1/64 Model Collectors Thread

Same here, except it was at Walmart. Just got one(though I care to have just one anyway).

I want more for three reasons, in the order of importance:

1. Collecting
2. Customizing
3. Investing

The last two are actually tied.

Toys R Us I hit today had tons of Fiat. Some Tumbler, too. I haven't seen Civics in a long while. I have just one with good tampo job(they are all :censored:ed), so I'd love to pick up one more.....

If you guys like Hot Pursuit police cars by Greenlight, my Toys R Us were clearing out their ten car set for $35. They generally go for six bucks a pop, so if you are looking to get some of those, it's a great deal.

If you are pretty serious about this set, I'll pick it up for you next week, pending it's still there. I gotta warn you though, they come in a fairly large box(I wanna say size of keyboard x 1.3 or so), so it's not ideal shipping size, since I have to package that in another box($$$). And if you aren't that caught up on a "set", I can always pick up a handful of these Hot Pursuit cars new($6 ea.), or used(loose, about $3.50 + few bucks for shipping).

I had a misadventure with The Tumbler. The day I got it, I was out trainspotting and trying to kill some time while waiting for a unit to pass, and I ended up spilling a drop or two or Hawaiian Punch orange drink on the back of the card. Now I'm concerned about losing some money.

I will be honest, that is the first Tumbler I have gotten in a long time. Last time I remember getting one of them was in the Gotham City 5 pack back in 2007. It's definetly been a while for me.

Maybe its the value for one of the EFs on Hall's Guide ($4), maybe its my age, maybe its the customizer in me, maybe its the collector....

I'm just going to stop here so this doesn't become a monster list.

I am jealous of those! My Wal Mart had a great supply of them, but of course just when I need them most, they vanish!

My Walmart had a lot too, but I left all of them, because I don't like Civics. I did the same thing with the Datsun 610.

I honestly didn't care for the Civic at all until I am came up with an idea for it. Not the first time I have had a vehicle disappear when I needed it most.

This is what scares me about this hobby. One time, I ran into this collector(looked to be about 20). He said he had couple of bedroom-full of hot wheel cars. Which is why I've been cutting down my collection.

If any of you are interested in buying mainline cars off me, let me know. I'll sell cheap. Unfortunately, shipping can get bit high, even though I only charge for the actual cost of the postage.

I wouldn't worry about Dart. I go to Walmart or something, they'll be out of everything Auto World........ except Dart.

@MedigoFlame I didn't remember ever seeing 300C, so I googled it, but the search came up empty, too(image search). Are you sure they make one?

I know the name doesn't quite fit it and I shouldn't really care about it. But I always get the urge to get something related to what I'm doing. Even if I don't really like it that much. Auto World makes a Dart model? >_>

I read it wrong. Greenlight has that SRT 300C(saw one yesterday at TRU), Auto World do have Dart, but it's this one.

That's fine. And yes, that's the proper Dart. (Curse Chrysler for bringing back old names as nothing related to the original) For Greenlight, I've only seen a normal/base 300C in brown. Still have yet to work on one at...work.

This afternoon, I finally ordered this one Tomica Limited Vintage Neo(longest brand name, ever) I've been wanting..... maybe since when I first started collecting. Cheapest I could find was $100 on eBay, but when I got serious about it, I did a google search & I found a store just like AmiAmi, except this store still had some older, rarer cars in stock. For more money. $77, shipped.

Hmm, wonder what it could be? Intriguing. Best of luck with it, mate. 👍

I didn't want to share it yet, because this is my first time dealing with them. It's called Plamoya. Cool name, as plastic models were hugely popular in Japan while I grew up over there(probably still just as popular), and "plamo" was a nickname for those kits, while "ya" is sort of throwback way to say "shop". Plastic Model Shop. That's your Japangrish lesson for today.

Price isn't low here like AmiAmi though, but the "take" of the give & take here is that due to higher markup on the older/coveted castings, they still have them. Supposedly. If their online inventory is wrong, I'd be screwed once again.
