1.17 update, broken steering g923 / SOLUTION /

Tried the solution as suggested by TumeK5 (restarting the console), which seemed to help a bit, but I wouldn't say it felt the same as pre-1.17. Something still feels off. I'm almost certain that the FFB is still weaker than before, and the wheel rotation is certainly not in sync with the wheel in the cockpit view, but I don't play in cockpit view, so I don't know if it was ever in sync before. I may do more testing tomorrow if I have the time.
well wheel rotation did a work for me ...before was off by many degrees...it is dead on now..but FF is off..I have always used 10 10 sensitivity and torque...
with this " solution " , I can at least compete

Do you a lot of clipping with those settings (noise)?

yes....but there wasn't too much noise before 1.17 ... now it's more noisy when I restart ps4
but if you have a Child...who needs to sleep afternoon, he will get use to it , like mine did🤣🤣🤣 wife is a biggest problem hahahaha

If I rotate my G923 up to 90 degrees or so, the wheel in the cockpit view would still seem to be in sync, but if I rotate it to 180 degrees, then it's clear that the wheel in the cockpit view is not turned 180 degrees (it's turned only to about 135 degrees or so).

did you try restart ps4 with plugged wheel??
it works great for me..Just FF is weird

Yes, but still the same as what I described above after the restart.

Incidentally, I booted up everything as I normally do today, and the steering felt okay. I had both the DualShock and the G923 plugged in. I used the DualShock to boot up the PS4 (from powered off state, not rest mode) as well as the game. The steering felt the same as pre-1.17 when driving, even though it was still not fully in sync with the wheel in the cockpit view when I turned more than 90 degrees.

The only difference I still noticed was that the FFB was definitely weaker than pre-1.17, specifically around the centering effect. To fix that, I increased the FFB Max Torque/Sensitivity by one notch (from 6/4 to 7/5), and that made everything feeling about the same as pre-1.17, so now I can go back and enjoy the game again :)

Still not quite sure though what happened yesterday with the increased steering lock; I certainly hope that issue won't come back again!

G923 here, and after the update I had the feeling that I needed to turn the wheel more to get around the tight corners at Spa, but I assumed it was just my imagination. However, in cockpit view the virtual wheel doesn't turn 90 degrees to match my actual wheel; it's more like 75 or 80. It happens with GT3 cars (I tried the BRZ and the M6), but with several road cars I tried, it lined up perfectly. In the wheel calibration settings everything appears to be correct.

Maybe that's how it always was, though, and I just didn't notice since I don't normally use cockpit view. Can anyone with a wheel other than a 923 confirm that the GT3 car virtual wheel lines up exactly with the real wheel at 90 degrees?

Checked the on-screen wheel in cockpit view with a couple more cars again today:
  • BMW M6 GT3 - in sync up to 90 degrees only
  • Ford GT GTE - not in sync at all
  • GT-R NISMO - in sync up to 180 degrees (which also seems to be the max steering lock for the on-screen wheel)
So at least with the 1 road car I checked, it seems to be in sync up to 180 degrees, but with Gr.3 cars, it seems to be inconsistent.

I played a bit more over the weekend trying to get a better assessment of the new FFB, and the more I played, the worse it seemed to feel unfortunately. I think the steering lock feels okay now (at least with the M6 GT3 in the Nordschleife CE), but something with the FFB just feels off and not right with patch 1.17. I bumped up the FFB max torque/sensitivity by another notch to 8/6, but that didn't really seem to make any difference, if at all. The wheel now just feels that much looser and less precise than before. It feels as though the deadzone in the center has been increased. I suppose I could live with it and get used to it, but if it wasn’t great before the patch, PD has now made it even worse with the latest patch👎

The conspiracy theorist in me is thinking that since they screwed over the Fanatec/Thrustmaster crowd since patch 1.15, they should be fair and do the same to the Logitech crowd….

..is anybody looking at throttle bar???
so I did pedal calibration...and saw my pedal works ok...0% - 100% but on some tracks...throttle bar jumps up and down at full throttle...I even plugged g923 on my wife PC with g hub app..and it says everything works fine..but on ps4 at full press on straights it jumps up and down... between 85% - 100%???

First disable all driving assists, then try again.
The correct procedure for using a wheel is:
Plug wheel into power
Plug USB cable into console
Turn console on via power button on the console
Wait for the 'press PS button' screen, then press it (on the wheel).
Keep the wheel connected throughout your gaming session, don't keep any pedals depressed between loading screens etc
