15 years and what you still remember?

I'm thirteen years old, and I've had a passion for cars for... Pretty much as long as I've been alive. So when my dad got a PS1, he got Gran Turismo 2 for me to play. I've got quite a few small, broken pieces of memories of GT2, most notably launching of the jumps in Seattle in a silver Clio V6, and spinning out on the first corner of Midfield in a yellow C4 Corvette (I was three, okay?).
After about five years, in about 2008, I had forgotten about GT. I played GT2 pretty often, though, up until I found GT3 and GT4 in a bin at a second-hand game store. I got home, started playing GT4, and was amazed. The game looked beautiful, and just felt... right to play. It just worked. Never liked GT3 much, though.
Couple years later I saw a copy of Playstation Magazine with a picture of a Nissan GT-R. But when I look closer, I realize that it's not a picture- it's a screenshot from GT5 Prologue. To say I was blown away is an understatement. (I still have the magazine, in case you were wondering) So I got the game, played it for a while, then got GT5, which I still play on a regular basis. Now, all I'm doing is waiting for the incredible-ness that will be GT6.

I was 12 year old when GT 1 came out, I'll be 27 when GT 6 comes out also who doesn't remember the opening to GT 1 I hope PD gives us a timeline from GT1 - GT 6 as the inro with all the intro songs mix together,

anyway one of my mates had GT played it didn't like it at first my brother borrowed from a video store that let you rent PSone games at a time, played it on my own for a few hours got hooked after playing it, stated with a Mazda MX5 after a few hours later, I had a Doge Viper GT-S fully tuned up :) (never could control it btw :( "too much power captain")

never really got into GT fully until 3 (fourth game I got on my PS2) and when I got the F1 car or any powerful car like the Escudo my jaw dropped at how well the F1 car felt. I also just loved the Chrysler Dodge Viper GTR-S Race Car '00, also I never drop the controller for the whole christmas holiday of 2001 and the first few months of 2002, skipped two & four, but I will not be skipping 6 this time around, such a shame I missed out on two and four :( please don't hate me I was young at the time

I was five, played it on my cousins playstation, then when I got a Playstation, GT2 was the game I got with it. Apart from the amazing gameplay I've had in the years since, my most vivid memory was the PIT STOP DISK. Rub the disk and it smells like a garage!

I know didn't EA do that with FIFA 2001 if you starched the disc it smelt like grass

I was in middle school I think when I first played GT.

GT2 to be exact on the PSone. Man. It was here that a friend and I really ended up falling in love with cars... 1 in particular... the Nissan Skyline R-34. I became our go to car for nearly all events. It was interesting to see the cultural popularity of the Skyline increase over the years... I guess we weren't the only ones who liked the car!

I still like them to this day but not as much, tastes change, I am (much) older now, ect. But, I will always remember my time spent on GT2.

I tried GT1 on the Demo disk that came with my dads PlayStation (I was only 3 or 4 at the time). The first real GT game I had was GT2 and my two memories of that were beating LeMans cars with a tuned Audi TT RM and grinding the Estate Car races with a Toyota GTOne Road Version. And of course I haven't forgotten the title sequence! (PAL version)

I remember playing gt1 (or was it 2?) driving an Aston through one of the clubman routes, crashing at every turn when I was 5.Fast forward a few years, and my brother brings home a used copy of gt4. We had a lot of fun in the 2 player arcade mode, and challenging each other to build better cars in career. Last Christmas I've just got a ps3, and gt5 blew me away with how much the racing was improved from gt4.

i had an atari and a nintendo when i was a kid. i am 43 as of last friday. i hadnt played video games in years, but i went to a bbq at a friends house that i autox.d with and was exposed to gt1 soon after it came out. i told my brother about it and he had rented it. my girlfriend bought me a ps1 and gt1 for a valentines day gift within the week. i still have the modded ps1. i only play a couple titles: gt, gta, madden, and tiger woods.

the license test that took me the longest was the camaro making the right hander at the top of the hill of seattle. gt3 i think. i missed that one by thousanths probably 1000 times.

i tried a few times to get a couple people together to do the 24hr races, with a few beers and pizzas and little or no sleep. i have had no luck though.

if you race mod the mustang on gt2 it turns it into a bondurant car. i used to work there and i have driven that exact car in real life.

the only gold license test (out of all gt games) i am missing is the fast slalom in gt5. mainly because i havent tried very many times.

and yes i will get gt6 right away.

Happy Birthday! Mine was May 6. I was 26 when GT1 came out. I brought my PS and the disc to my Aunt's house and played the intro at a family reunion. Everyone from my older brother to my great aunts and Uncles couldn't believe their eyes. Watching the Gulf Ford GT LM demo going around Seattle from the Japanese version of GT3 A-Spec, would be the most memorable. I bought an imported PS2 and had it converted to play US spec games as well.

I was in awe after watching the reply of my first race in GT1 and was hopelessly hooked on the series from that point forward. :)

As a GT1 fanatic, I was obsessed with the game and completed everything culminating in the acquisition of the coveted Nismo 400R with all golds on every license test. After GT1, I said never again, and from that point forward did not focus on 100% completion but rather just enjoying the game. Played GT4 from release until release of GT5 and only got about 50% done.

I've been playing GT since Christmas 1999, when I was 11 years old and I got the PSX. I remember I played the demo of GT1 and I say: I want this game. And from there I did not stop.
Something I always remember is the sound of the Mazdaspeed Demio A-Spec in GT2, was very noisy haha almost broke my eardrums haha.

Yes, GT2 is my favorite in the series.

I was 3 years old playing GT1. I loved it so much that I woke up 2 hours than I usually did and started playing. I've got so good, I was beat my cousins 6 or 7 years older than me. I have every gran Turismo game so far. I discovered gt1 when I came downstairs to see why I heard so many cars on my dad hifi system. Then, when I saw gt1 it was the most realistic game I've ever seen. I played that game 12 hours straight that same day. I will never forget that moment.

I was a fan of Gran Turismo even before the game actually came out. I'm 39 now, and we were in our 20's. My buddy who was big on video games got us all excited about this new racing game coming out, featuring 100+ real cars, and we all picked up the game as soon as it was out.

Many great one-on-one racing moments. There was no online, and we didn't have LAN play or anything. This continued until GT3 & after that, very last of us were done with the racing games. Call of Duty(4) was the game after that with us.

Working out how to cheat the license tests in GT1.
First you had to start the game on a Demo Disc.
After it loaded you swaped the disc for the GT1 disc.
Go to the license menu, you got gold awarded for a bronze time. Easy way to get 4 colours of the Nismo 400 R.

About 10 years ago, a distant relative introduced me to GT2, and on a sidenote one can't be introduces to GT2 without being introduced to the Escudo. Anyway I got to play it for a bit and was like "WOW, sooo many cars, I never knew half of these (Venturi, Vector, RUF, Tommikaira etc)". In the following window of time I must've been a p.i.t.a. to my parents, I simply wanted it so much! Then I one day saw a commercial for GT4 (one with cars transforming into other cars) and once again, I was 'ing all over the place. So I got it and enjoyed it greatly (I would today if the cursed PS2 at my dad's place would read the disc, not even a cleaning can help it :grumpy: ). Then I got GT5P, from which I have one epic memory: it was a 400-ish(?) PP race in London where I was driving a downtuned Z4. I took the lead right away (RWD is just so much better than FF on these tracks) and for the remainder of the race I had a Focus trying to copy my race line! I lol'd bigtime as that was one of my very first online events, I never saw that one coming. Nothing much to say about GT5, but then I found out GT3 had 6 F1's, so I was a bit disappointed to find out PAL only had 2, but to this day this stands as one of my favorite games of all time, for the pure fun. I also had GT1 about 2 years ago iirc, and that's also provided some fun and frustrations alike.

I'm not sure. GT2 was the only game I had that did that. Mind you, I was more of an ISS PES player back then when I felt bored enough to play football.

GT2 was my introduction to the series. I got it as a present for my 10th birthday back in '00. Since I could never really figure out how to progress in GT Mode, obtain/buy cars and upgrade them at the time (due to lack of english language knowledge), I would redo the license tests and browse the dealerships on a daily basis. The rest is history.

The game taught me more about cars than anyone or anything ever has, or will and the main reason behind my profound love for japanese cars. It's still my favourite in the series.

I remember seeing the commercial for GT1 and I was hooked. One of my friends bought and didn't like so I bought it off of him and the rest is history. I remember my favorites the Cerbera LM , the Chaser LM, the Impreza Rally Car. But my favorite was black NSX race modified that my brother dubbed Darth Vader. I had that car geared perfectly and my old brother could not get his to run as fast as mine. I still play GT1 now every once in awhile.

I still remember how I needed to put a fan under the Play Station because of the heat it got after playing for more than 4 hours straight with Gran Turismo. lol

Good old days of bad cooling solutions.

I remember being born! :)

But then, one day my dad showed my this new game. "Gran Turismo 3" I loved it. My brothers decided to trade it and other games in for a cowboy game (Gun) and I didn't speak to them for a week. I loved it and always chose the Subaru in WR blue on arcade mode.

I had my first moment with GT1 ´99. A classmate had a PS1 and I was visiting him... He said he was very good in that game. I had played only NFS before, but was good at it...
my classmate said I don´t beat him and we tried a splittscreen race...
he was in front all the time but in the last corner I overtook him and won... :D
don´t know the name of the course, it was with natural high stonewalls on the side and a small tunnel... was a great moment... after that I got a PS1 after some time and had GT2... I bought a steering wheel from McLaren with handbreak and gearstick... loved to hillclimb/downhill on pikes peak... great game...
would like to see that track again...

I remember lots of things. I have a couple of favorites.

I hated it when my uncle took the simulation disc of GT2 and I was stuck playing arcade mode. Then he showed me the Escudo and all the rims you could have. I was so glad when I got it back!

I had the Japanese version on GT3 and didn't understand a word of it. Still managed to get far enough and get the Toyota GT-One. It was kind of a blur after that. Then GT4 came and I had the proper version which was great. The GT-One was the first car I looked for and buying the car was my main goal in the game.

My first GT was GT concept:2002 Tokyo-Geneva back when I was about 8 years old. I can still remember the pod race like it was only yesterday...

It was just before Christmas 2000, and PS2s were nearly impossible to find. My roommates sister called and said she was at Toys-R-Us. She was looking through the window into the stock room and said there was a pallet of PS2s. She said she was going back there to get one (she is a lesbian and has very big balls) and asked him if he wanted one also. He said sure!

We got our PS2 and shortly after, I got GT from the bargain bin. We also got a PS2 Ridge Racer game that looked great, but unreal cars and crazy physics made it much less fun.

I didn’t play much of GT because within a couple of weeks I got GT2, also from the bargain bin. I played much more of that game.

When GT3 came out I bought it bundled with a wheel – I hated the wheel and promptly threw the wheel in the closet.

Years later after not being able to pass the final license test in GT4, chasing the pace car around the Nurburgring, I dragged the wheel out and after a few hours of practice in the Sunday cup races around Autumn Ring, I passed that test. I have never gone back to using the controller.

Now I have a G25 and GT5 and race online every night. I love it.

I have to admit though, I get a little misty-eyed when I hear the "Everything Must Go" (chemical brothers remix)

The older you get, the faster you get older.

I'm in my 40's now and run every night with guys that are 20 years younger, and guys that are 20 years older than I am.

What other game can bring three generations of players together?

I am almost in tears just writing this. I love Gran Turismo!

My earliest memory is of GT1, ploughing all my money into a Subaru Legacy Wagon because I had no concept of buying an already-fast car. I used it for every race I could, and didn't bother with the races it wasn't eligible for.

I'm 19 now so when GT1 was released I wasn't that old  ,Still remember my dad getting it for me (I loved cars from a very young age)and remember a few races I had,Ash and Garbage managed to engrave their music in my brain as well.

Only played GT2's arcade mode since I lost the other disk but it was GT3 when I first started to really love the GT series ,need to look for my PSX and GT1 in my old house.
