It's a useless feature. I'm never going to use it, and definitely won't if there's a chance it will delete my cars. There was no point adding this restriction.
I usually sell the cars I haven't used in a while anyhow, saves time on grinding, I don't hit the garage limit and the cars can always be re-purchased.
