stab
5/6

downforce
30/30

r5 tires {i figure if im going to balls out. im going with the best}

gears
auto set to 22

tcs 2
asm 2/10

1.5 lsd

nothing fancy. some people think it takes a miracle to get cars to handle well.
not so much
i bet i can duplicate this time with r3's

My settings from page 1 except with stickier tires. Oh, and I'm very sleepy, it's midnight here. I'll post better times tmw, but 6:21 for now.

The reason I dont tune around super soft tires is because they tend to mask handling problems. You can feel real good on supersofts, then switch to medium and it may handle like junk, on the other hand, it usually doesnt happen the other way around.

Nurburing give a overall snapshot of a cars ability but it is also not a good place to test the fine points of a setup, horsepower and tires are too much of a factor, motorland is better for comparing suspension settings. I've broken into the 35.xxs before, but not tonight. 36.2 for now.

did a little experiment there jaber.
mixed your settings and mine

same spring rates
height set at 100 {for suspension to work it must move}

camber set at 3.4/2.3 {tire roll over compensation}

zero toe

stab
5/6 {makes turn in faster, plus adds a nice weight transfer to the wheel taking most of the grunt for more grip}

this is similar to the set up i run in my scca car

netted a time of 6.17 on the ring on r4's

take two good settings and make one better one!

Teehee. 6:15 seconds with my settings unchanged.
Forgot to take a picture, haha. No pics = no proof. :yuck:

spring 9.0 10.3
rideheight 86 86
bound 9 8
rebound 2 1
camber 2.5 1.0
toe -1 0
sway 1 3

downforce 30 30
tcs 1 (this limits wheelspin just the right amount)

Full custom diff
init 5
acc 27
dec 5

Auto gear 22
Race tires
Stage 3 weight reduction
brake upgrade
With 665 hp

Without the toe out, the car does not dart into turns under braking on motorland and other tight courses. There is plenty of suspension travel, there is no indication that the suspension is bottoming out. When one end of a suspension runs out of travel ,the spring rate goes to infinity, i dont feel the effects of that. Ive gotten plenty of heat for running my car very low sometimes. But all rideheight seems to do in this game is affect the speed and amount of weight transfer. More swaybar works well at high speed like Nur, but compromises low speed turning speed on motorland. With swaybars set too stiff, there is not enough weight transfer for low speed manuevers. Give motorland a try. I think you'll find that it is the best place to test suspension settings. And post pics of you times, just saying it means nothing. :sly:

Dunno if the mustang makes a good car for sports tires. Just doesnt generate enough grip to tune with.
