Way to go Aston Martin!!! It is great to see them back in world sportscar racing. The DBr9 has to be the best looking GT car evr made. Brilliant. Richards is amazinging as well

Ah man, how did the DBR9's beat the C6R's? :irked:

I only caught some of it because, I had work. The Corvettes had a hefty lead.

They lost because of crashes. They were in the lead the entire race until the last four hours or so. Jonny O'Connel's car blew a right-front rotor. He induced a spin to reduce speed because he knew he was going to hit the wall. The damage was bad, but his crew got it back in the race about four laps down. They weren't able to get back the lead because the DB9 ran super strong.

When the crashes happened, the DB9 was on the same lap and keeping great pace to the 'Vettes. This is going to be a great ALMS season!

Because they finally are starting to have some equal decent competition since the Vipers left. :dopey:

Aww... poor C6R lost, not so good now when there's actual competition eh?👍

I'm not making excuses for Corvette, but the #4 car was the class of the field. With 4 hours remaining (before the brake rotor shattered on the #3 and the #4 collided with a GT2 car), the Corvettes had a full lap lead over the remaining Aston and 4 laps on the Acemo Saleen. The Aston set the fastest lap of the race for GT1 cars, but the Corvettes had consistently fast times throughout the stints. But that's what you get with endurance racing, crap happens.

I'm a big Prodrive fan, so I can't really complain either way.

I doubt that very much. Ferrari is going to be too busy trying to get Renault from their number one position. Heh. Not only that, Ferrari haven't been mentioned much about ALMS racing since the Vettes beat them, by only one point, back in 2003.

Oddly enough, Ferrari wasn't making any noise about ALMS when the Corvettes beat out the Prodrive Maranellos either.

You know why?

Ferrari wasn't involved as a factory with ALMS or FIA GT racing until the construction of the 575GTC privateer car. The Prodrive cars wore the self-titled designation "550 GTO" and debuted in 2001. Ferrari didn't build the first 575GTC until 2003.

There are also significant aerodynamic and chassis layout differences. The 575GTC was designed with FIA GT competition in mind and contains more production elements than the 550 GTO which was a GTS car from the outset.
